This boost in reputation wouldn't be possible at all without his sudden whim to write a whole lot more letters and the unexpected acceptance outcome, not to mention those uninvited that had sent letters of wishing to attend.
Naturally, this also placed a huge burden on him. He had put in a 100% of his effort into making this event go as smoothly as possible.
Having all staff make the tower look spotless and the chefs to cook the finest delicacies he had to offer. Even going so far as to ask the wizards under him to waste a lot of their mana to enchant and enhance the flavors of the glasses and beverages he had.
It was a big argument that was only settled after he personally gave up some information and explained just who exactly is coming. Only then were they all too happy to waste their mana.
This is also the reason why all the wizards in the tower didn't choose to stay behind but present themselves in front of everyone.
And not just them, Everbright had all the people under his tower participate in this handyman recruitment. Whether they are aware of who is watching it is not his concern; he is sure the wizards under him will take the initiative to explain and keep order. Everbright is sure they will expend everything they got for this. Just to uphold their own reputation and status in the wizarding world, not only them, even Everbright himself paid a portion of his personal wealth from his treasury to make more exquisite furniture for the guests.
So long as he gains from this reputation, status, and possibly power... he is willing to throw everything in.
It was after a few more words talking to some guests he was familiar with did he turn around and notice something.
A speck of dust in the sky.
Although a speck of dust, that dust is the main attraction.
"Ah yes, I can see the boat from off in the distance now. At any moment the event will start, please do enjoy the wait by trying any of the provided delicacies and their complimentary condiments." Said Everbright as he adjusts his oversized robes into a more comfortable position while his comically small wizard hat slightly floats above his head.
The wait did not take long.
The boat slowed down its speed and descended onto a large elevated platform. Perfected in such a way to showcase anyone who stands there to everyone at the tower.
And then...
It happened.
Something happened, something that no one would ever expect.
