Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: US Police vs. The Creeper - Helicopter Sweep

Chapter 37: US Police vs. The Creeper - Helicopter Sweep

On the highway, a large number of patrol cars surrounded the vicinity of the pipeline, and every officer had their sidearm drawn and ready.

A bright searchlight shone down from the sky.

A police helicopter slowly descended, and the tactical officers on board adjusted their weapons to aim at the inside of the pipeline.

Such a large display left bystanders stunned.

Some even stopped their cars, took out their phones to record, while others tried to get closer to see what was happening inside.

At this point, the police had started shouting commands.

They also tried to contact the officers who had previously entered the pipeline, but received no response.

Just as the Deputy Chief was considering whether to send a tactical team in to investigate, a roar from inside the pipeline shattered his thoughts.

At this moment, the officers on the front line were infinitely close to the pipe opening.

Their colleagues behind them and the helicopter gave them a great sense of security.

The first officer cautiously looked down into the opening.

It was at this very instant.

A dark figure rushed out, carrying a severed head in its hand. The officer who had just looked was already lying on the ground.

The true face of the dark figure was exposed to everyone.

The officers stared wide-eyed at the monster before them, wondering what on earth it was.

The Creeper was very angry. A thin layer of green skin under his neck spread out with his fury, like a lizard displaying, making the Creeper even more hideous.

The Deputy Chief looked at the Creeper, hesitated for a second, then gave the order to open fire.

"Open fire!"

Handguns, rifles, countless rounds of ammunition poured out.

The Creeper dodged left and right, fleeing toward the field embankment. Even when shot, he paid no attention, his speed quickly breaking through the line of fire.

The helicopter's searchlight continuously illuminated his position.

The gunner aimed at the position and quickly opened fire, strafing with heavy rounds. The dense bullets were like a stream of fire targeting the Creeper.

The Creeper raised his arm to block. Bullets passed through his body but did not reduce him to a pile of flesh, only causing minor damage.

If one looked closely, they would notice that a small black mist was generated when bullets passed through the Creeper's body, and it was this dark energy that helped him resist the bullet attacks.

"Screech!"

The Creeper discovered the airborne threat wasn't as strong as he thought. Originally, seeing the large number of people, he'd wanted to escape, but now...

With a roar, a pair of huge bat-like wings grew from his back, and he charged toward the helicopter, enduring the gunfire.

It was too late when the pilot tried to pull up.

Under the full moon,

Darry had just arrived by car, and as Danny opened the door, he saw the helicopter lose control and crash from the sky in the distance.

The violent explosion and flames were clearly visible even from several hundred yards away.

One could only say the Creeper was no longer an ordinary creature.

If the helicopter had maintained its distance, the alpha crawler, if surrounded, would most likely have been captured.

But then again, the Creeper could fly.

Danny saw the Creeper in the moonlight. With a flap of his wings, he swooped down toward the police, and each swoop inevitably claimed lives.

He couldn't let him keep killing like this.

If everyone died, it would be his and Darry's turn.

Danny, having merged with the alpha crawler, left ahead of Darry. Only after he'd integrated into the darkness did he fully unleash his speed.

At this moment on the highway,

the curious onlookers had long since been scared away.

Only the police officers remained, unable to retreat. The Creeper was very vengeful, and the scene directly devolved into a slaughterhouse, becoming a one-sided massacre.

Danny approached and hid behind a patrol car, not acting rashly. The Creeper's ability to fly was very disadvantageous to him.

Fortunately, the ghost card could be summoned instantly, and the position where the card appeared was where the monster appeared, so he could use this advantage.

At this moment, he suddenly noticed something and looked under the car.

Art the Clown was hiding under the vehicle. Danny's order to him was to investigate, and since he couldn't defeat the Creeper, there was no need to go up and suffer. Being contained wasn't dying—his mind was still intact.

"Art, come out. You go up and attract the Creeper's attention."

Art revealed a smile uglier than crying, obediently crawled out from under the car, then took a hammer from his garbage bag and rushed forward without hesitation.

The Creeper was hunting and was about to attack the officer in front of him when he suddenly took a hammer to the head.

He slowly turned around, and at some point, a black and white clown had appeared before him, even giving him a theatrical smile as if performing.

The surviving officers were able to catch their breath, and they didn't forget to warn their savior.

"Hey clown, you'd better run!"

The Creeper revealed a ferocious grin, walked up to Art, and backhanded him.

Art's head rotated 360 degrees, but strangely, the clown did not die.

Danny had already crept closer. He didn't advance further, and a Four of Diamonds appeared in his hand.

This position wasn't ideal, and an officer had spotted him.

The Deputy Chief made a gesture, signaling Danny to leave quickly, but Danny didn't understand and gave the officer a shushing gesture.

The Creeper had already lifted Art, preparing to tear him apart. Art still had a smile on his face as he was lifted.

The ghost card in Danny's hand flew out silently.

With a thought in Danny's mind,

a terrifying monster covered in bone spurs appeared out of thin air above the Creeper, directly pinning him down, holding him tightly, and then its bone spurs violently expanded.

Like a mutated porcupine, its bone spurs could retract and extend at will.

The alpha crawler's bone spurs pierced through the Creeper's entire body, including his newly unfurled wings.

Art scrambled away, but he didn't crawl fast because his lower body had also been pierced by bone spurs, so he could only drag himself.

Danny breathed a sigh of relief at the sight.

The Deputy Chief witnessed everything, looking at Danny with suspicion, ready to draw his weapon at any moment.

"I am a demonologist. This monster is my containment object. You might not believe it, but that's the truth. Besides, I saved you all. You shouldn't point a gun at me, should you?"

The Deputy Chief hesitated for a moment, then lowered his weapon, choosing to believe Danny.

Looking at the alpha crawler, if Danny wanted to kill him, there would be no need for this elaborate setup, plus he had indeed saved his men.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

Danny stepped forward to check the situation and found the Creeper was not dead, merely unable to break free from the alpha's embrace, nor could he pierce its defense.

Good.

If the Creeper truly took to the sky, even Danny would be helpless against him.

The Creeper's flight altitude was even higher than a helicopter's.

The surviving officers were very panicked.

At the crucial moment, the Deputy Chief stepped forward to stabilize the situation and informed everyone of Danny's identity as a demonologist, which finally calmed things down.

Only then did Danny realize this middle-aged man was actually the Deputy Chief of the station.

"Deputy Chief, I plan to take this creature for containment. You don't mind, do you?"

The Deputy Chief glanced at the alpha crawler, which was as large as a small vehicle, covered in vicious bone spurs, and the Creeper struggling in its embrace, then revealed an exceptionally friendly smile.

"Sir, you may dispose of it as you wish. I have no objections whatsoever. Oh, by the way, may I add your contact information?"

Danny smiled at the cooperative Deputy Chief.

"Of course."

By the time Darry drove over, the matter had already been resolved. When he learned from the officers that Danny was a demonologist, his view of him changed.

Originally, he'd been somewhat unhappy about his sister being with this guy, but now he had an idea...
