Chapter 4 - I’M NOT YOUR WIFE, SIR!

"Why did you ask that?" Amelia was confused about how to answer.

Without saying much, Bima started the car. He began to drive. The guards on duty watched Bima's car leave.

Bima deliberately chose a shopping center in the city center. There, he planned to ask Amelia to choose his clothes.

For some reason, Amelia suddenly felt confused. This task should have been done by a wife. Why did it have to be her?

When they arrived at the mall, Bima invited her to eat first. After that, he took her shopping. Somehow, a suit was displayed in front of a clothing store. The suit looked very elegant.

"It seems you would look very good wearing this suit," Amelia said while deliberately touching it.

"Is that so?" Bima smiled.

"Yes," Amelia answered. "Besides, your body is not too big."

"Not too big? That means I'm sexy," Bima replied.

"Sorry, sir, I didn't say you are sexy. You really suit this outfit," Amelia said casually.

"Whatever you say," Bima replied.

By accident, Bima saw a harmonious married couple. He stared at them for a long time. Somehow, his chest felt tight. He remembered his marriage to Martha, a marriage that never went smoothly.

There were always problems in their household. Every time there was an issue, Martha never tried to solve it. She chose to walk away instead. Almost every day, Martha never slept at home.

"Sir, what's wrong?" Amelia asked while holding a set of men's work clothes.

Bima was startled and came back to his senses. He realized that everything he had fought for felt meaningless. He looked at Amelia and smiled.

"It's nothing. Have you chosen your clothes?" Bima asked in a low voice.

"I have chosen ten sets. Where do you want to go next?" Amelia carried the clothes.

"Pay for them," Bima told Amelia to pay.

Only then did Bima truly realize who Amelia was. She was his subordinate at the company.

He had thought Amelia was just an ordinary woman. It turned out she was extraordinary. Bima could read Amelia's character from the way she chose clothes.

After paying, Amelia walked back to Bima. Bima invited her to leave. Amelia was confused by Bima's behavior.

"Aren't you taking them?" Amelia looked at Bima sideways.

"I've already sent the location. Some people will come to pick them up," Bima replied while checking the time.

They went to a men's underwear store. Bima told Amelia to go inside. Confused? No. Amelia wasn't confused—she panicked. Yes, she was extremely panicked.

"My underwear is still good, sir. I just bought it yesterday," Amelia said honestly.

"Choose for me," Bima said softly.

"I'm not your wife!" Amelia said frankly.

"I don't care at all!" Bima pressed in a low voice.

Amelia moved closer and whispered, "What's your size, sir?"

"European size L," Bima answered without shame.

Amelia entered the men's underwear store. She didn't know whether to cry or laugh. Honestly, this task was beyond logic. How could she be choosing a man's underwear? Protesting felt useless.

Amelia chose several pieces of underwear for Bima. She deliberately selected materials that were cool and comfortable to wear. Bima simply followed her and watched how she chose.

Indeed, Amelia chose high-quality materials. Bima paused, amazed. He let Amelia continue.

"How can you choose premium underwear for me, while you are a single woman?" Bima questioned Amelia's life.

"I may be single, but I will choose the best quality clothes for you," Amelia answered sarcastically.

"That's good. If a man marries you, it won't be because of your beautiful body, but because of your intelligence. That man would be very lucky to gain comfort," Bima explained.

"Sorry, sir, but not every man can enter my life," Amelia replied while putting the underwear into the basket.

Bima nodded in understanding. He smiled and felt very proud of Amelia. Even with her simple style, Amelia was selective about choosing a life partner.

Amelia paid immediately. She knew Bima's words were advice. He was right—she would not choose just any man. She would choose someone to be her partner and protector.

"Everything is done. I'll excuse myself and go home," Amelia said politely.

"Accompany me for one hour to walk around here," Bima requested.

"Sir, remember. You are a big boss. The name Bima Santoso is very famous. Many journalists would chase you for news. I don't want to create trouble," Amelia explained.

"Twenty million will enter your account tonight!" Bima immediately took out his phone.

"Alright. Don't send it to the usual account. I deliberately emptied it," Amelia requested.

Bima then transferred the money to Amelia's other account. After that, he walked around with her. That night, Bima changed his status into an ordinary person.

He followed Amelia's strange behavior. It could be said that Bima followed Amelia's unpredictable flow.

However, Bima was still guarded by shadow bodyguards. They were his loyal protectors. They chose to stay passive and not move much.

Unexpectedly, Amelia saw Santi. Her eyes widened—not out of fear. But this time, Santi dared to wear sexy clothes. She was also walking with an old man. Or more properly, a grandfather.

"Unbelievable," Amelia muttered and remembered Nilam's words earlier.

Nilam had said something unpleasant. Amelia knew the conversation was heading toward prostitution. Honestly, Amelia had never done such things. She was an innocent girl who knew nothing about that world.

It was very painful for Amelia. She was often accused of unpleasant things. Somehow, she sensed something dark about that house.

"Isn't that the woman who asked you for money earlier?" Bima held Amelia's shoulder.

"How do you know?" Amelia smiled bitterly.

"When she asked for money, I paid attention to her face," Bima explained.

"Yes, that's true," Amelia replied, even though she was tired of talking about her family.

Suddenly, Santi approached them. She deliberately stared at Amelia with sarcasm and clear hatred.

"Oh, you're here!" Santi laughed mockingly.

"Is it forbidden for me to be here?" Amelia replied calmly.

"Who said that?" Santi sneered. "Oh yes, let me introduce you."

Bima observed the old man carefully. He immediately sensed a big scandal. Inside, he laughed and began forming a new strategy.

"What do you mean?" Amelia asked elegantly.

"This is Mr. Burhan, my lover. You're a forever single woman. No boyfriend, no pleasure in bed," Santi said mockingly.

Inside his heart, Bima cursed Santi. He knew Amelia's feelings were hurt by the humiliation. Amelia was not that kind of woman. She was an honorable girl.

"Even if I'm single, I don't burden anyone," Amelia replied calmly.

What Amelia said was true. Even as a single woman, she didn't trouble anyone. She could sleep peacefully without disturbance. Quietly, Bima admired her. Her answer was graceful and dignified.

"How is being single not a burden? You should know your place! You're dull and ugly!" Santi shouted mockingly.
