Diamond tossed and turned in bed. She felt happy and alive today contrary to the previous day.
Maybe yesterday's activity really helped.
She stretched and grimaced a little at the sound of her bones cracking into its places.
She reached for her phone beside her and began to scroll through.
She suddenly stopped in her tracks upon seeing something she didn't expect. She squinted at her phone and then dropped it on the bed like it was going to explode.
"OMG". She screamed at the top of her voice, jumping and punching the air.
Tanya, who had been in her room, came running to her friend upon hearing her screams.
"What is it" she said, concern evident in her facial expression.
Diamond took deep breaths to calm herself before she finally spoke.
"I..I got the job, Tanya I got the job". Diamond said as she let out another scream.
Tanya's facial expression quickly turned from concern to bewilderment. She didn't mind the fact that Diamond was now screaming again. Actually, it felt like music to her ears now.
Tanya quickly reached for Diamond's phone.
"OMG". She exclaimed, confirming the information.
Both girls began to jump and scream like they were out of their minds until they couldn't jump anymore.
Diamond reached for Tanya. She Embraced her tightly and began to sob.
"Oh, don't cry". Tanya said, patting Diamond on the back. "You deserve it and like I said, you always shine through every situation, cause you are a diamond, a rare gem.
Diamond hugged Tanya, tightening her embrace. "Thank you".
"You're squishing me". Tanya said in a strained voice.
Diamond loosened her grip, pulling out of there embrace, she wiped her tears.
"Thank you for what". Tanya asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Thank you for everything you've done for me; i appreciate all you do and have done. You are the best friend ever".
"Awwn, thank you". Tanya said while holding her chest. "And you are the bestest friend and sister in the world".
The girls hugged for what seemed like forever before coming back to the present.
"I need to prepare for my first day at work". Diamond said, pulling out of their embrace.
"Yeah, that's true, when do you start".
"From tomorrow".
"Tomorrow?". Tanya asked in surprise. "Isn't it a bit early".
"Well, the company said I can start work from tomorrow".
"Great, they said you can, not you should, so you could take your time".
"I know but I think it's best I commence from tomorrow. I've been idle for too long and I'm eager and excited to wait a little bit longer".
"Ok, nice". Tanya said. Her eyes sparkled with amusement and excitement as she squealed.
"OMG I still can't believe you will be working at one of the most Biggest and influential companies in the world".
"Me too". Diamond said with excitement. "It feels surreal. Does it mean they actually saw my potentials".
"Who wouldn't". Tanya said with a playful smirk.
"I need to start preparing". Diamond said as she stood but was quickly incapacitated by the sound and discomfort in her tummy.
She sat back on the bed and held her tummy tightly.
"I'm so famished". She said, holding her tummy like it was going to erupt.
"Me too. Let's get something to eat". Tanya said as she quickly stood up and they both went to the kitchen.
They heated the rice from yesterday and soon began to eat.
They chatted about the job and other things as they ate. The more they chatted about the job, the more Diamond became eager and excited. She hastened her eating until she choked on her food.
"Easy". Tanya said, holding up a glass of water to her.
Diamond took the water and gulped it down. She fanned herself frically with her hands, gasping for breath. She drank a second glass of water before she felt relieved. She took a deep breath to steady her breathing.
"Be careful, okay". Tanya said with worry.
"I'm fine now". Diamond said, holding up her hands.
"You sure?".
"Absolutely". Diamond said, letting out a weak smile.
She ate a little before cleaning up her dishes and darted up to her room.
She searched her wardrobe for outfits. A wide smile spread across her face as she quickly pulled out a satin white shirt and black trousers.
"Perfect". She exclaimed as she laid it on her bed and began to search for a matching bag. She picked a black Louis Vuitton bag and dropped it beside the clothes as she moved onto her shoes.
She pulled out a black heel adorned with diamond's that decorated it beautifully.
Putting them aside, she took the clothes and made her way to the laundry room where she ironed them.
She hung them on a hanger and put them in a separate place in her wardrobe. With nothing else to do, she joined Tanya who was watching a movie in the parlor.
They munched on popcorn from a bowl as they watched the movie together.
Their faces shifting constantly from a frown to that of surprise and shock.
They didn't know how long they had been watching the movie until it ended.
Diamond gasped as she glanced at the clock. It was late and she needed to wake up early, not wanting to be tardy on her first day at work.
She bid Tanya good night and made her way up to her room.
She laid on her bed, her thoughts wandering away. She couldn't help imagining how her first day at work would be. Closing her eyes, she murmured a words prayer before she drifted off to sleep.
