Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The stranger (1)

Diamond stirred in her sleep before her eyes fluttered open.

"Shit". She exclaimed as she glanced at her phone.

She was going to be late. Yesterday had really exhausted her that she had over slept.

She sprung up from her bed and hurried to shower before dressing up.

She let her hair down in waves and applied some blush, mascara and lip gloss and slipped on a pair of new earrings. Picking up her bag, she darted out of the house and entered a taxi.

Diamond sighed in frustration as a traffic jam emerged. She kept glancing at the time every now and then.

The clock seemed to be ticking louder with each passing minute as she glanced at the time.

She let out a sigh of relief when it started moving and kept urging the driver to speed up.

She hastily got off the the taxi when she had reached her destination. With no time to waste, she hurriedly walked into the building 🏢, greeted the receptionist and signed her attendance.

She was already twenty minutes late, which she didn't like at all.

She wished she hadn't over slept.

She turned around, searching for her phone, when she suddenly bumped into some one.

Her hand instinctively went to the figures chest, feeling a hard, firm yet surprisingly delicate surface.

She pushed herself back, holding her head which had collided with the surface when she finally looked at the figure who stood in front of her.

She came face to face with someone she didn't expect to meet again. Her gaze locked with a pair of piercing blue eyes that seemed to hold her captive, their intensity mesmerizing, no one could easily forget those eyes. She couldn't help but notice his dark, silky hair and broad shoulders.

"You". She said with disdain.

"You are stalking me, right". She interrogated with squinted eyes.

Adrian stood there, surprised and unshaken by the situation. He remembered her from the night he went clubbing to ease the turmoil that had been gnawing at his heart, a pain inflicted on him by someone dear to him.

Oh, she was really one of those attention seekers.

His silence and unwavering calmness only seemed to fuel Diamond's anger. How could one be so full of themselves, she thought.

"You'd better stay away from me, or else....".

"Or else what?". He snapped, still in he's calm facade.

Diamond's jaw clenched, and her fist tightened into a tight ball, her nails digging into her palm.

"It would be a waste of time and energy to baffle words with you which would be unbeneficial to me". Diamond said and stormed out.

She felt her blood boiling with anger and frustration.

What was he even doing here, she wondered but quickly shook the thought off.

She didn't care and it was non of her business.

The elevator suddenly stopped, interrupting her thoughts. She stepped out of the elevator, making her way to her office. She let out a deep sigh as she sank into the chair and decided to focus on the work at hand. She hadn't finished her work yesterday and decided she would try as much as possible to finish up.

She reached out for her phone and placed it on the table before unfolding the folders and files when she heard a knock on the door.

"Come in". She said.

She watched as the door swung open and Mandy, looking anxious and worried walked in.

"Good morning". She greeted.

"Good morning". Mandy replied as she sat on one of the chairs in front of Diamond.

Diamond's smile faded as she took in Mandy's expression. There wasn't a hint of smile on her face.

"What's wrong". Diamond asked.

"I heard what happened downstairs, why would you yell at him". Mandy inquired.

Diamond became thoughtful and confused at the same time .

"Oh, you mean that guy, he deserved it". Diamond said sternly. "Like who does he think he is". Diamond said, almost to herself. "Who is he by the way".

Mandy's eyes widened in horror. "He is the CEO". She almost screamed.

Diamond burst out laughing, incredulous at Mandy's words. "You are joking, right". Diamond said once she had stopped laughing and looked at Mandy only to come face to face with Mandy's serious version.

"Wait, you are not?". Diamond said, her face contorting into a serious look and then into that of horror.

"What happened?, every one is talking about it". Mandy asked with concern

"So you mean to tell me that he's the CEO". Diamond asked.

"Yes". Mandy confirmed.

Panic settled in as it now dawned on Diamond that her job was at stake. How can he be the CEO, after there encounter, there was no way he was still going to let her work in his company. How could she be this unfortunate, she wondered.

"Diamond". She heard Mandy call which brought her back to the present.

"Are you okay?". Mandy asked. "Have you met him before?".

"No, I'm okay". Diamond answered.

"If you haven't met him before then what really transpired?, everyone are thinking you aren't okay".

"I'm fine". Diamond shot at Mandy. Regret filled her as she realized her tone, she apologized and was surprised at how fast Mandy was quick to sweep it under the carpet.

"It's alright, I'm just worried cause he...he can be very unforgiving at times". Mandy said nervously.

Mandy's statement only seemed to fuel Diamond's panic. She had been thinking about their encounters but now that she knew he was unforgiving, there was no way out, he would not spare.

Diamond was suddenly taken aback as Mandy reached out to comfort, holding her hand and patting it.

"It's going to be fine". Mandy said reassuringly. "Let's go have lunch".

"Lunch?". Diamond said as she looked at the time. It was some minutes to twelve, she was shocked at how fast the time had gone by.

"Alright". Diamond said as she picked up her phone and headed out with Mandy. Asides from the situation at hand, she really needed to calm down and maybe that might be a good distraction.
