Chapter 21 - Ch 21: The System's Interference

[You have cleared the fourth game. Time taken: 1 day 12 hours]

[Reward: 500X System Gold, 1X Standard Weapon Box]

[Global ranking update: #1]

[You have become the first person to clear game 4. A special reward has been prepared. You can now choose one of the following rewards]

[1X Fairy Worker, 10,000X System Gold, 3X Skill Points]

"Fucking shit…not this again…"

Andrew cried as he looked at the system reward. He had fully mentally prepared himself to choose the system gold this time, but the fairy worker was a reward he needed at the moment.

As the name suggested, a fairy worker was a domestic, pet-like creature and a highly valued item that could help with household chores and farming later. The more helpers one had, the easier their life would become.

What made these things even more valuable was that they could not be bought in the shop. They were either game rewards or rewards for hidden quests.

So once again, with such a clear choice provided to him, he could not bring himself to choose the money, and he let out a loud yell. He was so loud that even Lilianna looked at him in discomfort.

"What happened…?"

Lilianna asked in an almost scared voice, but Andrew caught himself and only coughed before replying back.

"It's nothing. I am just realizing that maybe it is my fate to be poor in life…"

Andrew complained, causing Lilianna to roll her eyes.

"Poor? Do you even know what 'poor' is? Tsk, people like you are the worst. Being born with a silver spoon and still complaining."

Lilianna muttered as she looked at the nepo-baby who had saved her life. Mark Dawson might not be a household name like some other billionaires were, but he was certainly not a poor nobody.

"You don't understand, Lilly. Our money and assets mean nothing now. We are all poor…"

"Lilly…?"

Lilianna questioned her nickname, only to be ignored by Andrew as he suddenly tensed and looked up.

The sky of their game dome cracked open before the half-dragon appeared from the crack and looked around.

"Hmm, someone is already done? It seems the humans are not as doomed as I initially thought. Are you also the one who killed the previous round's boss?"

The half-dragon asked, and Andrew remained vigilant as he replied.

"That's right. I was the one who killed that god who became a boss. Why? Do you want to experience the same thing?"

Andrew's confident words caused the half-dragon to let out an amused laugh.

"You are funny, kid. I will give you that. But if you think I and that weak god are on the same power level, then you are mistaken. Still, I like your gut, so I will offer you a deal—leave humanity behind and join me on my side. I will allow you to leave this boring game and join a more…interesting one."

The half-dragon offered, and Lilianna immediately stiffened before she turned to look at Andrew. She was afraid that he would take the half-dragon's offer.

But Andrew was quick to turn that god down.

"I have no intention of joining you bastards who can't even feel emotions. Take your offer to someone who actually cares."

The reaction was instant. The half-dragon's anger immediately exploded, and the pressure on the sphere caused it to start cracking.

"Y-You arrogant…human. How dare you…"

The half-dragon raised his hand, and mana began to gather around it. Andrew immediately used all his power to form a shield, but even he knew it was a useless endeavor.

The second that blast hit his shield, it was over.

But he had not provoked the half-dragon without a chance for survival either.

"Tsk, why don't you just die."

The mana ball was thrown Andrew's way, but it lost most of its power before it reached him, and his shield tanked most of it.

It still hurt a lot to take that attack, but Andrew remained standing on his feet even after that, causing the half-dragon to seethe.

"Ugh, looks like the system decided to save you this time. But next time, it won't be that gracious. I will make sure to end your life…what the—why me? Ugh, listen, this is not over…"

The system beeped red midway through the half-dragon's speech before a rift opened and the half-dragon was absorbed into it.

Another half-dragon stepped out, and her voice sounded softer and more high-pitched. Her appearance also looked gentler compared to the previous half-dragon.

"Ehm, it seems like you have completed your game, so I will send you back now. I apologize for the delay in service and what…just happened."

The female half-dragon spoke before she clapped her hands, and the white began to fade. Before it could completely fade, Andrew looked at Lilianna.

"Come find me at my home. I will recognize you if you come—"

Before he could finish, he was sent back into the real world once more.

Unlike the rounds before, where it was total chaos when the game ended, this time it was complete silence. He was the only human in this world currently, and it felt lonely.

"It's not the time to get overwhelmed by my emotions. I should head back and check my new reward. My house is in need of thorough cleaning before my guest arrives."

Lilianna would likely seek him out on her own in order to get protection. Before that, he needed to fix a lot of stuff.

He also needed to think about what had happened at the game's end with the system.

Andrew already knew that the system protected the players and presented a 'fair' challenge to them by adjusting levels to what they could handle during the early stages. So he had not been worried about being attacked by the half-dragon.

Especially even more so because he had Lilianna with him, who was low-leveled enough to make the attack lose even more power.

But what he had not expected was for the system to change the half-dragon host midway through the game. It was something that had never happened before.

"Is this…an opportunity? Or was it a one-time thing? I guess I won't know until we are further into the system's game."
