Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Tessaiga

"You are back." Inuyasha said.

"Yeah. Come here and look what I found," Akari said, gesturing to him. Inuyasha moved toward her, but when he got close, he caught the scent of blood.

"Are you hurt?! You smell like blood." His reaction disconcerted Akari. But then, she remembered that it could be because of the 'world consciousness' effect. After all, she didn't try to get closer to Inuyasha, and even now, they were only good colleagues.

"Yes, it was just a minor mishap, but I obtained another fragment." Inuyasha saw the new fragment, but he was not happy at all. He tried to say something, but at that moment, a carriage in the sky appeared. Inuyasha was so astonished at the person inside it that he forgot what he was about to say.

Akari noticed the woman inside the carriage and thought that even when she was a fake, Inuyasha's mother was definitely a beauty. She had no intention of getting involved in this, but she couldn't help saying something. "She's not real, you realize that, right?"

Inuyasha didn't answer. Akari understood his feelings, so she didn't say anything else.

"You! Sesshōmaru, bastard, what are you doing?"

"Oh, well, it seems you remember the face of your elder brother." Sesshōmaru looked at her, and Akari went stiff.

"Oh, you are with a vile human as you just like your half-breed part, you have brought shame upon our family." Akari furrowed her brows. It was rude, even though she was scared of him, so she stayed quiet.

"I don't have time, so I'm going to ask you once. Where is Father's tomb?"

"I have no idea."

"Well then, your mother is going to suffer for that." Sesshōmaru lied to Inuyasha and told him she was her mother's soul. Inuyasha believed him, and both ended up in the spiritual world of the woman.

Akari remained still on the ground. These events were important to Inuyasha and Sesshōmaru, so it was necessary that nothing changed.

When the time came, Myoga the flea found her and awoke her. Akari walked to Inuyasha and used her hand covered with spiritual power to touch the woman. She immediately screamed in pain and let Inuyasha free.

"Are you okay?" Akari told Inuyasha.

He observed the woman and murmured in stunned silence.

"She was not real..." In that second, Sesshōmaru took Inuyasha's neck and ripped out Inuyasha's eye, where the tomb was hidden. Akari felt a shiver down her back. He was very vicious.

A portal was opened, and Sesshōmaru entered without doubt. Myoga the flea saw Sesshōmaru leave and hurried them up.

They got inside the tomb, and Akari listened to the story of Inuyasha's father and his treasure sword, Tessaiga. The sword that could destroy one hundred demons in one swing. Akari was very interested in this last part. Because Midoriko was capable of the same with her sword imbued with spiritual power.

Soon she has no more time to think about it. Inuyasha arrived at the tomb and ran towards Sesshōmaru. Akari stayed back and just encouraged Inuyasha to take the sword. But Inuyasha and Sesshōmaru failed to take the sword as in the original story.

When Jaken, Sesshōmaru'sretainer, tried to attack Inuyasha, Akari took Tessaiga and threatened him.

"You move, and I cut you." Inuyasha and Sesshōmaru stopped their fight, shocked.

Jaken said, stuttering. "How could a human like you take the sword...?"

"How are you able to draw the sword?" Sesshōmaru moved closer and asked her. Akari didn't answer him; her fingers were trembling just being in front of him.

"Sesshōmaru, let her go! She has nothing to do with this!"

"I disagree, Inuyasha, especially since she is your companion." Akari covered her body with spiritual energy subtly when Sesshōmaru used his poison on her.

Akari sighed in relief when she saw the barrier of the sword activated. Her weak spiritual power was not very useful against the poison of a demon so powerful as Sesshōmaru. She stayed under the poison for a few minutes, holding her breath, before she stood up quickly and threw the sword to Inuyasha.

"Inuyasha, here." Inuyasha unconsciously took the sword and looked at her.

"Akari, are you okay?" Akari nodded and whispered.

"I'm not going to survive if your brother keeps attacking me like that."

Inuyasha clicked his tongue and said. "Don't worry, I will protect you" Akari smiled and took refuge.

Sesshōmaru, transformed into his demon form, was very intimidating and strong because of it. Inuyasha was beaten for a while before he could activate the true form of his father's sword, and Inuyasha cut off Sesshōmaru's arm, making him withdraw from the fight.

Akari walked to Inuyasha and saw him laughing.

"Thanks for your gift, father." Both returned to the village, and Inuyasha's eye recovered from the damage.

"How can I use the real form of this sword?" Inuyasha murmured.

Akaria heard and told him. "Do you want to know?"

"You know it?"

"Yeah, let me ask you something: what is the principal difference between Sesshōmaru and you?"

"What does that have to do with Tessaiga?" Akari chuckled.

"Everything, I'm going to make it easy for you. If you become completely demon, you would never have the chance to use that sword, because only someone with human blood can take it. I'm the best example, am not I?" Inuyasha stayed silent. It sounded crazy, but he couldn't refute her. Also, he had heard from Myoga the flea that this sword was created to protect his mother, who was a human.

"You can't have everything in life." Akari told him those words and left. This is a mental training that he might need in the future.
