Chapter 13 - Axel No.1 Party

A few months had passed since the Peacock incident.

Wiz's shop was quiet.

Which, paradoxically, meant it was louder than usual.

Levi sat at the small round table, calmly sipping his tea, posture relaxed, gunblade resting against the chair like it belonged there. Yunyun was seated across from him, buried in a thick tome titled "Demonic Bloodlines, Infernal Hierarchies, and Why This Is Probably Your Ancestor's Fault." Wiz hovered nearby, pointing at passages and occasionally apologizing for absolutely no reason.

The slime sat on the floor, wobbling happily.

For once, nothing was exploding.

Levi exhaled slowly.

"This… is nice."

Yunyun nodded without looking up. "Mhm. According to this chapter, if the demonic blood reacts strongly to emotional stress, it leans toward Lilith's lineage. If it reacts to rage and authority—Lucifer."

She paused.

"…There's also a subsection on romantic affinity amplification."

Levi froze mid-sip.

Wiz coughed politely. "W-we can skip that part for now."

The shop door opened.

A small bell rang.

And immediately, Levi felt it — eyes on him.

Two adventurers walked in, took one look at Wiz chatting comfortably with Levi and Yunyun, stiffened, and whispered loudly.

"Is that him?"

"The Noble Warrior of Axel?"

"The half-dragon guy?"

"Why does he look so calm—"

Levi glanced over. They flinched.

"—Never mind," one muttered, dragging the other to the counter.

Wiz smiled brightly, slipping back into shopkeeper mode.

"Welcome! Take your time browsing!"

As she moved away, Yunyun leaned in slightly. "Levi-sama… people have been coming here a lot more lately."

Levi shrugged. "That's what happens when the strongest lich in town joins a party."

Wiz waved her hands frantically from the counter. "I-I'm not that strong!"

Levi and Yunyun said in unison, without hesitation:

"Yes, you are."

Wiz melted into embarrassed silence.

Outside, rumors were spreading.

Fast.

Axel's adventurers whispered about it in the guild hall, in taverns, even on quests.

The Noble Warrior of Axel

The Crimson Demon Prodigy

The Lich Shopkeeper

A party that cleared a multi-threat dark-mark quest

A roc in five minutes

A peacock army annihilated

Zero casualties

Someone, somewhere, had already started calling them: "Axel's No.1 Party."

Levi didn't care.

Titles didn't matter.

Reputation didn't matter.

What mattered was that when things went wrong — and in Axel, they always did — people wouldn't die.

Yunyun suddenly looked up from her book.

"Levi-sama… um… if my ancestor is Lilith…"

Levi set his teacup down gently.

"…Then what?"

She hesitated. "Would… that change how you see me?"

For a moment, the shop was quiet.

Then Levi reached out and gently tapped her forehead with one finger.

"You're Yunyun," he said simply. "Ancestor or not."

Her face turned red instantly. "I-I see…"

Wiz smiled softly from behind the counter, watching the scene like someone who already knew how this story would end.

The bell rang again.

Another customer entered.

And just like that, Axel's calm before the next disaster continued

Levi then put his tea down, as he sighed. "So, like, how did Axel learn I was half dragon, I made sure to keep that a secret".

Wiz thought for a bit. "How many people know?"

Levi pointed at her. "You, Me, Yunyun, Luna and Kyouya".

Yunyun chuckled as she spoke. "Everyone thinks it's a runner, so no worries".

Levi snorted as he thought to him self. 'Yeah, just wondering who started it'.

Levi leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, eyes half-lidded.

"Still," he said, "Axel isn't exactly subtle. Rumors don't just happen here. Someone starts them."

Wiz tilted her head. "Well… Axel rumors usually begin in three places."

She raised a finger.

"The guild."

Another finger.

"The taverns."

Then a third.

"…Drunk People."

Levi slowly nodded.

"…So the tavern."

Wiz gave a small, apologetic smile. "Almost always the tavern."

Yunyun blinked. "But Levi-sama doesn't even drink that much."

Levi snorted. "I don't. Other people drink about me."

He thought back for a moment—Dust, loud adventurers, the night Kyouya showed up, the peacock chaos aftermath.

Then it clicked.

"…Ah."

Wiz noticed his expression. "You know?"

Levi sighed. "I might have transformed my eyes for half a second."

Yunyun stiffened. "Half a second?!"

"It was dark," Levi defended. "There was Ice. And screaming. And a barbarian having an anime revenge moment."

Wiz nodded thoughtfully. "That does narrow it down."

Levi pinched the bridge of his nose. "Let me guess. Someone yelled 'Did his eyes just glow?!'"

Yunyun raised her hand timidly. "…Three people, actually."

Levi groaned.

Wiz tried to reassure him. "If it helps, most people think it's exaggerated."

"How exaggerated?"

"Well," Wiz said carefully, "some say you're half-dragon."

Levi relaxed slightly.

"Others say you're a full dragon pretending to be human."

Levi froze.

"And a very popular rumor says you're the reincarnation of an ancient Dragon King who sealed his power to live a peaceful life in Axel."

The slime bounced happily.

Levi stared at the ceiling. "…Why is it always worse."

Yunyun looked genuinely impressed. "That one sounds cool though."

"No," Levi said flatly. "That one gets me assassinated."

Wiz clasped her hands. "On the bright side! Axel is used to weird people. A half-dragon noble warrior barely cracks the top ten."

Levi glanced at her. "…What's number one?"

Wiz smiled gently. "A man who steals women's underwear using magic and somehow survives."

Levi paused.

"…Fair."

He leaned forward again, picking up his tea. "Alright. New rule. No glowing eyes, no scales, no dragon aura."

Yunyun nodded seriously. "Understood!"

Wiz added, "I'll also suppress any draconic magical leakage around you."

Levi blinked. "You can do that?"

Wiz smiled sheepishly. "I've been doing it since you joined my party."

Silence.

Levi slowly looked at her. "…Since when."

"…The second day."

Yunyun stared. "Wiz-san?!"

Wiz panicked. "I-I thought it was obvious! Dragons leak magic naturally! And Levi-sama attracts attention already!"

Levi leaned back, staring at the ceiling again.

"…I owe you my life."

Wiz blushed instantly. "I-it's nothing!"

The bell rang.

Another customer entered.

Outside, Axel buzzed with rumors, misunderstandings, and wildly inaccurate legends.

Inside the shop, the future Axel No.1 Party sat quietly, unaware that by tomorrow—

Someone would start a new rumor.

And this one would be even worse.

Later that night…

Deep beneath the water, Levi's underwater mansion was silent.

Soft blue light filtered through enchanted glass walls. Schools of glowing fish drifted lazily past. The currents hummed gently, tuned to a sleep-inducing frequency.

Levi was enjoying the best thing money, magic, and dragon engineering could buy.

Sleep.

Then—

🎵 Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah— 🎵

Levi's eyes snapped open.

"…No."

The water above his bed distorted, space folding in on itself as a glowing divine portal tore open like reality had lost a bet. Holy light flooded the room, clashing violently with the calm, dignified aesthetic Levi had spent weeks perfecting.

A familiar blue-haired goddess slammed into existence midair.

"AQUA?!"

She was crying.

Like—ugly crying.

A massive magic circle spun beneath her feet, divine runes flashing, flickering, and very clearly malfunctioning.

"LEEEEVIIII—!!" Aqua screamed, tears flying everywhere. "HELP ME! AN ADVENTURER PICKED ME AS THEIR PERK AND NOW I'M BEING SENT TO AXEL AND TIME FLOWS WEIRD HERE AND I DON'T WANNA GOOOO—!!"

Levi bolted upright in his waterbed, sheets splashing everywhere.

"—WAIT. STOP. BACK UP." He rubbed his eyes. "First of all, HOW are you contacting me after reincarnating me?"

"I DON'T KNOW—!!" Aqua wailed. "I PRESSED A BUTTON AND THE SYSTEM DID A THING AND THEN I THOUGHT OF YOU AND IT CONNECTED—!!"

Levi stared.

"…You pressed a button."

"Yes!!"

"…A divine system button."

"Yes!!"

"…Without knowing what it does."

"Yes!!"

Levi pinched the bridge of his nose.

"WHY is it always like this with you?"

The magic circle flared brighter.

Aqua shrieked. "IT'S PULLING ME—!! LEVI, I'M BEGGING YOU, DON'T LET ME GET STUCK WITH SOME RANDOM LOSER—!!"

Levi's eyes widened. "Wait—what adventurer?"

"I DON'T KNOW—!! SOME SHUT-IN WITH A TRACKSUIT—!!"

Levi froze.

Tracksuit.

Shut-in.

Adventurer.

"…Oh no."

The portal began collapsing, divine light spiraling inward like a drain.

"AQUA!" Levi shouted. "Listen to me very carefully!"

"I'M LISTENING—!!"

"You are going to Axel."

"I KNOW—!!"

"You are going to meet a guy named Kazuma."

"…WHO?!"

Levi pointed straight at her through the portal. "DO NOT. UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. SCREW HIM OVER MORE THAN CANON."

"WHAT IS CANON—?!"

The pull intensified.

Aqua flailed. "LEVI, WAIT—!! I DON'T WANNA BE POOR—!! I DON'T WANNA LIVE IN A STABLE—!! I DON'T WANNA—!!"

The portal snapped shut with a divine pop.

Silence.

Water gently sloshed back into place.

Levi sat there, dripping, staring at where the portal had been.

Five seconds passed.

Ten.

He slowly leaned back into his bed.

"…So," he muttered to himself, staring at the ceiling of his underwater mansion, "the plot of Konosuba has officially started."

The slime companion plopped onto his chest.

Levi sighed.

"Fuck."

He rolled onto his side, eyes narrowing with resolve.

"Alright. New priority list."

He raised a finger.

"One: prepare for Aqua."

Another finger.

"Two: damage control for Kazuma."

A third.

"And three…"

A slow, dangerous smile spread across his face.

"…this time, I'm not letting the universe bully the main cast unchecked."

Outside the mansion, the currents shifted.

Far away, in Japan—

A shut-in teenager sneezed.

And fate began sprinting toward Axel at full speed.

The next morning — Wiz's Shop

The bell over the door gave a soft ding, then silence followed.

Levi leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, expression flat.

"…And that's everything."

For a solid three seconds, no one spoke.

Wiz stared at him, eyes unfocused, hands still holding a teacup that had long since gone cold.

Yunyun's soul visibly attempted to leave her body.

Kyouya calmly took another sip of tea.

Finally—

Wiz blinked. Once. Twice.

"…You are a reincarnation?"

Levi nodded. "Technically, the correct terms are Isekai'd or Transmigrator."

Kyouya gestured with his cup. "I already knew, but yeah—Transmigrator fits better."

Yunyun slowly raised a hand. "S-so… you died?"

"Yes."

"And a goddess sent you here?"

"Yes."

"And that goddess is—"

"Aqua."

Yunyun made a noise that was somewhere between a squeak and a Windows shutdown sound.

Wiz gently set her teacup down before it slipped from her fingers.

"…The Aqua?" she asked carefully. "The useless—"

"Yes."

"The crying—"

"Yes."

"The one who causes divine-scale property damage—"

"Yes."

Wiz closed her eyes and took a long, undead breath.

"I see."

Kyouya, meanwhile, looked far more amused than he probably should have been.

"So," he said casually, "she finally got chosen as a perk, huh."

Levi groaned. "Don't remind me. She called me in the middle of the night screaming like reality itself was kidnapping her."

Yunyun's eyes widened. "S-she can do that?"

"She shouldn't be able to," Levi replied flatly. "And yet."

He shrugged.

"She said something about time flowing differently, then got dragged off mid-scream. If I had to guess…"

He tapped the table.

"…she's already on her way to Axel. Or she'll arrive tomorrow. Or she arrived yesterday and is already in debt."

Kyouya smirked. "That last one sounds the most likely."

Wiz frowned slightly. "If Aqua-sama is coming to Axel… then the balance of the city will change."

Levi looked at her. "Oh, it absolutely will. Downward. Rapidly."

Yunyun nervously twisted her fingers. "W-what does that mean for us?"

Levi leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table.

"It means," he said calmly, "that very soon, Axel will gain a new adventurer."

He paused.

"One with abysmal luck, questionable intelligence, and a divine problem magnet attached to his soul."

Kyouya nodded. "Kazuma."

Yunyun tilted her head. "Who?"

Levi stood up.

"Problem."

That word alone made Wiz stiffen slightly.

"…Prooblem?"

Levi sighed. "Yeah. problem."

He glanced around the shop—at Wiz, at Yunyun, at Kyouya.

"We've been doing too well," he said. "Stable income. Functional teamwork. No catastrophic daily explosions."

Yunyun smiled shyly. "I thought that was good…"

"It is," Levi replied. "Which is exactly why fate is about to punch Axel in the face."

Outside, the wind shifted.

Somewhere far away, a divine light descended toward a certain stable.

Levi straightened his coat.

"Alright," he said. "New phase."

Wiz tilted her head. "Phase?"

Levi smiled—a calm, dangerous smile.

"Operation: Contain the Goddess."

Kyouya raised his cup. "I'm in."

Yunyun swallowed. "…Do we survive?"

Levi patted her head. "Probably."

And somewhere in Axel—

A blue-haired goddess was about to scream very loudly.

Wiz's Shop — Moments Later

Wiz looked at Levi, her expression caught somewhere between concern and resignation.

"So," she asked gently, "what now?"

Levi stretched his arms over his head, joints popping, far too relaxed for someone predicting divine disaster.

"To the guild hall," he said. "We wait for her there."

Kyouya set his cup down. "Smart. If Aqua's arriving, the guild will be the epicenter of the chaos."

Yunyun nodded quickly. "A-and if something explodes, it's better if Luna is already there… r-right?"

Levi gave her a thumbs-up. "Exactly. Damage control."

Wiz sighed, pulling her hood up slightly. "I had hoped today would just be inventory and tea…"

Levi smirked. "Welcome to being in my party."

Moments later, they stepped out of the shop.

Axel was unusually peaceful.

The streets were calm. The sky was clear. Birds chirped.

Levi immediately narrowed his eyes.

"…Yeah. That's suspicious."

Kyouya chuckled. "You've been here long enough to know better."

They made their way toward the guild hall, Levi's gunblade resting comfortably in its holster, Yunyun sticking close, Wiz gliding along with her usual quiet grace.

As the guild building came into view, Levi stopped.

He felt it.

A pressure in the air. A faint divine ripple—like reality itself bracing.

He muttered under his breath, "She's close."

Wiz's eyes sharpened. "I feel it too."

Kyouya cracked his neck. "Alright then."

The doors to the guild hall swung open.

Inside, adventurers laughed, argued, drank—normal Axel chaos.

For now.

Levi took one step forward and spoke calmly, clearly.

"Luna."

From behind the counter, the receptionist looked up.

"Yes, Levi?"

He met her eyes.

"…You might want to reinforce the ceiling."

Luna blinked. "Why—"

Before she could finish—

A blinding blue magic circle erupted in the center of the guild hall.

Wind blasted outward. Papers flew. Chairs scraped.

Every adventurer froze.

Levi exhaled slowly.

"…And here we go."

From the glowing circle came a familiar, panicked scream.

"LEEEEVIIII—!!!"

The light flared brighter.

And Axel's peaceful morning officially ended.
