Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: The Mysterious Sponsor, Union Allied Construction

Hmm... I must have been out of my mind last night to change the activation command to this.

"Lincoln's big head!"

As Luca spoke, the red storage case in front of him unfolded rapidly.

Baymax inflated, stood up, and shuffled over to Luca with small steps.

"I am Baymax, your personal healthcare companion." (●—●)

"Yeah, yeah, I know you are. Help me scan her physical condition." Luca pointed to Gina lying on the hospital bed.

The next moment, the green light in Baymax's eyes quickly scanned Gina's entire body, followed by a diagnosis.

"Target's vital signs are within stable range. Partial nerve signal transmission blockage detected. Synaptic junctions are encased in cocoon-like proteins. Recommendation..."

Baymax repeated last night's judgment, and Luca asked while listening.

"According to what you said before, can targeted medication treat this?"

"Diagnosis indicates the target's condition is still in the early stages. With continuous administration of targeted medication for over 12 weeks, the probability of successful treatment is 87.6%," Baymax replied.

Hearing this, Shamila's face lit up with joy. Just now, the doctor had brought good news, and now the robot made by the young master also gave a high probability of successful treatment.

It seems the Madam really has a chance to wake up.

However, compared to Shamila's optimism, Luca frowned slightly.

"12 weeks? That's three months? Counting the time for drug development, it'll probably take at least six months or even a year before she wakes up."

"Baymax, will the condition worsen during this period?" Luca pressed further.

"Database indicates that Synaptic Encapsulation Syndrome leads to slow thickening of the cocooned proteins over time. As long as daily care and neuromuscular stimulation exercises are maintained, vital signs will not be affected. However, the thickening protein layer will increase the difficulty for the targeted medication to break it down, delaying the patient's recovery time."

I have a feeling that expert panel is unreliable. Looks like I need to find a partner biopharmaceutical lab as soon as possible.

Under Shamila's slightly worried gaze, Luca looked up at her again, his expression serious.

"Auntie Shamila, help me contact the lawyer and the family fund. I need to calculate how much assets I can currently mobilize."

Yes, although it was his family's money, Luca couldn't just use it whenever he wanted.

Commissioning a lab to develop drugs for him, even with the formula data, would likely cost a significant amount.

Given Luca's age, mobilizing large assets or selling stocks under his parents' names required necessary procedures.

Fortunately, since the expense was for treating his mother Gina, the legal procedures would be much simpler with this justification.

After discussing the assets, Luca added:

"Also, Auntie Shamila, please ask around to find out who sponsored and proposed the establishment of the expert panel at the hospital."

From Luca's perspective, his family's connections hadn't been able to get Strange to diagnose his mother before.

Now, someone had not only brought in Strange but also organized a hospital expert panel and initiated this "experimental treatment." Whoever did this must have significant influence.

Perhaps it was some big shot who also had a family member with a similar condition.

If that was the case, the drug formula in his hand might have other avenues for rapid development.

Shamila nodded, noting down these tasks one by one.

Maybe I can bring Mother home for care in a while, Luca thought.

This condition was similar to a vegetative state; it wouldn't suddenly worsen, nor would rest alone cure it.

Keeping Gina in the hospital was mainly because the medical staff there were more professional, and there was a sliver of hope for treatment.

Now that there was a treatment direction, and Baymax itself was the best professional medical companion...

Bringing Gina home for care would be much more convenient.

But all of this would have to wait until Luca sorted out the messy situation he was currently in.

After lingering in the ward for more than two hours, Luca and Shamila got up to leave.

According to Shamila, the tactical squad members would arrive around evening today. Naturally, Luca didn't plan to meet them at the hospital.

Moreover, the 3D printing running at home should be almost finished.

Originally, Luca wanted to take this opportunity to visit a nearby mall and look for potential "Core Components."

However, under Shamila's strong discouragement, he temporarily abandoned the idea.

After all, he still had [Sweet Surrender] "on hand" waiting to be synthesized, so there was no rush for new components.

On the way back.

Shamila's phone suddenly rang while she was driving. After a short call, she continued driving steadily while reporting to Luca in a serious tone.

"Master, there are results regarding the investigation on Dragan you asked me to hire someone for."

Hearing this, Luca, who had been resting with his eyes closed, sat up straight and waited quietly for Shamila to continue.

"Although we haven't found Dragan's current whereabouts yet, his movements over the past two years are traceable."

"Two years ago..."

Listening to Shamila's unhurried narration, Luca got the gist of it.

Two years ago, after Dragan was kicked out of the company by Gina...

Relying on the large "severance" sum Gina gave him out of charity, he didn't choose to stay in New York. Instead, he took the money and went everywhere to "live it up."

During this period, he invested in some small companies, hoping to turn his fortune around and prove his sister wrong. But consecutive investment failures thoroughly extinguished Dragan's unrealistic ambitions.

About a year ago, relying on his previous investment experience and remaining large amounts of cash, Dragan became a famous high roller in Las Vegas.

But his funds were ultimately finite.

After a period of debauchery, all of Dragan's cash was drained by the bottomless pit of Las Vegas. He could only rely on his previous "good" reputation to continue scamming and borrowing.

However, a while ago, it was said that when he was about to be hunted down and buried alive, he suddenly paid off the debts owed to the most powerful factions, then disappeared from Las Vegas.

It seemed likely that the faction arranging the gunmen to protect Dragan had paid off his debts, or perhaps transferred the debt to themselves.

As for why the investigation was so clear, it was naturally because many individual debts he owed still hadn't been repaid.

Even now, there were still many clueless people in Las Vegas cursing him while searching for his whereabouts.

"So, we still can't confirm who is pulling the strings behind the scenes?"

"Yes. However, Master, the private investigator found out one more thing. Of the three vehicles that attacked us that day, both large trucks came from a shell company called Union Allied Construction!"
