Noah looked Naya directly in the eyes, trying his best to keep his expression steady so she wouldn't see how much he was actually shaking inside. He knew Naya could usually read him like an open book, so he had to be careful with his body language.
"I'm not lying to you, Naya," Noah said, his voice as sincere as he could make it. "It is just that when I walked through that door, you looked so incredibly angry. You had this look on your face like you were ready to explode at anyone who crossed your path. I think I just subconsciously turned around and tried to leave because I saw how mad you were, and my survival instinct kicked in before I could even think about it."
Naya stared at him for a few more seconds, her eyes searching his face for any sign of a lie. Finally, she let out a long, heavy sigh and nodded her head. The tension in her shoulders seemed to lessen just a little bit.
