Diamond woke up to the ringing sound of her alarm clock. She jerked up, still feeling excited. She hurried to the bathroom to shower and after that, she got dressed.
She walked up to the makeup station and sat on the chair in front of it.
"Just a few touches", she said as she put some blush on her cheeks, mascara on her eyelashes, eye liner and lastly, a peach flavored lipgloss.
"Done". She said as she took her bag and darted out of her room.
She made her way to the door. She didn't bother to go about her morning routine since Tanya was still at home.
She felt comfortable and more relaxed seeing the changes in Tanya; she had began to regard the well-being of the house.
She got into a taxi. She kept looking around every now and then as she tried to familiarize herself with the road.
She soon got to her destination. Once again she found herself staring at the huge and enormous skyscraper.
Walking inside, she couldn't help but breath in the sweet smell of flowers mixed with the air conditioning. She found the scent quite intriguing.
"Good morning". She greeted as she approached the receptionist counter.
"Good morning". The receptionist greeted with a warm smile. "How may I help you".
"I've been offered a job here and I would like to commence from today".
"Oh, you are most welcome then". The receptionist said with a wide smile. "Please have a seat". She said, gesturing to some chairs at the corner.
Soon, a man appeared and gestured for her to follow him.
Diamond followed the man as they entered an elevator to the highest floor, it seemed.
They walked through a corner decorated with flower vases and then into some halls with doors at the sides before coming to a door with a golden plate attached to it, on the golden plate was inscribed Business Analysis Office B.A.O.
The inscription on the plate indicated it was the Business Analysis Office, like the other office doors they had passed.
The man led her inside the office. Diamond gasped at the sight of the office. It was spacious with flower vases here and there that seemed to complement the air conditioning. There was a large table with books on top of it, a globe,a fancy digital clock and an office chair behind it that was positioned against the wall and then two office chairs in front for visitors. There were paintings on wall and a large TV on the wall.
Were all these now hers, as long as she remained in the position, of course.
Her thoughts and observations were abruptly dismissed by the black and white suited man.
"This is your office, you will be briefed on the company's rules and regulations and your job". The man was about to leave, having passed the information when he paused, "and welcome to this prestigious company",
"Thank you". Diamond said.
The man gave a slight nod and made his way out of the office.
Diamond looked around once more. It was amazing. She walked towards a window. She noticed that half of the office walls were made of glass and it seemed like she was lucky to be on the glass side as it gave a clear view of the city.
She stared at the city through the glass. It was beautiful, she thought.
She sat in the chair. It was so comfortable. Picking a book, she glanced through it; it talked about geography, she was about to flipp more pages to see its content when she caught sight of a laptop and an iPad.
"Wow". She exclaimed as she pulled them closer. Taking a closer look, she saw they were the latest versions.
She gasped in surprise, they must be worth a fortune, she thought.
She opened the iPad carefully. She switched it on, a video popped up, catching her attention. It gave her an overview of the company's rules and regulations and what she would be doing. She listened carefully so as not to miss any information.
So this was the briefing the man who escorted her had mentioned. She felt a little annoyed that he hadn't told her that it would be conveyed through the iPad, she immediately shook the feeling off, not wanting to spoil her day with something as little as that.
She picked up a fashion catalog.
"Ooh". She said as she began flipping through the pages, but she was soon interrupted by a knock on the door .
"Come in". She said in response to the knock.
She waited expectantly as a young lady walked in.
"Good morning". The lady greeted.
"Good morning". Diamond replied, as she stood up.
"I'm Mandy, the Network Administrator, I heard we have a new member, so i dropped by to welcome you.
"Oh".
"Congratulations and welcome to the company".
"Thank you so much, I appreciate". Diamond said, filled with gratitude.
"May I?". Mandy asked, gesturing to a chair
"Yes" Diamond said as she sat down.
"So how are you settling in".
"It's been good".
"Okay, you've been briefed on the company's rules and regulations, I assume".
"Yeah". Diamond replied.
"You know the company's policy about confidentiality".
"Yeah, I was told that".
"Please take that seriously".
"Okay". Diamond replied.
"I didn't catch your name".
"Oh, pardon me, I'm Diamond".
"That's a beautiful name".
"Thank you". Diamond said with a warm smile.
"What have you been doing today". Mandy asked with curiosity.
"Just getting settled, reading a catalog". Diamond replied.
"Oh, you will start tomorrow".
"Oh, okay". Diamond replied and soon they were talking about the company. Mandy shared insights about the company and what to expect.
"Oh, thank you". Diamond thanked Mandy for the information and insights.
"You are welcome". Mandy replied. "I must take my leave now". Mandy said as she glanced at her phone.
"Alright". Diamond said as she stood up to walk Mandy out. "By the way, I enjoyed our conversation".
"You are welcome, see you later". Mandy said as she left the office.
Diamond strolled back to her seat. She took out her phone and began chatting and watching videos to pass time and soon it was time to go home.
She quickly packed her things up and and made her way out of the office. She tried recalling where she had come from and finally let out a sigh of relief when she found the elevator. Once she was at the main floor, she comfortably navigated herself to the door and got into a taxi.
A wide smile spread across her face when she saw Tanya in the parlor watching TV.
"Hey", Tanya said, letting out a wide smile. " How was your day".
"It was ok". Diamond replied as she sat on the sofa. "How was your day".
"Mine was good". Tanya said. "Give me the gist", she said excitedly.
"Calm down, I haven't even eaten and here are asking for gist, I need to eat and rest, please". Diamond said, rolling her eyes playfully.
"Ok, let me get you food". Tanya said, standing up. "Then I will see what other excuse you have".
Diamond who was nodding her head stopped and began to chuckle.
Tanya came back few minutes later with a plate of rice and chicken for Diamond and placed in on the table.
"Ooh" Diamond exclaimed and began to eat. She let out a satisfied belch when she was done and was about snuggling on the couch when she was heard Tanya speak.
"Don't even think about it". Tanya said.
"I said eat and rest, not just eat and relax". Diamond said as she snuggled on the couch.
"Really". Tanya said and began to tickle Diamond until she gave up.
"Alright alright, I'll talk". Diamond said, giving up. She took a deep breath to calm herself and leaned against the couch, gasping for air.
"I'm waiting". Tanya said.
Diamond paused and turned to Tanya with squinted eyes, "and what if I decide not to talk".
"Then you leave me no choice".
"You are cruel". Diamond said, still with squinted eyes.
"I know that, right". Tanya said in a proud tone.
"You have to apologize". Diamond said, now folding her hands.
"Okay I'm sorry". Tanya apologized.
Diamond flung her head to the other side, not satisfied with Tanya's apology.
"My baby bun". Tanya said cause the both of them to burst into laughter.
"Fair enough". Diamond said as she began to talk about her day.
Tanya's facial expression was one of surprise and excitement until Diamond mentioned Mandy. She became serious and attentive, seizing the chance to speak when Diamond was done talking.
"All these best friend snatchers". Tanya said, folding her arms.
"Is that jealousy I smell?". Diamond said, pretending to sniff something.
"Haha". Tanya said, rolling her eyes.
"No one is stealing your bestfriend, okay". Diamond assured.
Tanya let out a wide, satisfied with Diamond's assurance.
"I need to go to bed now". Diamond said, patting Tanya's hand.
"So soon?". Tanya said as she made a baby face.
"Yes darling". Diamond said, standing up. "Good night baby".
"Good night". Tanya said as she turned back to her movie.
Diamond quickly went to have her bath before she crashed on her bed. She glanced through her phone one last time before she finally slept off.
