Chapter 18 - Goblin Nest [1]

BZZZ!

Julian blinked and found himself on top a hill.

His first instinct was to look up and he found a sky above that was bright and filled with floating blue and gray clouds.

A bright golden sun illuminated the world, rising from the East and shining through the clouds, spreading a golden sheen across the hill and the valley below that was filled with green trees and thick green grass.

Julian stepped out of the rift into a forest.

The tree trunks were thicker than his waist, with tall tree branches filled with green, yellow, and vibrant red leaves.

Julian's eyes gleamed as he noticed this. 'At least the geographical setting of this world is similar to Earth'.

The rift was just beside one of the tall green trees in the forest on top the hill, and that was where Julian emerged.

The moment he emerged out of the rift, it disappeared as the raw scent of nature assaulted him, reminding him again that he was no longer a mere human- he was now a Demon with Dragon bloodline.

All his senses were vastly enhanced compared to before.

His eyes were sharp like an Eagle, scanning every detail around him with insane clarity. His hearing and nose sensitivity was elite, flooding him with information from the distant sound of beasts to the direction of the wind, to even the subtle smell that was being carried by the wind.

Julian could even detect heat!

'I have thermoreception?'

It took Julian a moment to get used to all the sensations, but despite the fact that this was his first time sensing so much, the senses didn't feel alien and they didn't overwhelm him either.

Instead, they felt like a natural part of his body- his dual bloodlines.

Julian's predatory eyes gleamed as he crouched, leaning close to the ground and hiding in the thick grass.

His towering Demon height made hiding harder for him but he did anyway, trying his best to blend into nature.

He observed his surroundings, confirming that he was not in any immediate danger, then red qi pulsed around his body, focusing on his eyes.

Qi Sight!

Julian's eyes glowed blood-red as he started observing the qi residues left in this hill.

There were countless qi of different colors intertwining in his vision, Julian guessed that every color represented a living organism with qi, even plants.

He noticed yellow, white, golden, green, and blue qi residues.

He also noticed that some of them were thicker than others, and he soon noticed the thickest of them all, the thick green qi residue. Unlike the others, this specific qi residue seemed to own this entire hill.

Calmly, he traced the qi residue with his eyes and Julian realized that it led down the hill to the valley below.

Noting this, he didn't immediately rush downhill. First, he moved towards the edge of the hill and looked down.

Instantly, he noticed it- the Goblin Nest.

The goblin nest squatted at the foot of the valley beneath the hill like a festering wound in the earth.

There was a jagged opening on the ground that was reinforced with planks and scavenged shields; the mouth of the opening was just wide enough for a human almost half Julian's current size to slip through.

He realized the problem. 'I can't slip through without causing a commotion'.

Julian didn't just notice the entrance of the goblin nest though, with his vantage point on top the hill, he finally noticed the green goblins that were scattered across the valley outside the nest.

There were more than a dozen of them.

A few of them were female goblins tending to the surrounding plants among the endless weed in this forest- gardeners. They wore simple primitive brown leather hide to cover their posterior regions and their breasts.

While the other goblins were hunters and warriors.

The smallest and least physically imposing of the male goblins wore simple brown leather hides to cover their posterior regions, leaving their upper body shirtless and they wielded massive wooden clubs.

Of the more physically imposing ones among them, some wore more sophisticated leather attire while wielding daggers, others wielded bow and arrows, and two in metallic warrior armor with breastplates wielded dual cutlasses.

At the moment, the male goblins seemed to have just finished a hunt and they were in the process of dressing the Wild Boars that they killed.

Julian's eyes gleamed as he observed them.

He focused on one of the goblins with metallic armor and cutlass and then the Debauchery System lit up with a new notification.

DING!

~----~

'A Lvl. 18 Warrior?' Julian's eyes gleamed.

This Goblin was 8 levels stronger than him, but Julian felt no sense of dread at all when looking at him.

Instead, he felt like he could easily kill him.

'Is this the result of bloodline superiority?' He thought.

Another System notification lit up in that moment.

DING!

[Mission Progress Tracker: 0/44 Goblins killed]

~----~

'There are 44 Goblins in this nest?' Julian heaved a sigh of relief.

44 was a bit much considering that this was his first actual battle since transmigrating in this world, but he was confident.

The reason why he heaved a sigh of relief was that with the System tracking his progress, it would be easier to complete the mission.

He still didn't rush, taking his time to use the Snooping Tool on all 14 goblins that were in the surface of the valley outside the nest, confirming that the male goblins were spread between 3 Classes- Warrior, Assassins, and Archers.

Most of them were between Lvl. 10 and 12, but two of them were Lvl. 15 and the strongest of them all was the Lvl. 18 Goblin Warrior.

As for the 3 female Goblins, they were between Levels 6 to 8 but unlike the male Goblins they didn't have a Class.

They were Classless Awakened.

Once he was done with his surveillance, Julian's brain whirred as he watched them dressing their game and then he drafted a plan in his head.

Finally, he accessed his inventory and with a flash of red qi, a short blade with a brown wooden handle appeared in his right hand.

Julian carefully weighed the weapon in his hand, then he moved, trying to stealthily move down the hill.

His first target was the strongest Goblin.

His towering Demon height and physique meant it was almost impossible for him to stay invisible, but as he moved, Julian's red qi pulsed.

Slumber!

An imperceptible red mist slowly suffused the atmosphere.

Before the Goblins knew it, as the females attended to the plants and the male goblins dressed their game, they started feeling drowsy.

Some of them yawned tiredly.

This lowered their originally vigilant perception, preventing them from noticing the towering Demon sneaking towards them until it was too late.

The Lvl. 18 Goblin Warrior only noticed at the last moment.

He noticed a towering black shadow suddenly expand from behind him, he was alarmed!

By the time he turned around, a towering Demon with pale alabaster skin already appeared in front of him!

The Demon was twice as tall as him.

The moment Julian entered battle state, 2 black curved horns jutted out of the temple of his head, filling him with aggressiveness and bloodlust.

The Goblin Warrior couldn't react.

With one hand, the towering Demon grabbed the Goblin by the head then with his right hand, he stabbed a short blade into his neck!

BAM!

Julian didn't stop at the first attack.

BAM! BAM!

He pulled and stabbed two more times at the Goblin Warrior's neck as red blood spurted out like rain.

The armored Goblin Warrior couldn't even use his metallic armor since the Demon directly targeted his unarmored exposed neck.

His body violently convulsed a few times.

He died while still standing!
