Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 - Villain Attack

"Congratulations, Momo-chan!"

At lunch break, Mina glomped on Momo as soon as she set her food down on the table.

Although the pink-skinned girl was disappointed she herself didn't win the election, she was still very happy for her friend.

"Thank you Ashido, everyone. I'll do my best to shoulder the trust our class has placed on me."

"Go for it! You'll have our full support, president Yaoyorozu!"

Mina exaggeratedly saluted, then giggled. The others chuckled at her antics as they began to eat.

"By the way, are any of you familiar with Midoriya-kun? I haven't talked much with him, but he seemed sort of…timidish- not exactly class leader material. I wonder who voted for him?"

"Going by the tally on everyone, it's most likely Ochaco. They seem to have known each other even before school started."

Hiro replied to Mina as he took a bite of sushi. Momo nodded in agreement to his speculation, then adding:

"When we fought Midoriya-san during Battle Training, I noticed that he and Bakugo-san seemed to have some sort of one-sided hostility."

"Oh yeah! And there was that one time too, during the Quirk Assessment Test. I wonder what's up with the two of them?"

"Ochaco-chan voting for Midoriya, and Bakugo's unexplained anger…could it be? Is there a love triangle between the three!?"

Mina exclaimed, making Hiro almost choke in laughter.

And the best part was, she wasn't entirely incorrect. Midoriya and Bakugo do have some weird obsession with each other, while Ochaco was the implied partner of Midoriya in the anime.

As they were fooling around, alarms suddenly blared from the cafeteria speakers.

"Security level 3 has been broken. All students, please evacuate in an orderly fashion."

Every student in the cafeteria paused. Their expressions rapidly changed, to confusion, unease, and nervousness.

"What's alert level 3?"

Mina asked, her brows furrowing as the students around them began rushing towards the exit.

"It means that an intruder has entered the building. Let's go. We need to gather everyone in class."

"Wait! Let's stay here for now. The exit's already packed by students with the same idea."

Hiro said. Because this was the first time in years that a breach had occurred in UA, emergency drills regarding evacuation had been lax, leading to the process being disorganized.

After their group found a relatively safe and isolated space, Hiro left for a bit to 'check' the windows, then returned to inform Momo and the others that the cause of the alarm was just the news media breaking in.

Momo, hearing this, made a megaphone with her Quirk and turned to the rushing crowd.

"Everyone, please calm down! The cause of this incident was just the reporters breaking in the campus. There is no need to panic!"

She announced 3 times in a steady and commanding voice- her training as the heiress of a large conglomerate being clearly displayed.

By the end, all the students had calmed down, staring at the imposing Momo who stood on top of a cafeteria table.

"Thank you. Now, let us all exit in a manner befitting our status as UA students."

Murmurs of thanks and discussion arose from the crowd about Momo's identity. However, she ignored it, stepping down from the table and smiling as she met the admiring gazes from her friends.

"Momo-chan, that was so cool! That's the president of class 1A for you!"

Mina, Tsuyu, Jiro, Kirishima, and Kaminari all expressed their praise. Iida, Midoriya, and most other students in 1A also went to thank her, making her slightly embarassed.

"I don't deserve all the credit. It was thanks to Hiro that we learned the real cause of the evacuation. Otherwise, I'm afraid few would listen when they know danger still lurks on campus."

"Hmm, I'm sure you'd have figured that out eventually. Anyways, everyone, come on. Hero Training class is next and I don't want to attend that while starving."

His statement instantly met the approving nods of the others. Since it was just false alarm, they went back to their tables and continued to finish their meal.

Hiro also took out the snacks he prepared and distributed them under his friends' drooling gazes. In his mind, however, he pondered about this incident.

Unlike what he said to Momo and the others, he knew the intruders were real. The reporters were just a distraction they used so they could secretly infiltrate this school under the pretense of a false alarm.

Lunch ended and it was finally time for Foundational Heroes Studies.

For this class, they would undergo Rescue Training with Aizawa and All Might in-charge. The muscular hero had already left for the training location much earlier, leaving Aizawa to escort the students there.

The class changed into their costume and, under Momo and Midoriya's lead, boarded a bus that would take them to the rescue training venue.

"Deku, are you okay? You've been shaking since earlier."

"Yes, Uraraka-san! I-I just…I'm still not used to being the vice-president."

"It's fine! I'm sure you'll get the hang of it in no time!"

"Tsk! Useless Deku."

Midoriya froze, clenching his fist in shame at Bakugo's remark.

"Hey! Take that back! Insulting Deku-kun after all his efforts…"

"Indeed, Bakugo-san! As heroes-in-training, we must all support each other instead of bringing each other down! That is the path to becoming true heroes!"

"Fuck off, four-eyes!"

"F-four eyes!?"

Perhaps because Bakugo had not been broken the same way as in the original by Midoriya- but was just humbled by Hiro, his mood gradually became more and more irritable.

Kirishima and the others tried to deescalate the situation, but Iida and Bakugo, like fire and water, kept arguing.

Before the atmosphere got more heated, it was cooled down by an irritated voice from the front.

"You lot, pipe down there in the back. Bakugo, this is your second warning. One more time and I'll send you to disciplinary action. Got it?"

Bakugo tsked, crossing his arms over his chest and staring out the window. Iida also didn't pursue the matter any further, but from him constantly waving his hands, it was clear he was still irritated.

"Midori-chan, why is Baku-chan so angry with you? And why does he call you useless?"

Tsuyu's deadpan voice broke the silent atmosphere. Midoriya stiffened, subtly glancing at Bakugo's direction before hesitantly replying.

"It's because of my Quirk…I break my body whenever I activate it, so I've always avoided using it until now."

Midoriya lowered his head as he felt a slight pang of guilt, and Bakugo's smoldering gaze from behind.

"Your Quirk is a strength enhancement type like Ryuga-chan, right? Maybe you could ask him for advice about it."

Midoriya didn't think that would help. All Might already said that his body needs to get used to it over time- he just needs to constantly adapt to the power until he can fully use it.

Still, too embarassed to refuse, he turned to Hiro and asked.

"How to better use your Quirk? Hmm, Midoriya-kun, from what I saw, you can concentrate your power to your fingers and arms to strengthen them, right?"

"That's right."

"Then why not try spreading it into your entire body? Maybe the reason your arms always get mangled is because the concentration of power is too much there."

"Eh!?"

"Of course, only attempt this under Recovery Girl's supervision. I could be wrong, and it would lead to your whole body being injured instead."

"N-no, you've given me lots to think about. Thank you, Ryugamine-san!"

"You're welcome. I'm also looking forward to the day you can fully control your Quirk, Midoriya-kun."

The atmosphere in the bus slowly became more lively as everyone discussed methods to solve the problems in Midoriya's Quirk, which then eventually led to discussing everyone's Quirks.

They only stopped when the bus finally arrived at their destination.

"Welcome, students, to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint!"

As they stepped out of the vehicle, staring in awe at the large facility before their eyes, a figure wearing a space suit enthusiastically greeted them.

"It's the Space Hero, Thirteen!"

Ochaco exclaimed. Midoriya, the hero nerd that he is, also gushed about the spacesuit-clad hero.

"Before we start your training, I have one or two points to remind everyone."

Thirteen said, silencing the students.

"Many of you may be aware, but my Quirk is called Black Hole. It can suck in and tear apart anything, allowing me to easily destroy debris and rubbles during rescue operations."

"However…my Quirk could also easily kill, and I have no doubt that some among you are in a similar situation."

Some of the students shifted uncomfortably at the sudden dark turn of the topic, but Thirteen continued on.

"We must never forget. It may only take one wrong move from us for people to die. Learning how to fight villains is important, yes, but you must remember the reason you're doing so."

"As heroes, our first priority is to help the people. And in this class, we'll teach you how to use your Quirk to better do that. That is all. Thank you for listening!"

The students clapped, Thirteen's words resonating with their heroic dreams. They were already itching to proceed to the rescue training session after hearing her speech, when a loud whirring sounded from within USJ.

"Everyone, stay back! Thirteen, protect the students!"

Aizawa loudly shouted, the lazy tone gone from his voice, replaced by urgency. He had been standing from further back, and was the first to notice the anomaly.

In the middle of the facility, a large cloud of dark smoke began to spread. And from within the smoke, various figures emerged.

"What's that? Are they our practice enemies in this training?"

"Don't move!!! Stay behind us! Those are…villains."

Most of the students froze up. They stared as more and more figures emerged in the field, unease rising from their hearts.

"Thirteen and Eraser Head? Where's All Might? The staff schedule clearly stated he'd be here."

As the smoke began to disperse, a man with blue hair and countless hands all over his body, spoke in a raspy and increasingly annoyed tone.

"Hey. Where is he? We've brought so many playmates, and he didn't come? Isn't this trip a waste?"

The blue-haired man frantically scratched his neck, causing goosebumps to rise from the watching students.

Then, he stopped, and a maniacal grin spread on his face as his crimson eyes honed in on the figures above.

"I wonder…will some dead kids bring him here?"
