Chapter 17 - Ch 17: Too Many Complainers

"Let's hurry home."

"Man, I am so hungry. I want to eat something good…"

"Hey, the god is not here…where do you think it went? Did it decide to finally fuck off?"

People were finally starting to head home. Andrew heard them discuss various things as he made his way back.

His senses had become sharper and better due to the increase in his stats, but it was starting to get annoying for him.

'Tsk, I forgot that getting a new body means training in these things again. I will need to get used to it before the next game starts.'

It was an annoying necessity for his future survival, so he could not say he was disappointed with it all.

On his way back home, he decided to stop by the supermarket to pick up groceries. He had emptied out his supply for the week-long mission, and he needed more.

Moreover, he also wanted to pick up some household essentials and cleaning supplies.

'Should I get someone to clean that big house for me? I can tell it will be a pain to keep in shape…'

He complained as he walked into the store. But the first thing he heard was loud yelling coming from inside.

"What do you mean the vegetables have gone up in price? And so have the canned goods? Who decided that?"

"-b-but ma'am, we are having a shortage of workers. We cannot get a lot of material as easily as before, and…"

"Huh—! How is any of that my problem? The world has already gone nuts, and now I cannot buy my essentials either? Tsk, talk about bad luck…"

The female cursed, and Andrew almost flinched at the loud noise before he walked over to the stalls with vegetables and other essentials and packed as much as he could. Food would soon become a scarcity in this world because people would be too busy trying to survive.

'Before that, I should find a way to create farmland for myself and my future underlings. Having a steady supply of food would be nice…'

"Here, I would like to buy all this. I will pay with cash."

Andrew put the heap of materials he needed to buy on the table, and the cashier looked surprised by this.

"Y-You want to buy all this? I-I mean, I will bill you out now. Here, this is how much you need to pay."

The cashier looked ready to hear complaints or yelling, but Andrew did neither. He pulled out the money and put it on the table in front of him.

"Here, you can count it and give me back the change."

He told the cashier before he put the stuff he had bought into his inventory. The cashier took the money and counted it before giving him back his change.

This action triggered the elder lady standing beside him.

"See—! I knew it. It's all your generation's fault. The cashier looted you in broad daylight, and you decided to go with it and not even fight back? Tsk, these people think they can walk all over you because of people like you—"

The lady kept complaining, but Andrew decided to ignore her and walk away. After all, it was not the cashier's fault that food prices had gone up. Times were only going to get harder from here.

"Y-You—! Tsk, come back here, you brat. Let this aunty teach you—"

The female tried to grab Andrew to let her anger out. But Andrew grabbed her wrist before it could reach him, and the lady cried out in pain.

"Aunty? You look old enough to be my grandmother. Now, if only your temper was like my grandmother's as well—gentle and kind…"

The elder lady panted as she tried to pull her hand back, but it was of no use as Andrew put even more pressure before letting her arm go.

"Y-You…don't you know how to treat your elders? Where are your manners…your morals, you brat?"

The elder spat out, but Andrew only raised his eyebrow.

"If you want respect, then maybe you can start earning it with your actions. As for morals, I clearly don't have any. Would you like to try and find out how much I lack them?"

Andrew asked, and the elderly lady suddenly took a step back. Her instincts told her that she should not try this kid out.

"Tsk, you got lucky this time, young man. I do not have time to waste on you at the moment."

She told Andrew before she turned around and walked back to the counter.

Andrew looked back at her and decided to use his skill on her to check how much progress the lady had made.

[Player Name: Karen (lvl 8)]

Title: Professional Complainer

Skills: None

Profession: None

Strength: 7

Speed: 2

Intellect: 1

Luck: 3]

"Well, her title really suits her personality. But it would not grant her a profession that she can use…not that it is any of my business."

Andrew's first priority was to go around and find someone who could help him with the farm work and food supply… and fast.

Usually, people in support roles did not get to live long, and that was because they had fewer offensive skills. So he wanted a servant…no wait—! An underling who could help him out.

But since people had not started to gain professions yet, his only way to get a suitable person was by checking people's titles.

'Getting a healer would not be a bad idea either. A buffer will also be needed, and maybe some other support jobs…'

Unfortunately, guessing based on titles was not good enough, and his haul for the day turned out to be nothing.

The next game was to be held in two days, and there was not enough time for Andrew to keep looking around for people any longer.

So halfway through the second day, he decided to stop looking for roles he wanted to have as his slaves…ugh, underlings—and instead focus on his own training and getting used to his senses.

Thankfully, it was not his first time dealing with this, so he was able to apply the same training techniques and somehow get his senses under control before the timer for the next round ended up hitting zero.
