Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The fall

Akari dodges the centipede woman's attack and says loudly.

"Hey! Unknown guy, I need your help. Can we make a deal? I will take off that arrow, and you help me." Inuyasha, who can't even talk, looks upset.

"Ja! Kikyou, are you teasing me? Just finish with her as you did with me" Akari wants to swear.

"I'm not your Kikyou, okay? Don't change the subject, just tell me if you want to be released or not?" Inuyasha observed her for a moment before saying.

"You really are not her" Akari was about to convince him when he said.

"Something is coming" Akari only feels the pain in her body being destroyed.

"The Shikon pearl is mine" Akari bit her lips to not scream. She didn't look at the pearl that fell off her body.

"The Shikon pearl was inside you?" Inuyasha asked, confused.

Akari doesn't answer; she runs towards Inuyasha. She could see Madame Kaede behind the bushes. There is no time to doubt.

The centipede woman caught her with her body and strangled both.

"A Half-Demon, it looks as though your power is being sealed, isn't it? I have heard that a half-demon called Inuyasha is after the Shikon pearl. But you can't move, can you? So just watch…" The centipede woman started to transform with the power of the pearl while Akari moved her hand and took the arrow.

"That arrow is Inuyasha's seal. He must not be freed" Akari ignores Madame Kaede; she doesn't want to die.

Inuyasha didn't pay attention either. In fact, he said. "Can you pull out this arrow? You mention a deal, right? I agree. I am going to help you. You don't want to die, do you? Release me" Akari clenched her teeth. She prayed, Please make it function.

She squeezed the arrow in her hand with all her strength and wished, 'Please release Inuyasha.'

Fortunately, the arrow vanished, and Inuyasha successfully destroyed the centipede woman.

Akari just took a moment to sigh with relief before Madame Kaede asked her to search for the Shikon pearl.

"Hey, hand over the Shikon pearl, unless you want to die…" Akari thought, 'here we go.'

"Never hand it over, Akari." Madame Kaede said.

Akari felt irritated and asked "So, Madame Kaede, what should I do? Maybe let him kill me. Fight with him? Perhaps you are prepared to die for this little pearl, but I'm not."

Both seemed surprised by my answer. But Akari didn't care; this is not just a novel now, it's her reality, and she feels real pain. She is still bleeding, and no one has the right to order her to sacrifice herself.

Inuyasha was the first to react and say "You are a funny little girl, well, give it to me" when it seemed that Akari was about to give him the pearl.

Madame Kaede made her move; she threw Inuyasha the necklace and told Akari.

"Akari speaks any subordinating word, now" Akari doesn't dare to change the original words and says.

"Sit!"

"What the hell is this?" Inuyasha screams, but Akari doesn't pay attention to him. She lay down on the ground exhausted.

"In this age of war, if they can get the Shikon pearl, they can achieve all their desires." Akari listened to Madame Kaede in silence. "I guess that it is destiny that the pearl ends here again with the reincarnation of my sister Kikyou."

"Madame Kaede, it is actually a shame, but even if I am your sister's reincarnation, as you said, why am I supposed to do that? I think you already know, but I'm not from here. This is not my home. I don't have any obligation to your people. I'm sorry, but I have family, and they need me. I don't want to die for a war that is not even mine. I believe that your sister was very noble in her duty of protecting the pearl, but it has nothing to do with me."

Madame Kaede seemed speechless, and even Inuyasha was surprised. But Akari thought they had nothing to be surprised about. It was stupid to impose the debt of death on the living. Reincarnation or not. It was a fact that Kikyou was dead.

That's how a day full of inconveniences went by.

The next morning, Akari left the village and walked around. She felt stifled in this place. As if something was guiding her, she ended up in Inuyasha's forest again. At that moment, Akari thought, Could it be possible that the plot had come early?

A second after she thought about it. She could feel someone behind her. The man tried to capture but she avoided him. If the adversary was a man and not a demon, she had the confidence to at least escape.

Akari turned around and saw a man with medieval armor. It was the group of crooks that appeared in the original plot.

"Don't resist, little girl."

Akari kicked in the neck before he could even react. The man fell on the ground motionless. But before Akari left, more men surrounded her. Akari clicked her tongue.

Akari made fun of the guy and kicked him sharply in the neck before he could react. The man collapsed and lay motionless on the ground. As Akari turned to leave, several more men moved in, forming a circle around her. Akari clicked her tongue in annoyance, knowing she couldn't easily avoid this confrontation.

Akari quickly chose a direction and started running, weaving between the men. Despite her efforts, she eventually found herself inside the demon's hideout.

"Give the jewel." Even she could feel the stench coming from this man. She avoided him, while he started to murder the people around them. From one moment to another, something really fast took the jewel from her neck and escaped flying. It was an evil crow.

At that time, Inuyasha finally arrived.

"Where is the jewel?" Akari answered quickly.

"With the crow, in the sky." Inuyasha saw bows and arrows nearby and told her.

"Come with me." Akari laughed.

"No way, I don't know how to use a bow." Well, honestly she knew how to use one but it is from modern design, so it did not matter. Inuyasha wanted to answer back. But Akari reminded him.

"The jewel is far away now." He seemed upset, but he left anyway.

Akari sighed and ran to the river, where Inuyasha was attacking the crow. She took a bow and arrow. Although she really didn't want to shatter the jewel. There is no other way. She shot the arrow with the part of the crow and destroyed the demon and the jewel.

Soon, Inuyasha approached her to find the jewel. She guided him to the jewel fragment, and as in the original story, Madame Kaede asked her and Inuyasha to collect the fragments.

"Akari, I know you're right. But if you don't collect the fragments, the world will be so chaotic that you'll be drawn in anyway, no matter how far you go."

Akari didn't refuse this time. However, she said. "I agree, but I have a requirement..."

Inuyasha clicked his tongue while thinking she was very clever.

Two days later, as dawn began to break over the quiet forest, the sound of an arrow embedding itself was heard occasionally.

Akari tightened the bowstring one more time, feeling the new presence on the top of the tree, she said. "If you are looking for the fragment, you should arrive before I wake up." Inuyasha snorted and said.

"It is not necessary to pretend to be friendly with me when you clearly have wrecked your hands only to learn how to shoot me."

"Oh." Inuyasha clenched his teeth. This woman is so much more odious than Kikyou. He was about to distance himself from her.

"Inuyasha, I need to go home for a while, take care of the people here." Inuyasha looked at her and he said, "Don't give orders. You can leave, you are not necessary here."

Akari scoffed and put the arrow in the ground. She disregarded her bleeding hands and headed to the well. She arrived at it when she could see those strands of hair surrounding her. It was that woman.

"You are searching for this?" The woman was a little surprised but quickly attacked with her hair.

Akari threw the fragment, and in the moment the woman was distracted. Akari jumped into the well.
