Zaya raised her hand, with the wand in it, above the candle just like Sienna had done. She took a deep breath and then chanted, "Ignesco."
Zaya looked at the candle, but nothing had happened, "Don't worry", Sienna said, "Try again. Make sure to imagine a flame vividly and then make it appear in reality."
Zaya took another deep breath and then raised the wand above the candle. She imagined a flame that would come with a candle being lit.
As she thought and focused on the image in her mind, she chanted, "Ignesco." A flame appeared above the candle.
It was a pale yellow but soon became a darker orange flame. "I did it", Zaya said, excitedly. She lowered her wand and the flame continued to glow.
"Well done, Zaya", Sienna said, while patting Zaya on the head. She blew the candle out as not to waste it and then moved an empty bowl in front of Zaya.
"Now it's time to use the water element. It's a little harder than the fire element as all you need to imagine is a flame. Here you need to imagine the gushing water of a river or the water in a lake and then get that to manifest in the bowl and fill it", Sienna explained.
Zaya nodded, "Okay. I understand", she said. She raised her wand over the empty bowl and chanted, "Imple Aqua."
A water droplet appeared at the bottom of the bowl and it strated to grow bigger. It kept filling the bowl to the top.
"That's enough Zaya. We don't want to overflow the bowl now", Sienna said. Zaya lowered her wand and the bowl stopped filling itself.
"Well done Zaya. Remeber, magic is all about control. If you can't control the magic then you can hurt others or yourself. Always keep that in mind when practicing."
Zaya nodded. Sienna moved the bowl to the side and placed the piece of paper in front of Zaya. "Okay now it's time for air magic."
Zaya took a deep breath to steady herslef. She was using magic for the first time, so it was taking a strain on her mind and body.
"I'm ready", she said. She raised her hand above the piece of paper and chanted, "Levare." The piece of paper moved slightly but didn't rise up.
Zaya lowered her wand. "Don't worry Zaya. There is no need to rush. You can keep going until you are satisfied with the outcome", Sienna said.
Zaya clamed herself down and took another deep breath in and out. She steadied herself and then chanted, "Levare"
The piece of paper lifted off the table and started to float into the air. She lowered her wand, as soon as she saw it in the air.
She started huffing and puffing, to catch her breath. The constant usage of magic by someone who hadn't used any before today had caused her to be very worn out and tired.
Sienna got up and got Zaya a cup with water inside. "Here drink this", she said, as she handed the cup to Zaya.
Zaya took the cup and gulped down the water. "Thank you", she managed to say between breaths for air.
"Let's take a short break so you can regather yourself", Sienna said. "I'm honestly surprised you make it to the third element beforing becoming tired."
"Most new mages become tired immediately after the fire element and those that are talented are able to complete two elements at first. But three, I've never heard of someone doing three elements before becoming too tired to continue", she said.
"Even I struggled with completing the second element and I just barely got through it because I was so determined. You are really something special", Sienna said.
"Really?", Zaya said. "Does that mean I can become a great mage then?" Zaya looked at Sienna with the eyes of a child, full of hope and expectation.
"Maybe, but you will have to work very hard to get to a high level. You have the talent, you just need to put in the effort now."
Zaya, now even more determined after hearing those words, readied herslef to do the last elemental spell.
Sienna moved the jar of dirt in front of her. "Now for this spell, you must imagine the dirt seperating apart and trying to get wider than the confines of the jar."
Zaya nodded. She lifted her wand above the jar od dirt and chanted, "Terrae Motus." The jar started to shake and the jar shattered.
The dirt and glass went everywhere, but Zaya was still casting the spell. The ground underneath them started to shake.
"Zaya, stop!" Sienna shouted. Zaya lowered her wand and the shaking of the ground stopped. Sienna let out a deep sigh of relief.
"That was close", she said. Zaya looked at the table where the jar was supposed to be, only to see some dirt and the bottom of the glass jar remaining on the table.
"Oops", Zaya said, while looking at the mess she had made. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make such a mess", she said.
Sienna looked at Zaya, "Don't worry. It was an accident. It happens when we practice magic", she said.
"At least we now know what your strongest element is, earth. Your weakest element seems to be air and the other two are at a similar level", Sienna said.
"I'll teach you some spells relating to all the elements, but we'll focus on the earth element. My strongest is air, so I help you there, but I'll have to get some new materials on earth elemental magic for you."
"Yay", Zaya said. "I can finally start learning magic." Sienna smiled at Zaya's happiness but also worried about her strength.
The strength of her earth element spell was so strong that it affected the ground beneath them. She hoped that nothing else had been affected by shaking from the spell.
-----
In a faraway place, the reincarnation warden was busy monitoring people that he could potentially reincarnate into new worlds.
As he was busy observing the universe, the book containing Zaya's world started to shake.
He raised his hand and the book flew across the room and landed in his hand. He opened the book to the present and saw Sienna teaching Zaya magic.
He flipped forward to the future of the world and saw the words of fate change before his eyes.
Something was affecting fate and it was in a negative way. He found the cause to be from Zaya's earth magic spell.
He observed the spell but couldn't see how it could have affected fate. He watched as the spell shook the ground and then understood.
The spell wasn't the cause but was related indirectly to it. When Zaya had caused the earth to shake, she had freed the shackles on a demon sealed in the centre of the world, by the world's protector.
Since the seal was released, the demon would be free again and be able to cause unforeseen damage to the world.
The world's protector couldn't interfere with the demon anymore as they had sealed it before they became a protector and now that they were a greater being they weren't allowed to interfere, because of the laws of the universe.
The reincarnation slammed the book shut, "I guess I'll have to go then", he said. A portal to Zaya's world opened up and the reincarnation warden walked through.
