Levi and Kyouya released their hands, both men nodding with knightly dignity. For a moment, it looked like the guild had gained a scene straight out of a bard's tale.
Then someone from the back yelled:
"Oi! Stop acting like a couple of princes at a tea party! Kiss already!"
The guild erupted with laughter, mugs slamming on tables.
Levi twitched, resisting the urge to Hydro Roar the heckler into the wall. Kyouya cleared his throat awkwardly, his knightly aura cracking as a faint blush appeared.
Cremea facepalmed. "Why do I feel like this always happens when Kyouya tries to look cool?"
Fio nodded, deadpan. "Because it does."
Yunyun, meanwhile, was beet red, flapping her hands in panic. "N-no! Levi-sama isn't like that! He's—he's—!" She stopped, realizing she didn't know how to finish that sentence without embarrassing herself further.
Dust took a swig of ale and smirked. "Ha! Two goody-goodies shaking hands instead of throwing punches? Boooring. If it were me, I'd challenge that Blue Knight to a brawl right now."
Levi's eye twitched again. You? Challenge him? Dust, please…
But Kyouya, either not noticing or deliberately ignoring the jabs, gestured politely to Levi. "Since we've met at last, Levi, perhaps we should sit together? I'd like to share a drink with the so-called Noble Warrior of Axel."
The guild gasped. Two of Axel's strongest sitting together? This was either going to turn into an alliance… or a drinking contest of legendary proportions.
Levi smirked, grabbing his mug. "Sure, Blue Knight. Let's see if you can keep up."
Both mugs landed on the table with a thunk, froth spilling slightly. Levi and Kyouya lifted them in silent challenge before drinking deep. When they set them down, Levi leaned in slightly, his tone shifting.
In crisp English, he said, "Gotta say… this feels nice, right?"
Kyouya froze, the mug halfway back to his lips. His blue eyes widened, and for a brief moment his knightly façade cracked. He whispered back in the same tongue, "Was that… English? Y-you… are you also…?"
Levi smirked, swirling the foam at the bottom of his mug. "Yeah. I'm also isekai'd. Not the only 'foreigner' in this game."
Kyouya let out a laugh—relieved, but tinged with disbelief. "I knew it! I knew I wasn't the only one! Ha! I thought I was cursed to be the lone hero carrying Earth's burden!"
Levi raised an eyebrow, amused. "You talk like a JRPG protagonist, man. Relax. You're not alone."
Meanwhile, the rest of the guild stared. The strange cadence of their conversation—smooth, alien, and incomprehensible—left them baffled.
Dust leaned back in his chair and snorted. "Pfft. What the hell are they babbling about? Sounds like noble talk to me."
One adventurer whispered, "Maybe they're from the same far-off continent. You know, the Land of Fancy Suits and Weird Words."
Another chimed in, "No, no, they're obviously rivals bound by destiny. This is some kind of warrior code thing!"
Luna, overhearing, sighed. "Honestly, it's probably just… complicated."
Back at the table, Kyouya grinned earnestly, his voice still in English. "Levi, if you're also from Earth… then maybe fate brought us here together. Two heroes from another world—shouldn't we unite our strength?"
Levi nearly spat out his drink. Here we go. Mr. Chunni-Knight in full force.
Still, he gave a wry smile. "We'll see, Blue Knight. We'll see."
Kyouya leaned in, lowering his voice. "So you also met the beautiful goddess who reincarnated me?"
Levi couldn't hold back the snort. "Yeah. Aqua. She laughed her ass off at how I died."
Kyouya blinked, then chuckled knowingly. "Ha! She did the same to me!"
Levi smirked, tilting his mug. Oh, little do you know, she does that to everyone.
Kyouya straightened, trying to keep his knightly composure. "So then, what did you choose as your perk or weapon?"
Levi casually reached behind him and pulled his gleaming weapon into view, the steel reflecting the tavern light. "This. My Gunblade."
Kyouya's eyes went wide, almost glowing. "No way! That's a Ciel Gunblade! I thought those only existed in games!"
Levi smirked, enjoying his reaction. "Yup. And there's more. I got Dragon Blood too. Something about being the 100th reincarnated soul that day… Aqua said I could pick double."
Kyouya's jaw dropped. He gripped his mug tighter, trying not to sulk like a child. "Seriously? That's… that's broken. You basically got a god-tier build handed to you."
Levi shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "Luck of the draw."
Kyouya groaned, running a hand through his blond hair. "Damn it… I was soul number ninety-eight. Ninety-eight! If only I'd died, like, two minutes later, maybe I'd be rocking Dragon Blood and a gun-sword too!"
Levi chuckled, leaning back in his chair. "What did you pick then?"
Kyouya lifted his hand with dramatic pride. "Gram. The cursed blade of heroes. Forged by the gods themselves. A weapon worthy of my chivalry!"
Levi smirked. Right, the same sword that Kazuma pawns off later… oh, poor guy.
Meanwhile, everyone in the guild stared at the two, mugs in hand, watching the strange back-and-forth.
One adventurer tilted his head. "What language is that? It doesn't sound like Elvish or Dwarvish…"
Another scratched his beard. "Maybe it's from some hidden continent? You know, like that one guy claimed he came from 'The East Sea of Cheese'?"
A drunk adventurer slammed his mug down. "Bah! Forget continents—this is clearly Dragon Tongue! Look at Levi's hair! Only dragons speak in riddles and gibberish like that!"
Someone else gasped dramatically. "Wait… does that mean the Blue Knight is also a dragon in disguise?!"
Half the guild suddenly went pale.
Dust, who'd been listening in, leaned back in his chair and rolled his eyes. "Idiots. They're probably just flexing because they're nobles. You know how nobles are—make up their own secret handshake, their own language, their own underwear brand."
The crowd murmured, nodding like Dust was some kind of genius.
Levi raised his mug with a grin. "Well, it was a great conversation, Knight. Glad to know I'm not the only one here with… special circumstances."
Kyouya smirked, clinking mugs with him. "Likewise. But from now on, let's keep it between us. Wouldn't want the whole guild to faint if they knew half of what we just said."
"Yeah," Levi chuckled, glancing at the crowd of adventurers still whispering among themselves. "They already think we're talking in Dragon Tongue. If they knew it was just Earth languages, they'd probably combust."
Dust, overhearing again, slammed his mug on the table. "See? I told you! It was Dragon Tongue! Look at 'em clink mugs like a secret draconic pact!"
A random adventurer gasped. "Then… then does that mean Levi and the Blue Knight are forming the Dragon Knight Alliance?!"
Another one whispered loudly, "That sounds so cool… but also terrifying!"
Levi and Kyouya exchanged a look, both stifling laughter as the guild worked itself into a frenzy of wild rumors.
Levi walked over to Yunyun, who had been anxiously clutching her staff through the whole exchange. He smiled and motioned toward the door.
"Let's go, Yunyun."
Yunyun tilted her head, cheeks puffed in curiosity. "Um… Levi-sama, what was that language you were speaking with the Blue Knight? It didn't sound like anything from the magic tomes I've studied…"
Levi chuckled, patting her gently on the head. "Don't worry. I'll teach you later."
Her eyes widened, sparkling. "R-really?! You'd share such a secret with me?"
"Of course," Levi smirked. "But be warned—it's a tongue so powerful it can summon confusion, chaos, and awkward silences across any tavern it's spoken in."
Yunyun gasped. "A forbidden language?!" She clutched her staff tighter, imagining some kind of world-ending spell.
Levi just grinned and walked toward the exit, his slime bouncing after him. If only she knew I just meant English class homework back on Earth…
Kyouya glanced at Levi, his arms crossed with that knightly pride of his.
"Perhaps on the next quest, both of our parties can work together."
Levi smirked, tilting his head just slightly. "A high-level quest, then. Very well… I wouldn't mind seeing how the Blue Knight of Axel handles himself when things get serious."
Kyouya's lips curled into a confident smile. "Hmph. Don't underestimate me. When the time comes, I'll prove my sword isn't just for show."
Levi's eyes gleamed. "Good. I wouldn't respect you if it was."
The air between them grew heavy with a strange mix of rivalry and respect, while the guild members watching whispered among themselves.
Two knights in the same town? This is either the beginning of something great… or a disaster waiting to happen.
After a few minutes, Wiz was smiling warmly as Yunyun eagerly explained how she had tested the new spell Wiz had taught her.
"It was amazing, Wiz-san! I actually managed to use it in battle! Thanks to that, I finally reached Level 2!"
"That's wonderful, Yunyun!" Wiz clapped her hands together, her face beaming with pride.
Yunyun scratched the back of her head, her cheeks pink. "Y-yeah… Inferno Thunder Burst is really strong, but… uhm… the backlash…"
Levi, who had been quietly sipping from his mug, set it down with a small sigh. "Yes. I saw that. Your whole arm went numb for almost a minute. Care to explain, Wiz?"
Wiz let out her trademark nervous laugh, fidgeting with her hands. "A-ah, well… that might be because… um… that spell wasn't… exactly… designed for humans."
"E-EH!?" Yunyun yelped, nearly falling off her chair.
Levi facepalmed, groaning. "So you gave her a spell meant for… what? Dragons? Demons?"
Wiz sighed, her smile turning apologetic. "It's for magical beings… well, like me. A lich. Normally, if a human mage used it, they'd have all their mana drained instantly and just collapse, limp on the ground."
Yunyun froze, eyes wide. "W-wait… what!?"
Wiz quickly raised her hands, flustered. "B-but Yunyun isn't a normal human! She's special. That's why she only felt some backlash instead of collapsing outright."
Levi gave Yunyun a sharp, evaluating look, then turned back to Wiz. "…You're telling me you casually gave her a spell that should've turned her into a lifeless puddle on the floor, but it just so happens she resisted because she's not 'normal'?"
Yunyun fidgeted, cheeks heating up. "S-so I'm… not normal…?"
Wiz nodded earnestly, almost proud. "Exactly! It's amazing, really! You must have a naturally high mana tolerance, Yunyun. Otherwise, you wouldn't even be able to cast that spell."
Levi leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, smirking slightly. "Heh. I knew there was more to you, Yunyun. Looks like the Crimson Demon clan wasn't exaggerating after all."
Yunyun covered her face, torn between embarrassment and pride. "D-don't say it like that!"
Wiz clapped her hands together, looking delighted. "See? She's perfect for it!"
Levi muttered under his breath, "Or perfect for accidentally blowing up half a forest one day…"
Yunyun went quiet, staring at her hand as if she could see something hidden beneath the skin. Her voice trembled. "…Is it because of my demon blood?"
Wiz let out a thoughtful hum, tapping her chin. "So that's why you withstood the spell's backlash. The demon blood within you is still… intact."
Yunyun stiffened, looking down at her hand as she repeated. "Is it… because of my demon blood?"
Wiz gave her a gentle nod. "Yes. I'm actually surprised—it's rare for a Crimson Demon to still carry it so strongly. Most families lost it through dilution generations ago."
Levi raised an eyebrow, though he didn't look too shocked. His face stayed calm, but in his mind he was screaming. "Wait—hold up, what do you mean Yunyun's got demon blood?! That was NOT in canon notes. Did I miss a lore DLC"?
Yunyun shifted nervously, cheeks burning. "…M-my family… didn't dilute the bloodline. For a long time, we… practiced inbreeding."
There was a pause. Wiz blinked slowly. The slime tilted its head. Levi's soul left his body for a second.
'Bruh. Straight Alabama Crimson Demons. I did NOT need this knowledge'.
Yunyun buried her face in her hands, voice muffled. "It was my great-great-great-grandfather who finally stopped it, o-okay?!"
Wiz, ever the kindhearted Lich, just smiled warmly. "Nothing to be embarrassed about, Yunyun. In fact, it explains why your magic potential is unique. You should be proud."
Levi sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Proud, huh… sure. Let's just not go announcing that part of the family history, yeah?"
The slime bobbed in agreement.
Yunyun peeked through her fingers, mortified. "…C-can we please never talk about this again?"
Levi smirked, patting her shoulder. "Don't worry, Yunyun. It'll stay between us… and the slime."
The slime gurgled cheerfully, as if promising to keep the secret.
Wiz adjusted her glasses, her voice turning serious.
"Still, you must be careful, Yunyun. Depending on whether your ancestor was Lilith or Lucifer… your demon blood may manifest very different effects and potentials."
Yunyun froze. "L-Lilith or… Lucifer?! Wait—those are real?!"
Wiz nodded. "Yes. Lilith's descendants often carry powerful enchantment or charm magic, sometimes even curses tied to the night. Lucifer's bloodline, however… usually manifests destructive power, overwhelming mana, and occasionally… horns."
Levi choked on his own breath. Horns?! Please no, don't tell me Yunyun's gonna sprout Doom Slayer DLC features in the middle of Axel.
Yunyun waved her hands frantically, her face pale. "W-wait, wait, wait! What if it's neither? M-maybe my family's demon blood just makes my magic a little stronger, that's all! Right?! RIGHT?!"
Wiz tilted her head. "Well… you did survive a spell that should've left you mana-drained for three days straight. That's not 'a little stronger,' Yunyun."
The slime gurgled ominously, as if agreeing with Wiz.
Levi groaned, rubbing his temple. "Great. So either Yunyun becomes a seduction succubus with death glares… or a walking artillery cannon with horns. Yeah, that's not terrifying at all."
Yunyun grabbed his sleeve, almost in tears. "Levi-sama! Don't say it like that!"
Levi patted her head with a small grin. "Relax, I'll keep you from turning into the final boss. Probably."
Wiz smiled brightly, as if she hadn't just dropped a lore bomb. "Don't worry, Yunyun! As long as you don't push yourself too far… nothing should awaken prematurely."
Levi's eyes twitched. Keyword: prematurely. Dammit, Wiz.
Levi kept his poker face, his arms crossed, eyes locked on Wiz.
"…Can you tell which one was her ancestor?"
Wiz shook her head with a soft sigh. "No. Even if I can sense magic… and even the traces of her demon blood. Just like how I can sense you are a Dragon, Levi-sama… Yunyun is still too low of a level for me to get a correct answer."
Yunyun gasped and pointed at him. "W-wait—you told her?!"
Levi didn't flinch, his expression calm as ever. "No. She figured it out herself."
Wiz nodded innocently. "Yes. Dragons have a very distinct aura. It's like standing next to a burning sun, even if you try to suppress it."
Yunyun's eyes sparkled with betrayal and awe. "S-s-so you're basically screaming dragon to every high-level mage we meet?!"
Levi smirked faintly, taking a sip of tea from the counter like it was nothing. "Yup. Good thing most people in this town aren't sharp enough to notice."
The slime gurgled in agreement, bubbling smugly beside him.
Yunyun groaned, burying her face in her hands. "First me with demon blood, now you glowing like a dragon firefly! Our party's going to get labeled the 'monster squad' at this rate!"
Levi leaned back casually, poker face unbroken.
"…Better than being canon fodder."
Wiz blinked. "Canon… fodder?"
Levi coughed. "Nothing. Just—don't worry about it."
Yunyun looked at him shyly, twiddling her fingers together. "So… um, Levi-sama… what would you like my ancestor to be? L-Lilith… or Lucifer?"
Levi's poker face didn't crack, but inside his head alarms were blaring.
Nope nope nope nope nope. There is no correct answer to that. This is one of those questions where every path leads to death. Abort. Abort.
He took a slow sip of tea, stalling for time.
"…Well," he said smoothly, "both are… impressive. Legendary even."
Yunyun's eyes lit up. "R-really?"
"Of course," Levi said, still calm on the outside. If I say Lilith, she'll think I see her as some kind of temptress. If I say Lucifer, she'll think I'm calling her evil royalty. If I say neither, she'll cry. There's no winning here.
Wiz, meanwhile, tilted her head curiously. "Personally, I think Lilith's blood would make more sense. Yunyun does have that… um… softer aura. Less… destructive."
Yunyun blushed furiously. "S-so you think I'm more like… Lilith…?" She covered her cheeks. "T-that's embarrassing!"
Levi coughed into his fist, poker face unchanging. "Yes, yes. Embarrassing. Very."
Inside his head:
Oh thank god, Wiz took the bullet for me. Crisis averted. For now.
Levi kept his calm smile, but in his head, the calculations were running wild.
So basically… my waifu can either become a semi–Demon Lord… or a semi–Succubus.
He sipped his tea again, eyes half-lidded.
One path leads to world domination. The other path leads to me never getting a full night's sleep again. Great. Just great.
Yunyun, meanwhile, was nervously poking her fingers together, stealing glances at him. "Levi-sama… w-would you… still accept me… if I became… something scary?"
Levi reached out and patted her head, keeping his voice level and reassuring.
"Yunyun, you're already scary. Remember the goblin camp? They're still smoking."
She puffed her cheeks, embarrassed. Wiz covered her mouth to stifle a laugh.
Levi leaned back in his chair, poker face unbroken.
Semi-Demon Lord waifu or semi-Succubus waifu… Either way, this is above my pay grade. But hey—at least it's not Aqua.
Wiz adjusted her robe, thinking carefully before speaking. "Yunyun… there is a spell I know. A Bloodline Resonance Spell. If we perform it, it could confirm whether your blood descends from Lilith… or Lucifer."
Yunyun's eyes widened. "R-really? That would… that would settle it then."
She turned to Levi expectantly. Wiz looked at him too, her expression half-serious, half-nervous. "Of course… it would require a trusted partner to channel with you. Someone you're… bound to, in some way."
Levi already saw the flags waving in his mind. His hand shot up in a sharp ✖ across his chest.
"Nope. Not happening. I think we'll let time tell that one."
Yunyun blinked. "E-eh? But why not—?"
Levi leaned in, deadpan. "Yunyun, this is the same world where succubi run a rental service. Do you really wanna roll those dice?"
Yunyun's face went crimson. Wiz tilted her head innocently. "Well… technically the ritual does resemble certain… succubus contracts…"
Levi raised an eyebrow at Wiz. "See? Exactly my point. We're not speedrunning the 'Oops, I married a succubus' route."
Yunyun buried her face in her hands, mumbling, "I-I wasn't even thinking about that!"
Levi smirked, sipping his tea again, hiding the little thought that slipped through his head:
…Though if she did turn out to be Lilith's descendant, that would explain the cute pout.
Yunyun tilted her head, blinking innocently. "Wait… what's this rental service the succubi run?"
The room went silent.
Levi froze mid-sip of his tea. Wiz, who had just lifted a potion to hide her face, nearly dropped it.
Both of them spoke in unison, voices a little too sharp.
"We will explain that on a different day."
Yunyun flinched, looking between them nervously. "Eh? W-why are you both acting like that? Is it… something scary?"
Levi coughed into his fist, turning his gaze away. "Yep. Super scary. Definitely not something you need to know until you're… much older."
Wiz's cheeks flushed as she nodded frantically. "V-very dangerous magic! Only for adults!"
Levi shot her a side glance. "Wow, Wiz, way to make it sound more suspicious."
Yunyun puffed her cheeks. "I'm not a kid, you know! I'm an adventurer! Level 2 now!"
Levi reached over and patted her head with a straight face.
"Trust me, Yunyun. This is one dungeon you don't want to clear early."
Yunyun just looked more confused, while Wiz quietly buried her face in her hands, muttering, "Oh no, she's going to find out on her own someday…"
