Chapter 4 - 4

Sofia wore a soft white coat, and the white pearl earrings in her ears made her look gentle and elegant. Meanwhile, Davin stared coldly at Alma as if he considered her a stranger, then shifted his gaze to his wedding ring. The ring that Alma was going to sell to Mrs. Linda.Alma looked at Davin and Sofia, then quickly reached out and snatched her wedding ring back from Sofia's grasp.

Alma clenched her fists as she thought, "Why did I meet the person I didn't want to meet at the saddest moment?"

Alma looked at Davin, strengthened her heart, and said firmly, "I'm not selling this jewelry."

Mrs. Linda was offended and sneered, "You've really wasted my time. Next time, I won't come here to order clothes anymore. You have unstable emotions, Miss Alma!"

Linda immediately left Alma's shop. Only Alma, Davin, and Sofia remained.

However... Sofia said softly, "Not selling it? That's a shame. I really like this ring. Actually, I was planning to buy it at a higher price than what you offered to that woman earlier."

"Try to understand, Miss Alma, if you want to sell this high-quality ring in a hurry, you will lose a lot of money."

"Isn't Miss Alma short on money?"

Alma was silent for a moment, trying to digest Sofia's words. Yes, she was short on money, and Davin's mistress knew it, so Sofia trampled on her pride without mercy.

A tired sigh escaped Alma's dry lips. She looked at Davin.

"So you're going to make your relationship public soon? You don't care about our marriage anymore?"

"And you must be Sofia, the woman who stole someone else's husband. Aren't you ashamed to be with a man who already has a wife?!"

"Shut up, Alma, don't you dare belittle Sofia!"

Davin affectionately put his arm around Sofia's shoulder in front of Alma, which succeeded in tearing Alma's heart apart.

"Miss Alma, it seems I don't need to bother introducing myself... yes, I am Sofia, Davin's first love."

After speaking, Sofia winked flirtatiously at Davin.

"Davin, I want that ring. Tell her to sell it to me," Sofia whined playfully.

Then, with a quick movement, Sofia snatched the diamond ring back from Alma's grasp, but Alma realized it and held her wedding ring even tighter. A tug-of-war over the ring ensued between Alma and Sofia, but... the jewelry slipped and flew away, and then there was a 'clink' as the ring hit the floor.

Alma quickly chased after it, but the ring rolled towards Davin's feet. Davin's face suddenly darkened, then he stepped on the jewelry under his feet, the symbol of his marriage to Alma.

Alma was speechless, seeing the object she considered so precious but which others considered trash.

Meanwhile, Davin's ice-cold face stared at Alma's face with anger. Then he asked in a cold tone.

"You sold this ring, Alma?"

Alma held back her tears, biting her lip to keep from crying.

"Yes, would you like to buy it, Mr. Davin?"

Davin smiled sarcastically and said, "I still remember Miss Alma saying how important this ring was to you."

But it seems your sincerity isn't that great. Things that have no sincerity for me are just trash."

Alma suddenly had no strength left to argue.

"Whatever you've given to a man who has changed his heart, he won't care about you anymore, even if you open your heart completely to him," Alma thought.

Then Davin walked away, holding Sofia's arm, completely ignoring Alma, who stood there stunned.

"Let's get out of here, Sofia. I've fulfilled your wish to see this ugly office."

"But Davin, I want that ring. Alma doesn't deserve to wear it," said Sofia, who refused to follow Davin.

"We'll buy another piece of jewelry, one that's more expensive and nicer than that old thing."

Before stepping out the door, Davin unconsciously looked back and saw Alma's sad and broken face. In an instant, Alma, who was usually beautiful, fresh, and energetic, had turned into a woman without passion, her gaze empty and distant. It was as if the pain in her heart had swallowed her soul alive.

Davin narrowed his eyes. Clearly, he himself had abandoned Alma, but why did Davin now feel heartbroken?

Sofia's soft voice broke Davin's reverie.

"Come on, honey, why are you so quiet? You promised to buy me some new jewelry," Sofia whispered coquettishly in Davin's ear.

Davin then looked away from Alma and chose to stroke Sofia's head. He nodded and smiled softly.

"Of course, let's go now."

Alma could only stand frozen, watching the departure of the two people who had hurt her so deeply. But then... her head began to spin, and her body temperature rose. Perhaps it was because she had been exposed to the cold, as she was still wearing wet clothes.

Alma staggered toward her room.

Amelie, Alma's employee, came out of the store.

"Ms. Alma, you look very pale. Are you okay?"

Alma just nodded slowly and smiled sadly.

"I'm fine. Please make me some warm herbal tea in my room," said Alma.

"Yes, Ms. Alma."

After changing into dry clothes, Alma sat on the sofa sipping the warm tea. She felt a little better, but her body was still feverish. Feeling uncomfortable with her rising body temperature, Alma decided to take some fever-reducing medicine.

Alma leaned her weak body against the sofa, her mind racing.

"Vanya... Davin's sister, and my sister-in-law. Your death leaves a big question mark. I swear I will uncover the truth behind all this, for justice for you and peace of mind for me.

"Davin... my husband. I know you harbor resentment and pain, but I won't give up. I will fight with all my strength to keep you, for our love. I won't let Sofia take you away. You are my life, my future.

Alma's feelings, which had almost given up on Davin, began to change, because deep down she still loved Davin very much.

"But what about the rest of the money for my father's surgery, I still haven't gotten it."

"Should I go to the jewelry store and sell my ring there," Alma complained anxiously.

She remembered the moment Davin stepped on their wedding ring with a completely guiltless expression on his face.

"You're right, Davin. We've only been married for a day, and I already feel like I'm in hell in our marriage."

Drtt..drtt

Alma saw a message come in on her cell phone. It was from Eric the detective Alma had hired to investigate Vanya's death.

[Mrs. Alma, I've found new information about the late Vanya]

[Send it to me quickly]

Alma sent a photo

Alma opened the photo, which showed a gravestone in the the cemetery with the inscription 'Vanya Hayes."
