Chapter 35: Shocking Cannibal: You Can Even Attack the Police Station
The old car broke down by the side of the road.
Smoke was already rising from under the hood, so they could only call for a tow, and it wouldn't be fixed anytime soon.
Damn!
Darry was in a bad mood, and seeing the two people in the car being intimate made him even angrier. It hadn't been long, and his annoying sister was practically glued to the other guy.
He had no choice but to call for a tow truck.
Surprisingly, this time there was cell service.
Unfortunately, even with service, calling the police was useless. Danny remembered the Creeper had killed many police officers.
Trish was still clinging to Danny, her heart pounding. What had just happened had truly terrified her.
How could there be such a malicious truck driver?
Darry suddenly remembered the truck driver had rushed to catch up, seemingly afraid of something being discovered.
"Hey, Danny, do you want to come with me to check out where that truck driver was earlier? I suspect he was dumping a body."
Danny was puzzled: "Dumping a body?"
Darry leaned against the car window, blocking the sunlight.
"Yes, I thought I was seeing things earlier, but now it seems it might be true. I personally saw him throw a body wrapped in cloth into a pipe."
Danny thought for a moment and agreed. It was better to follow Darry, the death-seeker expert, than to search on his own.
The two hit it off immediately.
Darry suggested his sister wait for the tow truck there, while he and Danny went to check it out.
Trish immediately protested upon hearing this.
"You're leaving me here alone! What if that truck driver comes back?"
Darry was speechless, so the three of them had to go together.
On the way, Trish didn't forget to scold Darry for his reckless behavior.
In Danny's opinion, the sister was quite intelligent. It was just that her brother was a bit too impulsive.
The three walked and stopped.
They arrived at the place where they'd first seen the truck driver.
It was a black, rusty pipe hidden in the woods by the roadside. Looking down, it was bottomless.
"Hello, is anyone there?"
Darry shouted into the pipe, but no one answered. He still wanted to go in and look, but Trish, seeing the bottomless pipe, stopped her brother's foolish behavior.
Just as the three were about to leave, and Danny was planning to send Art the Clown in to explore,
a faint sound came from inside the pipe.
It was this sound that excited Darry. He was sure there was someone alive down there, and he wanted to go down and save them.
Trish couldn't help but say after hearing Darry's idea.
"Did that car hit your head?"
After speaking, Trish fell silent again. She felt her brother's head might have really been hit just now. The truck driver had rammed them several times, and Darry's head had also hit the steering wheel.
Darry was stubborn.
"No, I just want to save someone. Maybe that truck driver is also a serial killer, and we can even get some reward money."
Trish wanted Danny to help persuade him, but Danny said his intervention might only be counterproductive.
Trish said it didn't matter, and then Danny spoke.
This caused Darry, who was originally a bit hesitant, to feel his pride challenged. He immediately climbed into the dark pipe, and accidentally stepped on something, slipping directly to the bottom.
A heavy thud echoed.
Trish: "..."
Who could she blame?
Trish could only anxiously call out to her brother.
Just as she thought her brother might be dead, a response came from inside.
Darry told them to leave quickly, get help, and call the police, while he'd figure out how to get out himself.
Danny wasn't going to listen to Darry. He immediately prepared to go in and see.
Who would have thought Trish would grab him tightly from behind?
Danny: "?"
"What are you doing?"
Trish: "Don't go in. Let's listen to Darry and go back to call the police. If that big truck comes back, I'll be scared alone."
The Creeper coming back was good—Danny didn't have to go looking for it everywhere, so he had even more reason to go down.
"You find a place to hide first. I have to go down and check." Danny didn't linger on the soft sensation behind him, breaking free from Trish's grip and jumping straight in.
The dark pipe was not only filthy but also full of rats.
He walked dozens of steps along the pipe before reaching the bottom.
There was a hidden world at the bottom of the pipe.
It was like an underground storage facility.
Only, this facility was full of bodies. This Creeper was quite methodical, actually knowing how to preserve food.
Danny estimated there were at least several hundred, various sizes.
So greedy?
Upon reaching the innermost part, Danny found Darry, who was staring blankly. The kid was already scared senseless and couldn't recover for a long time.
Danny simply stayed with him for a while.
But his luck wasn't very good. The Creeper wasn't blocking the entrance, so he had to take Darry out with him to meet Trish.
After Trish saw the two return safely, she truly didn't know how to thank Danny.
Others didn't know Danny's purpose.
From Trish's perspective, Danny had no reason whatsoever to risk himself for Darry. They'd only just met.
The only possibility she could think of was that they'd had a connection on the way.
So, she naturally attributed the credit and reason for Danny going down to save her brother to herself.
This was a bit self-centered, but she certainly had the right to think so.
Soon after, the tow truck arrived.
The three followed to a diner to rest temporarily.
Darry's mental state was unstable. He wanted to call the police and tell the travelers in the diner that there was a killer nearby.
But who would believe him?
Just then, a call came into the diner.
Danny casually picked up the phone and answered. As long as it wasn't a "ghost call," he wasn't afraid.
After connecting,
on the other end was an old woman's voice.
The old woman said she knew about the three of them and told Danny the place was a creature's lair. Danny and Darry had both entered its lair, and the creature would come based on...
Danny listened to the phone, while Trish and Darry leaned close to him, hoping to hear the call clearly.
The general meaning was that the creature would track them by scent.
Darry truly believed it. He'd seen the hundreds of bodies in the pipe with his own eyes, so how could it be false?
He immediately called the police.
The travelers in the diner looked at the three in surprise.
These three, with their sudden frights, seemed somewhat unstable.
Trish leaned against Danny. She was already exhausted from today's events. Although she didn't quite believe in monsters, if both Danny and her brother said so, what reason did she have not to believe it?
Danny, however, relaxed. Since the old woman said so, he just had to wait for the Creeper to come to them.
He turned his head to look at Trish and naturally put his arm around her waist, slipping it under her shirt and gently caressing her smooth skin. He dared to be so bold because he'd noticed something.
Plus, the waiting time was somewhat tedious.
In this terrifying world, one should enjoy pleasure and relax when possible.
Trish's body stiffened, feeling the hand sliding around her waist, then slowly relaxed, leaning on Danny with unspoken understanding.
This guy's background, appearance, courage, and even sense of responsibility were all worth her trust.
The sky slowly darkened.
The diner was still brightly lit.
Giving a sense of security, the security of being around people.
Soon, the police Darry called arrived, and this sense of security became even stronger.
Only Danny knew this sense of security was very fragile and illusory. He remembered very clearly that a police station had been directly attacked by the Creeper.
The police providing security was not valid in the context of Jeepers Creepers.
Trish had already moved to the inside seat, and Danny sat on the outside, shielding her from others' gazes. At the same time, he was no longer satisfied with just her waist but slowly exploring higher...
