At the Everbright wizard tower.
A large crowd was standing at the entrance. Waiting for the newly arriving handyman and potential wizard and witch apprentices.
Several wizards stood at the forefront while behind them stood nearly a hundred apprentices neatly in line.
Behind them stood several hundred handyman who work at the tower. Waiting for the newly arrived handyman to arrive.
This is an important event for some of those standing here.
For the few wizards interested, they can use this time away from their main work to scout potential wizards of the future, ones they can squeeze value out of now before they leave their control. On the other hand, this is the first time to see the fresh meat on the chopping board for apprentices and potential competitors for handymen.
Each and every single person here who wish to come has a not so pure purpose, but they are the few. Many standing here now at attendance don't even wish to be here. But for the sake of reputation and morals of the one above, they must stand here acting amiable. Even if this largely has no effect on themselves.
All because of Wizard Everbright.
Although Everbright may not be here currently, but he is watching from the top of his tower. He was the one who wanted everyone to be at attendance. To those below this may seem like a waste of time and effort, but what they don't know is that this is a status. A status of power representing his own honor and reputation to other wizards.
Yes, today Everbright has guests.
A lot of guests in fact. More than the number of wizards he personally knows.
"I am humbled to have everyone at attendance today. Forgive me for not providing better accommodation but I simply could not expect so many people to come for what is at best a minor event at my tower." said a man entertaining a group of wizards.
That man being Mr. Everbright.
Truth be told, Everbright is under immense pressure.
A lot of the wizards and witches here are way out of his caliber in strength. Never did he expect a simple notice out of curtesy to draw so many here.
Yes, out of curtesy.
It is generally polite to send an invitation to surrounding wizards and witches that are part of other towers nearby or belong to a group organization. Usually, the invitations will fall on deaf ears, those invitations will just pile up inside the garbage bin.
But not this time.
