Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Slapping Susan’s Face

Beatrix chuckled lightly seeing Amabel's expression but she liked it. She felt that Amabel was going to be the greatest friend ever.

Something about her was quite intriguing and kept pulling her in.

Amabel facing such a character was at a loss for words but looking at the pretty face with big eyes, she found herself getting drawn in.

For someone like her who hadn't made a new friend in ages, it felt surreal finding herself in such a situation. She didn't know why Beatrix was doing this but for whatever reason, Amabel didn't find herself disliking her but actually grateful.

Especially upon seeing the dark clouds forming on Susan's face.

Whilst the two of them might be fake rich ladies, Beatrix was different. And to make things interesting, it was Beatrix who came to her first and not the other way around. What better way to slap Susan's face without making a move?

Just seeing Susan's ugly face, Amabel didn't care about Beatrix's motives and readily stretched her hand, "I am Amabel. Let's get along well!"

And Susan exploded.

"You guys ..." but both ladies paid her no mind, moreover, Jane blocked Susan from moving further.

Susan being the kind who bullied the weak but feared the strong, cowered but continued to glared hatefully at Amabel.

Amabel seeing that smirked at Susan and said, "How about we go and pay? I have other places to be!" and started walking towards the till without waiting.

When Susan heard that, she rushed ahead and stood a short distance away from Amabel and Beatrix.

"How much is the bill?" Amabel didn't do the mental math since she had angrily picked a lot of things without looking at the prices earlier.

The cashier politely stated a figure, "the total bill has amounted to C$125,490," and it made the ladies at the scene suck cold breath.

That was just for lingerie. What if she had picked clothes and other things?

Susan dug her nails in her palms, drawing blood upon hearing the price. When she thought about the C$30,000 she had been given by that man and even thought about flaunting it. Yet Amabel was spending over one hundred thousand on lingerie alone.

Whether the money was hers or not, the fact that she could swipe such money made her burn with intense jealousy. How she wished she could scratch that face and humiliate Amabel at this very moment.

Amabel wasn't fazed by the price. In Burberry shop, she had generously swiped several millions. So why should she feel fazed by this small amount?

"Sure, wait a moment!" she said as she fished her hands in her handbag and all eyes were on her.

Even Beatrix was looking forward to this moment. She was quite curious how rich her new friend was. Would she be taking a silver, gold or black card? But could she afford a black card?

She couldn't help but wonder.

'Let it not be hers! It can't be hers!'

Susan still hoped for a reversal but she was destined to be disappointed as a few seconds later, a card she had seen once some time ago while escorting a certain Young Master at a club appeared in her view.

When the crowd saw the card, they gasped with awe and surprise. Even the cashier's eyes brightened. A black card holder was like their ancestor. How could she not be happy?

Amabel graciously passed the card over to the cashier, "use this!" and the cashier humbly took the card and under everyone's watch, the payment was made successfully.

"Here is your card!" the cashier said as she returned the card to Amabel but someone else was faster than her.

Susan grabbed the card from the cashier and agitatedly looked at the card, looking for the name and when she saw the name, she had known for years written there boldly, her hands shook as the card fell to the floor making everyone aware of the truth.

"Impossible! It can't be!"

They say that seeing is believing and yet Susan was still a non-believer.

Beatrix clicked her tongue as she looked at Jane who crouched down to pick the card. As she held the card in a unique angle, a few people closest to her happened to see Amabel's name on the card which further conformed that Amabel must have struck it rich. And that also meant that she had won.

Thinking about the earlier bet, the crowd was excited and the person who had lost was looking at Amabel with reddened eyes as she threw a string of accusations.

"This can't be true! It's not yours. How can this be?"

Amabel seeing Susan in such a delirious state felt her grievances avenged. When she thought about the humiliation, she suffered because of Susan, it took her great will to hold herself together.

Susan was a best friend she shared so much with and yet when she was in trouble, the other party didn't hesitate to betray her and switch sides. If it wasn't for Marjorie, who knows how she would have made it in these months?

However, seeing Susan now, she felt much better and lighter.

"Susan, a person should learn to accept defeat. I am not evil like you, and always thinking about bringing other people down," Amabel generously said, her tone very calm and laced with kindness, it made Susan clench her fist angrily and felt the metallic taste on her tongue and knew she had bit her tongue.

"For the sake of our past friendship, I won't follow with the bet. Let us consider this as us cutting ties. Whenever we meet in the future, just pretend like we have never known each other."

Why should she let Susan apologize and make people feel sorry for her?

She wanted Susan to be taunted by this memory for the rest of her life. Besides, knowing Susan how could she be willing to eat a loss?

The moment she heard that, she glared at Amabel and said, "Umph. Don't think that you have won! I will expose you sooner or later!" before running away with her head lowered.

Beatrix nudged Amabel upon seeing Susan leaving like that and asked, "is she going to come at you again?"

Amabel chuckled helplessly and without caring for the melon eaters answered, "she is a vengeful spirit. Ignore her."

She was looking forward to second round and she know for sure that Susan would be armed but she would be ready as well.
