Chapter 17 - Black Guard

"My Bloodsworn," said Nyxara once the Blood Knight arrived in front of her.

The Blood Knight kneeled in one knee and bowed deeply, "Greetings, Mistress."

"Mhm." Nyxara nodded. "I have a new knight, who will replace the Blood Knight that was assigned to me. He wanted to train with you all. Can I leave that to you?"

Her voice was not high, but every Blood Knights present in the arena floor clearly heard what she said and they abruptly halted their movements.

Myles, on the other hand, was indifferent, knowing that Nyxara was clearly provoking the Blood Knight to him.

The Blood Knight, who was silent for a while, said, "I'm unable to change your mind, Mistress. As for your order, rest assured and leave it to us."

Nyxara smiled brightly and said, "Mhm! Thank you, my Blood Sworn. Don't hold back in teaching him a lesson. I will watch on the side to keep in track of his training."

The Blood Knight arose and he was taller than Nyxara. Myles had become taller than Nyxara to begin with, so Myles and the Blood Knight were at the same height.

The Blood Knight placed his right palm on his left chest and bowed slightly. "Leave it to us, Mistress."

Nyxara nodded and turned around, giving Myles a mischievous smile.

Myles simply glanced at her and then focused at the Blood Knight who walked towards him. They faced each other and Myles did not back down, despite staring closer at his eyes.

The Blood Knight's eyes were erratic. There were five black dots on his crimson eyes.

The Blood Knight said, "I won't disappoint, Mistress. I hope you won't disappoint her, too."

Myles did not bother giving a reply and simply kept staring at him. His eyes were fierce, refusing to back down.

The Blood Knight looked away and searched for the area where they could train.

The nearest training dummy was already unoccupied and the previous Blood Knights who used them were already standing a bit far from the training dummy.

Furthermore, the other Blood Knights also stopped what they were doing and slowly encircled the area where the Blood Knight and Myles would clash.

The Blood Knight pointed at the training dummy and said, "I'm pretty sure I don't have to tell you what to do. Let's go there."

The Blood Knight did not wait for Myles' response as he turned around and walked towards the training dummy.

The Blood Knight stood a bit far from the training dummy and turned around, saying to Myles, "You will defend this training dummy from my assault."

Myles passed through him and scrutinized the training dummy for a bit.

The training dummy was made out of wood and probably out of hard materials as it turned into scratched from all the sharp weapons assaulted by the Blood Knights' training.

There was even a smile drawing at the head of the dummy knight.

After Myles scrutinized the training dummy, he turned around and took the stance of the Shield Step core technique.

The Shield Step core technique was one of the five core techniques of Aegis Hand-to-Hand Combat established by an elite bodyguards group built by the five foundations of real fight: boxing, wrestling, BJJ, krav maga, and systema.

The very core idea of it was to shield the client and end the threat immediately.

It has five ranks and Myles was only able to achieve third rank, which was called the Black Guard.

And in the Black Guard rank, the Shield Step has transformed into the Coffin Step.

Myles currently stood in a diagonal position, where his left shoulder was facing the Blood Knight and his right shoulder was facing the training dummy.

His left arm extended slightly forward with his hand formed into a knife pointed at the Blood Knight, while his right hand formed into a claw facing at the training dummy's neck, ready to block any attacks targeting its vitals.

The Blood Knights felt Myles' position was silly. After all, it was difficult to fight in a diagonal position.

The Blood Knight in front of him simply gave him a strange stare and asked, "You won't use any weapon?"

Myles said in a stern voice, "Anything can happen in a second. You won't be able to draw your sword when a fast moving object targets the person you're supposed to protect. You should have considered that."

The Blood Knight was taken aback. Their profession seemed to have been questioned by Myles' words.

He did not bother initiating a conversation with Myles anymore and conjured a massive hammer out of his blood and swung it at Myles downward.

However, before the massive hammer was fully conjured as he took a step forward to swing it, Myles already made a move and closed their distance with a single step and punched the Blood Knight's breastbone with his right hand.

His left hand swung to the opposite direction, now facing the training dummy, ready to intercept any projectiles just in case.

When his right fist collided with the Blood Knight's sternum, the armor was unable to withstand his fist, shocking the Blood Knights, especially the Blood Knight who received it.

He broke through my armor? How?!

They have not considered that Myles was an expert in boxing and his punch was way more powerful than normal..

Not only the Blood Knight's armor cave in, even his breastbone broke as the immense pain coursed through his body.

They could easily regenerate their armor with their blood, but once their bones and muscles were broken, they would require proper recovery.

The massive hammer that was about to fully manifest instantly shattered as the Blood Knight was writhing in pain.

Before it was able to adapt with the agony, Myles was aware that the enemy was neutralized and no more danger posed to his training dummy, so he stepped forward to perform the Black Hammer.

He drove forward and swung his elbow deeper and upward to the Blood Knight's jaw, instantly breaking the armor and the jaw entirely…
