Diamond woke up feeling bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. She got dressed, styled her hair, and added a touch of makeup before heading off to conquer the workday.
She felt energetic and excited to start her day. Picking her bag she dashed out of her room only stopping at the kitchen to have a sandwich. Breakfast was the most important and she didn't like to miss that part. She quickly packed some fruits into a plastic plate and put it inside her bag and with that she left the house. She got into a taxi real quick and soon she had reached her work place. With each passing day, she grew more familiar with the route and appreciated the convenience.
She walked into the building, everything still felt new to her especially the sweet smell of flowers and something extra. She greeted the receptionist who in turn greeted her with a warm smile. she recalled being informed by the iPad in her office yesterday that she had to mark her attendance. She walked up to receptionist who drew out a book from her locker and gave her a pen.
"Here and here". The receptionist pointed out to where she would write her name, the time and sign.
Diamond did as she was told and thanked the receptionist once she was done.
She made her way to the elevator 🛗 which contained two other people.
It was deathly quiet and she felt quite relieved when she got to her floor. She walked cautiously, not yet familiar with her surroundings. A smile spread across her face when she caught sight of the door with a gold plate inscribed on it, Business Analyst Office (B.A.O). She walked into her office. Everything was the same way she had left.
She settled into her chair and checked the laptop and iPad if there was any message it had for her but there was no. She took out her phone and began to chat with Tanya who was already at work. They did a video call, enabling Tanya see her office. Tanya gasped in shock at the sight of the office, promising to pay a visit if that was allowed due to the company's rules of confidentiality. Both girls laughed.
"I don't think that would stop you from having visitors".
"I hope so". Tanya said, still chuckling.
Both girls stopped laughing instantly upon hearing a knock on Diamond's door.
"We'll talk later, bye". Diamond said, switching off the call. "Come in". She said almost immediately.
A young lady dressed in coperate walked into the office with lots of files in her hands.
"Good morning". Diamond said, standing up.
"Good morning". The lady said as she approached the table, dropping the files. "Before I begin with the business of today, you are welcome Miss Diamond Rodriguez and we are happy to have you here. So here with me are the files you are going to be working on". The lady paused before she began to speak again. "I'm sure you already know what's your job is and what you are doing, of course why won't you, you are a business analyst. So you are going to review the project briefs and files. I'll get back to you by tomorrow".
"Okay". Diamond said, nodding her head.
The lady paused just as she was about to leave. "And by the way, I'm Emma".
"Okay". Diamond thought there was no need to introduce herself since the lady already knew who she was. She leaned back into her chair as the lady walked confidently out of her office.
"Let's get to work", she said as she began to unfold the files.
She read them, paying attention to every detail, spotting some things that were off and jotting them on the iPad. There were lots of things to be done and she soon became engrossed with the task at hand that she didn't notice someone had been knocking on the door. She suddenly snapped back to her surroundings upon hearing a loud knock on the door.
"Come in". She said, still startled.
The door opened slightly, and a head peeped through before walking inside.
"Good afternoon".
Mandy said as she walked inside.
"Afternoon?". Diamond said in surprise.
She looked at her phone to see the time before her gaze shifted to Mandy.
"Oh my gosh", she exclaimed. "Good afternoon". She finally replied still in shock.
Mandy chuckled lightly. "I can see you are busy".
"Yh, there's just so much to be done". Diamond said in an exhausted tone.
"Sorry, how about you take a break, it's lunch time and you can join me in the cafeteria".
"There's a cafeteria?". Diamond asked in surprise.
"Yh, and I can also show you around if you want".
"Ok, sure". Diamond said, packing up the files and arranging some things before leaving with Mandy.
They walked along a path Diamond recognized before stopped in front of the elevator.
"You could either take the stairs or the elevator, but the elevator is faster and recommendable". Mandy explained.
"Ok". Diamond replied.
They took the elevator to a floor below before coming to a corner that led them to large path. Diamond saw the large glass door ahead. The walls alongside the door were also glass making the whole frame glass and transparent enabling her see the people inside.
Just as they approached the glass door, it slid open. Diamond looked around amusingly, savoring every detail. The hall was filled with staffs who were either eating or at the counter making orders.
"Wow". Diamond gasped in surprise. It looked like a typical fancy restaurant.
She suddenly felt awkward as everyone turned to look at her and whispering to themselves.
They soon got to the counter, made their orders and then settled down on a table and began to eat.
"Yumm". Diamond said as she munched on the food. "It's really nice".
"I know, right".
Both girls chuckled lightly as they ate and chat. Mandy took her around the company once they were done and lastly to the highest floor.
"This is where the CEO's office and other major staffs office are".
"Oh, really ". Diamond said in surprise
"Who is the CEO". Diamond asked out of curiosity.
Mandy's eyes became dreamy and she began to drool, she put her hands on her chest and then spoke.
"Oh, he's beyond description". Mandy said in a dreamy voice.
Diamond began to laugh upon seeing Mandy like that.
"What". Mandy asked.
"You could have seen your self and what do you mean he's beyond description". Diamond said, chuckling in the middle of each word.
"Girl, I'm serious". Mandy said in a serious time.
"Wait, you are serious". Diamond said as she stopped chuckling, seeing the serious look on Mandy's face.
"Yes".
"Where is he". Diamond asked, eager to see this person that was beyond description.
"He's not around, but he will soon be back".
"Ok". Diamond said. "And you have a thing for him".
"Who wouldn't". Mandy exclaimed. "And I'm not the only person".
"So you mean almost all the female staffs have eyes for him".
"Yh, if not all".
"Wow". Diamond gasped.
"Just wait till you see him".
"Ok". Diamond said, chuckling. "I need to get back to work now.".
"Ok, me too". Mandy replied.
They walked to the elevator together.
"Thank you for today". Diamond thanked Mandy.
"You are welcome". Mandy said as they now parted ways.
Diamond went back to her office and buried herself in the work at hand. Realizing the time, she quickly packed the files together and kept it inside the drawer in the table.
Taking her bag, she darted out of the office and made her way to the entrance and then into a taxi.
She got off the tax and entered her apartment and collasped onto the sofa.
She sank into the sofa with a sigh of relief.
"Oh, you're back". Tanya said in surprise. "How was work".
"It was ok". Diamond replied. "How was work".
"Normal". Tanya replied.
"Ok". Diamond said as she took out the fruits she had packed in the morning and began to eat them.
"You seem really tired". Tanya pointed out.
"I'm really exhausted". Diamond replied. "There is lots of work to be done".
"Okay, sorry". Tanya said and suddenly spranged up in excitement. "Give me gist, what happened today".
"Nothing". Diamond replied before her eyes lit up from her exhausted state to an excited state.
"Spill sister". Tanya said as she became more excited.
"Calm down". Diamond said and began to talk about her day and everything that had happened. Tanya's face lit up with excitement when Diamond started talking about her conversation with Mandy about the CEO.
"Ooh". Tanya said. "It looks like he's wanted".
Diamond rolled her eyes. "Maybe Mandy's just over exaggerating".
"There's no way she's over exaggerating if he's every one's crush".
Diamond shrugged nonchalantly. "Well that isn't my business".
Tanya burst into a silly dance which was more of a response to Diamond's statement. Diamond rolled her eyes at Tanya's gesture before she spoke.
"I'm going to bed". Diamond said as she picked up her bag. "Good night".
"Good night baby girl". Tanya replied excitedly.
Diamond got into her room, changed and crashed on her bed. She was so exhausted that she didn't have strength to do anything. She whispered a prayer before she quickly dozed off.
