After Adam's accusation, a heavy, suffocating silence filled the room. Noah felt like his head was going to explode.
He couldn't believe the words he was hearing. He started pacing back and forth across the expensive carpet of the home office, his hands tugging at his hair in frustration.
Adam didn't move. He just leaned back against his desk and watched Noah coldly, his eyes tracking every movement like a predator watching a trapped animal.
After a few minutes of frantic pacing, Noah finally came to a stop. He turned to face Adam, his chest heaving.
"Have you finally gone nuts?" Noah asked, his voice shaking with disbelief. "This is really driving me crazy. Like, who the fuck is your enemy? How did you even come to the conclusion that I know who your political rivals are? Do I look like someone who keeps up with the news?"
Noah couldn't stay still. He walked closer to Adam, closing the distance until they were inches apart.
