The students of Shrek Academy had been travelling to Sky Dou Royal City.
The students and teachers travelled by caravan. The roads were bumpy and soft, causing the caravan to shift from side to side like a boat out at sea.
"I always wondered how people from midieval times can withstand this rocky travels." Liu Yan thought as he almost fell over from a particularly deep hole on the road.
"Students, we will be stopping at Xier Weisi city to rest." Flender said as he looked at the map.
"Eh? Why that city specifically?" Zhao WuJi asked in confusion.
"We need to earn some money, and in that city, there's a battle colloseum" Grandmaster explained.
"What do you mean we can't compete!" Flender slammed his hand on a receptionist's table.
"S-sorry sir, but there are simply no gold grade teams here" said the timid receptionist.
"What about silver grade?" Flender tried to calm down but even silver grade teams were not present.
"Uh-uhm. What about trying class skipping matches?"
"No way! Flender, you better not! We can't risk it!" Zhao WuJi immediately yelled, even though he was snickering earlier on.
Sigh
"Yeah. We won't be competing then." Flender said with a heavy sigh and prepared to leave when…
"Hold on, let me take a look" Grandmaster said as he walked towards the reception desk.
"May I ask if there any murderous teams? The crueler the better."
"Xiao Gang! What are you doing, are you trying to get these kids killed?"
"Uh, there is…" the receptionist flipped through a thick book filled with all the registered teams and where they are.
"The vicious deity team. A silver badge team with spirit ancestors. Are you really sure?" The receptionist asked, too many had died or had been disabled by this vile team.
Grandmaster read their information carefully, Flender peeked at it as well.
"A team with a record of severely injuring or killing their opponents in every match. 63 deaths and 98 permanently disabled."
"They are truly inhumane" Flender felt bad for those that were unfortunate enough to go against them.
"We'll compete"
Silence
"What!!" One of the shrek teachers yelled out.
"No! They're too vicious. Those kids will die!"
"Have you lost your mind, grandmaster?!"
"Do you really trust grandmaster, Xiao San."
"Uhh, his methods are questionable sometimes. But he should have good reasons to act upon them… hopefully" Tang San said while scratching his head.
"That's not reassuring at all!" HongJun said.
"If they are murderous, then we shall use murderous ways too." Grandmaster stated, only loud enough for them and the receptionist to hear.
"You mean, you want them to draw blood?"
"Yes, this is something they will hae to experience sooner or later. Better in a controlled environment than out in the wild"
"I trust you, Xiao Gang." Flender said, but his tone was heavy.
"May both team come onto the stage!" The emcee called out.
"Shred them! Kill them!!" The audience chanted again and again.
The scarred and bruised members of Viscious Deity Team steppd onto the stage. They were thirsty for blood.
"Begin!" The emcee announced, knowing that yet another bloodbath was about to begin.
"Pull out the weapons!" Tang San ordered as the all seven except Ying Xuan and Oscar who sat this one out pulled out a metal crossbow.
"Tang San's Zhu Ge Liang Crossbow, truly an exceptional design." Liu Yan commented.
"Xiao Gang, you think those arrows will be able to pierce the defense of soul ancestors?"
"No." Grandmaster replied curtly
"What?!"
"But, who would use their strongest defense against weaker people?" Grandmaster understood the pattern and behaviour of people.
"Fire!" Tang San fired with the others, as the opponent charged.
Shaak! Cling!
The arrows shot through the members of viscious deity team and impaled itself into the opposite wall.
Silence followed suit.
No one could process what happened, no one wanted to believe it did.
Thump
BLURGHHH
The members of Viscious Deity team fell onto their backs, vomiting blood, some choked and drank theirnow blood. It flowed continuously.
The members on stage ran back execpt Tang San and Liu Yan.
"Hurk!" Liu Yan almost puked right there.
"I need a minute…" he started walking back while covering his mouth.
Tang San watched for a moment longer before walking back.
"BLEGH!" They puked, they had drawn blood themselves. They were bleeding because of them.
"I-I didn't mean to" Xiao Wu muttered.
"Now, you know the taste of killing." Grabdmaster approached.
"Why did you let them do that!" Ying Xuan demanded.
"This is the reality of this world. The strong eat the weak. If you want to become a soul master worthy of recognition. You must throw away your kindness!"
"If that is what it takes to be a soul master, then I'd rather not be one!" Oscar said, reflecting on what he had just seen happen.
"Do you all really think this way?" Grandmaster asked the final question.
There was silence, but everyone had the dame quiet agreement.
"Then look behind you." Grandmaster pointed back towards the stage.
They looked back and saw their opponent coughing, limping. But alive.
"I had Xiao San tweak your crossbows. To teach you that you must kill, but also… to know whether you will remain humane on your path on becoming a soul master." Grandmaster said.
"Even though this world is cruel, you must learn to be humane and keep this world at peace. That! Is the lesson I must teach you." Grandmaster said.
