Her gaze darkened as she thought of the horrible past month but when she thought about what happened these past four days, her gloominess vanished as a sly smile blossomed on her face.
"Mom, I will beg for your forgiveness when you wake up. I have already received a promise from someone. You will transfer to a better hospital in a few days where the chances of you waking up are higher. So, I hope that you will fight with everything that you have to wake up for me.
Because Mom if you don't wake up, this child is going to wreak havoc and make you regret ever leaving me. So, fight for me. Wake up for me and see the world that I am going to create for you," she hysterically said, whispering against her mother's ear as if the other party could hear her.
They always say that some people in coma can hear the outside world. It's just that they can't communicate. If that was the case, she hoped that her mother would hear her threat and better not think about giving up.
She wasn't joking.
"I am going to rise up like a phoenix. Anything that will come my way, I am going to burn it into ashes. The world was never merciful to me, so I won't show any mercy. What I want, I am going to take it even if it means using despicable means.
If only I had such thoughts back then, perhaps Baba will be alive right now and you will be fit and healthy. I can't change the past, but I believe that the future is going to be bright. When you wake up, I will beg for your forgiveness but for now, put me in your prayers Mom. Your daughter is already on a path of no return," she mumbled, her eyes red as she thought about what she has done.
If her parents knew the measures she had taken to be here today, they would surely use a ruler and spank her.
They have never hit her in their lives but she was certain that they would surely do so if they knew. But that was no longer possible.
Her father was dead and gone, and her mother comatose. If she wanted to discipline her, then she better hurry up and wake up before she worsened.
Amabel spent a while talking to her mother which was more of threatening her into waking up while speaking truthfully.
After doing so for an hour, she felt much better. It was as if she had confessed some of her sins to a priest and her burden has lessened.
"Mom, I am going now. I will come and see you tomorrow. I don't have to work now. Your son-in-law is very capable. He will take care of any financial problems for me," she didn't forget to boast a bit about Valentine.
Even though she was just his lover, in her eyes, he was her mother's son-in-law and she was going to give him a big fat baby boy to inherit all those riches he has.
She assured her mother for a moment and seeing no reaction, she sighed but her complexion was much better compared to several minutes ago. She picked her handbag and with one last glance at her sleeping mother, stepped out of the room not noticing the forefinger of the hand she was holding a moment ago flinching.
After Amabel left the room, she went to look for her mother's attending doctor and listened to him for ten minutes. The news remained the same. There wasn't any improvement and this time, Amabel was so determined to transfer her mother.
She couldn't let her mother waste away while her money was being drained repeatedly.
Nonetheless, before she left the hospital, she paid any outstanding bills and felt much more at peace as she drove away, her destination, the penthouse.
It was getting late, and there wasn't much that she could do outside.
Moreover, her current best friend, happened to be in a similar situation as her and couldn't be reached for the moment.
She could only wait patiently, until the other party reaches out.
She was curious to know how she was faring.
----****----
Amabel didn't have much to do after returning to the penthouse. Her lover wasn't returning, so she spent her time synching her contacts and politely resigning from the part time jobs she was working. Since she now had a sponsor, it was only right that she focuses on pleasing him before she even thinks about other things.
The first thing on the list since she wasn't yet certain when her mother would be transferred was to add more clothes to her wardrobe. Which girl didn't like to look nice?
Since she was given a black card, she might as well use it to the fullest and not disappoint her sponsor.
Being used to be so poor that the most expensive clothes she wore was slightly over C$1,000, Amabel wanted to splurge. And splurging to her, meant visiting that famous shopping mall in Harmony City that had just opened for a year and yet its popularity was insane.
Fortune Plaza was the hottest shopping mall in the city currently. Every shop operating there was high end and sold expensive products. It wasn't a place where you would find these mediocre brands. It was depicted as a place for the rich. Going there, warranted respect. She still remembered how she was mocked by that Susan girl, the one who shamed her at the hospital.
She remembered how this former best friend of hers used to flaunt her wealth after visiting that mall. At that time, Amabel would mock Susan for relying too much on men but now …. Forget it. Anyway, since she had boarded the pirate ship, she might as well enjoy.
Without latching onto Valentine, she would be doomed.
Anyway, she planned to shop at the Fortune Plaza and treat herself to a good time.
After making such plans, she browsed through her phone checking any messages from acquaintances. Surely, there was something in the university group. Although she had dropped out of school for over half a year, she still was in touch with the classmates. Though not through the group, since she exited but some few classmates she talked to.
Not all apples are rotten, after all.
