Chapter 25: Uvogin: The Damn Thief
While Ronin headed to the arena, a thirteen-year-old blonde boy arrived outside Heaven's Arena.
He wore the traditional Kurta tabard that Ronin once wore. In his hand, he clutched a crumpled poster with Ronin's photo.
In the poster, Ronin smiled brilliantly. Outside the poster, Kurapika looked like a walking corpse who had lost all hope.
Even seeing the giant billboards, Kurapika struggled to connect this sunny superstar with the "Big Brother Ronin" he knew.
He hoped this person was his brother, but he also doubted that the Ronin who knew about the massacre could smile like that.
But the news reports and his own investigation of the village confirmed one thing: out of 129 clan members, only 127 bodies were found.
The missing two were him and Ronin.
Kurapika's eyes hardened. He had to find out the truth.
As Kurapika entered the arena to register, another group arrived on the 227th floor.
"I thought him making the throat-slitting gesture was arrogant enough. I didn't expect him to not even bother hiding his identity! Is he blind, fearless, or just incurably stupid?"
The speaker was Uvogin. After finishing the Troupe's business, he had asked Shalnark to track Ronin down.
Shalnark didn't even have to hack anything. A simple web search brought up the overwhelming publicity: "Heaven's Arena Supernova," "Red-Splendored Meteor," "Violent Ronin."
The titles were blinding.
Shalnark easily downloaded the video of Ronin vs. Galleg.
Watching the footage, Uvogin laughed in anger. He saw Ronin's finishing move. It was his Big Bang Impact!
The focus of Nen, the rapid gathering—it was a carbon copy.
This guy not only stepped into the spotlight but blatantly plagiarized his signature move!
If Uvogin swallowed this insult, he might as well go back to Meteor City and rot in the trash heap.
So he came.
With him were Shalnark, who wanted to see the show, and Nobunaga, who wanted to turn Ronin into mincemeat.
"I think he's doing it on purpose," Shalnark offered a different view.
"What? You think he has the strength to fight me?" Uvogin glared at him.
On the stage, two figures walked out: Ronin and his opponent, Sidney (Record: 3 Wins, 1 Loss).
Sidney was an Emitter. Immediately, he distanced himself from Ronin, raising his right hand in a "finger gun" gesture aimed at Ronin.
Bang!
Sidney mimicked a gunshot sound.
Ronin, using Gyo, saw the aura gather at Sidney's fingertip and fire off like a bullet.
"Fighting at a distance in a confined space is my advantage! Give up, you won't get close to me!" Sidney shouted as Ronin dodged the first shot.
His tone was patronizing.
Ronin admitted Sidney was right. The ring favored Emitters.
But surrendering? That was arrogant.
Even without the Sharingan, Ronin could see the bullets clearly.
But he didn't plan to win by dodging.
After fusing the second pair of eyes, his physical stats and aura had increased.
Ten days of training had allowed him to master the essence of the Big Bang Impact.
Even without the Sharingan, he could use it.
So, what happens when a powerful body meets high-level technique?
Ronin used Ryu, maintaining Ken while shifting massive amounts of aura to his hands.
When the next bullet came, Ronin didn't dodge. He accelerated, intercepting the bullet mid-air!
Clap!
Using just three fingers, Ronin caught the Nen bullet with terrifying force.
Under Sidney's shocked gaze, Ronin applied the crushing torque of the Big Bang Impact, shattering the bullet in his fingers.
"Who needs to surrender now?" Ronin advanced.
Sidney felt a massive pressure crushing him. His finger-gun hand trembled.
He had watched the Galleg fight. He knew Ronin had destructive power, but he didn't think he would lose.
He was wrong.
This guy hid his strength against Galleg!
Sidney fired rapidly. Bang! Bang! Bang!
Ronin caught and crushed every single bullet as he walked forward.
When Ronin was three meters away, Sidney broke. He dropped the gun stance.
Instead, he stepped forward and launched a desperate uppercut.
The finger gun gave him range and accuracy, but his fist held the true power of his Emission! His fist was like a cannon. If the recoil didn't hurt him too, he wouldn't need to kite.
If I can force him to take this...
Sidney's thought was cut short as his fist hit a larger, stronger hand.
His cannon-fist was slapped down like a toy, the blast fizzling out before it could even explode.
"Impossible!"
Looking up, Sidney saw two red glints in Ronin's eyes.
The next second, agonizing pain exploded in his gut. He was launched like a football.
Sidney flew out of the ring, crashing through the barrier wall into the front row. Spectators screamed.
But Sidney couldn't hear them. Blood leaking from his mouth, he slumped amidst the rubble, eyes rolled back, unconscious.
The panic in the crowd lasted only a second before being drowned out by the commentator's scream and the referee's declaration.
The arena erupted. Everyone was chanting Ronin's name!
