I sighed, watching the kids run away after calling me a creep.
I mean, I didn't want to act like this, but what choice did I have when this was the only way for me to get stronger?
It had been about a week since I fell into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and up until now, my life had been pretty boring.
Well, I did have my own special ability like any other main character should, but mine was a little weird; to grow stronger, I had to make people afraid of me. It was a task easier said than done.
I sat at a bench in the now deserted playground, having scared off all the kids. I'd probably have to move away soon, lest one of them come back with their very angry parents.
For the past week, I had been pulling all sorts of nonsense to make people afraid of me.
Of course, nothing I had done was illegal, so I was forced to do stupid shit like this.
There was always the option of doing darker stuff, for example, one idea I had was to stage one of those beheading videos... which, after some thought, wasn't too smart.
Sure, it'd probably scare a lot of people, but it would also get me on the wrong side of some people I had no business interacting with at this point in my journey.
Currently, it's 2011, and S.H.I.E.L.D is at its peak, so I'd rather not do anything that got me on their database.
At some point I would inevitably catch their attention, but I would prefer it to be at a point where I'd be strong enough to outright ignore them.

'Anyway, I'm almost at my first goal.'
I idly scrolled through my aptly named Fear Shop, looking at all the thousands of abilities I could buy. I stopped on several particularly notable ones that I recognised well.

Yami Yami No Mi - 152,000 FP
Gun Devil Hybrid Contract - 500,000 FP
Mahoraga's Adaptation - 1,200,000 FP
The Almighty - 75,000,000 FP
Naturally, I wanted to buy all of them immediately. For example, Yhwach's The Almighty would give me strength beyond the infinity stones, but...
I was dead broke, too poor to even afford the lowest-level abilities costing a few hundred FP.
Right now, even the Sharingan was a pipe dream for me.
Maybe if I became some legendary creep who scared thousands of kids, I'd be able to buy it... But I'd probably end up on a sex offender registry long before then.
Ignoring that, for whatever reason, all the abilities seemed to be based around anime, an odd choice considering he was in the MCU.

Regardless, even if I'm far away from buying any good abilities, I'm about to hit my first major milestone.

To commemorate the host reaching their first milestone, they may buy this package to receive one random ability ranging from a cost of 100 to 100,000 FP.
This was the goal I had been working towards. If I could pull an ability in the higher FP range, I'd immediately be able to snowball upwards.
Although it was out of the given range, if I obtained something similar to the Yami Yami No Mi, I'd instantly be able to get probably hundreds of thousands of FP.
Right now, I was in the time before the first Avengers movie, meaning that 'meta' humans weren't an established thing.
Iron Man had revealed his identity, and Captain America was obviously well known as a super soldier, but nothing regarding magic and mysticism was known to the public.
So if I got a very flashy magical ability, I'd pretty much be able to announce "Hey assholes! Magic is real!" and farm a boatload of FP myself.
"Sweetie, is that the bast- I mean, the man who said that to you?"
Hearing a rather irate parent approaching me, I got up off the bench and made a run for it.
