Chapter 28: Quantified Aura

As for how the Rental Demon determines if the target can repay the loan, Ronin guessed correctly.

It balances the interest against the target's own aura reserves. When the debt reaches a critical point equal to the user's remaining aura, the Demon forcibly extracts the aura for repayment.

Milia's profit lay entirely in the interest collected.

When she developed this ability, she made a Vow and Limitation: from the moment she could lend aura, her own training would no longer increase her aura capacity.

However, the interest she earned could permanently increase her aura capacity, stacking indefinitely.

The condition was that the borrower must fully understand the rules and voluntarily sign the contract.

Also, to collect interest from the Rental Demon, she had to convert money into "points" to buy it back.

In other words, from the moment she created this ability, every penny she earned was converted into points to increase her strength.

That was why she earned so much yet cared so deeply about money.

Under heavy restrictions, the powerful Vow gave her unlimited potential.

Ronin wasn't the first Nen user she had approached. She had made several people famous before him.

Now, with Ronin, Milia was certain he wouldn't refuse. The potential gains far outweighed the risks.

Milia quietly put her hand down, feeling Ronin's gaze drifting toward it occasionally. "Digital calculation is my personal judgment method; it's not perfectly accurate.

"Normally, there are two states of aura in a user. One is MOP (Maximum Output Power) or Ken output—the amount of aura you can release and sustain at one moment. This limit increases with training. Under special circumstances, one can exceed this limit.

"As an Enhancer, you understand this best. The final punch you used against Galleg exceeded your normal maximum output."

Ronin understood perfectly.

It was the combination of Big Bang Impact and Cherry Blossom Impact.

The power he exploded with in that instant far surpassed his normal limits.

"The other is POP (Potential Output Power)—the total amount of aura stored in your body. This limit also increases with training," Milia explained patiently. "By observing your MOP (Maximum Output Power), I can roughly estimate your POP."

Ronin looked like a humble student.

"Your maximum output using Ren is roughly 700. Multiplying that by ten gives your total capacity. So, a rough estimate is your total aura (POP) is between 7,000 and 8,000." Milia's glasses glinted with wisdom. "Of course, for a precise number, you'd need to fight me, or let me see how long you can maintain Ken."

Less than ten thousand?

Ronin was a bit surprised.

The number wasn't low. For someone who had awakened Nen just over a month ago, it was high.

When Gon cleared Greed Island and fought the Chimera Ants under Biscuit's tutelage, his POP was around 21,500.

That was after extensive training.

Ronin's level was purely force-fed by the two pairs of Scarlet Eyes.

Following this logic, Milia's POP should be around 15,000, maybe more. She likely wouldn't lend all her aura without keeping some for defense.

This calculation aligned with Ronin's deduction about the Rental Demon's forced collection.

Renting double his aura (14,000-16,000) for 10 minutes would accrue interest of roughly 7,500—exactly his current total capacity.

If he borrowed double the aura from her, Ronin would have a total of roughly 22,500 aura. With that amount, fighting Uvogin was feasible.

Before fusing the second pair of eyes, his MOP was probably around 400. Even with the Cherry Blossom Impact boost, he would have matched his current base state, only capable of dealing minor injuries to Uvogin.

Now, his normal punch equaled that boosted state. Fusing Big Bang Impact and Cherry Blossom Impact with the borrowed aura would result in exponential destruction.

It was worth a shot.

"You haven't been awakened for long, right?" seeing Ronin's silence, Milia thought he was disappointed with the number and encouraged him. "Having such a massive aura capacity in such a short time makes you a genius among geniuses.

"At least among all the outstanding talents I've seen, your potential and talent are the strongest."

"Thanks for the compliment." Ronin pushed the contract back to Milia temporarily. "I will rent aura from you. But not now. I'll wait until I confirm the Phantom Troupe member is entering the ring with me."

Milia's contract had a rental window, the longest being three days.

This meant that within three days of renting, he could summon the Rental Demon to use the aura at any time.

If he didn't use it within three days, the Demon would leave, taking only a 5% interest fee.

However, if he did that, Milia would be left defenseless without her aura for days. Ronin didn't sign immediately to avoid putting her in danger prematurely.

"Okay." The moment Milia touched the contract, both the paper and the floating demon vanished.

Uvogin's challenge letter clearly indicated he wanted to kill Ronin in the ring.

If Uvogin hadn't been to Heaven's Arena before, it would take him at least a few days to reach the 200th floor.

This was Ronin's final preparation window.

He also had to be careful of Shalnark attacking from the shadows. Manipulation abilities were troublesome.

Especially since Ronin couldn't keep his Sharingan active 24/7 to check everyone around him for antennas.

"By the way, you'd better give me the Phantom Troupe member's data in advance. That way, I can prepare and maximize the match's revenue," Milia said.

"You'd better be careful too. If you publicize too early and expose their identities, I'm afraid they'll come after you," Ronin warned.

"True. Dealing with rule-breaking scum requires caution," Milia didn't act brave.

The Phantom Troupe were A-Class criminals. Given Ronin's caution, their strength must be formidable.

Milia was confident, but not arrogant.
