Chapter 10 - The Captain Calvary, Kaeya

"Phew... It finally ran away..." Paimon sighed in relief as she watched the fading dragon disappear into the sky.

"Aaaah! Why did it even run away!?"

Completely contrary to Paimon's relief, Jibril's smile had instantly froze.

Her golden crossed eyes stared at the empty sky. The black swords floating around her body trembled violently with anger as it produced a clashing metal ringing sound.

"...Jibril maybe we should first..."

"Lumine.. You just head back first!"

"W-What are you going to do?"

Jibril's wings suddenly spread to their maximum extent and black energy rapidly spread through her wings.

"Today, I must make it understand... what it truly means to—return the favor!"

Regardless of whether Jibril was truly angry, her commotion was certainly loud enough to make the duo become silent.

A gentle breeze slowly blew, bringing a tenderness completely opposite to the previous storm.

[The two of you... distinguished travelers from afar. Could you please spare this child for now?]

Suddenly, an unfamiliar voice arrived.

"Who... who is speaking?" Paimon huddled by Lumine's head as she cautiously looked around.

Of course, she couldn't see anyone around, including the wind that was gently circling the group.

[...I cannot show myself right now, but we will meet later. I promise.]

After saying this, the unfamiliar voice gave no further response.

Paimon and Lumine did not know the identity of the voice, but Jibril did.

Furthermore, relying on the power of the elements (Spirit Corridor). She could even sense that the other person hadn't left at all but was hiding within the surrounding wind.

[T/L: I'm not sure whether to refer to it as elements or spirit corridor? I might just start changing and referring it to spirit corridor, or would magic be a better term?]

If I suddenly disappear.. Would he immediately start to panic?

"...Jibril?" Paimon asked tentatively as she looked at the gradually calming Flügel.

"Hmm?"

"Should we go down?"

Looking at the swords surrounding her, Jibril grabbed the longest one. Her fingertip lightly brushed the sword spine, wiping across the reflection of her golden crossed eyes.

"Let's just go down..." The Flügel waved her hand and flew to Lumine's side. "Lumine, haven't you noticed that you've been floating for a long time?"

Hearing Jibril's words, the blonde seemed to realize.

She's been floating in the sky for over ten minutes and relying only on her wind glider. Compared to previously when gliding to the plaza would leave her breathless.

"Jibril... are you saying that the voice was helping me?"

"Maybe. Anyway." The Flügel pouted unhappily. "That coward Stormterror has already slipped away."

'Coward? Really...?'

Lumine looked at the swords beside Jibril and then recalled the scene of her stopping the dragon bare-handed just moments ago. She silently wiped the cold sweat from her brow.

Soon, accompanied by the Flügel, the blonde glided back to the plaza using her wind glider.

As soon as she landed, she saw Amber rushing over, anxiously grabbing Lumine's shoulder.

"Are you two alright! I saw..." Amber trailed off halfway through her sentence when she noticed the dense circle of swords surrounding the Flügel.

She suddenly realized that Lumine had been accidentally caught up in it but this Jibril wasn't.

Jibril most likely flew up there herself!

Jibril noticed Amber's gaze on the swords. "Do you like them? Want to take one~"

"No thank you..." Amber quickly waved her hand as she looked at the sword.

As an Archer, she couldn't exactly shoot a sword could she?

Just as Jibril was about to force a sword on her, a sound of 'clap, clap, clap' suddenly came from afar.

[T/L: Ayo?]

A dark-skinned man wearing an eye patch slowly walked out. His steps were extremely slow, and his face held the expression of someone who had just watched a good show.

"I've long heard... that there is a Traveler who just happened to look very much like the Anemo Archon. Now that I've seen, she certainly isn't the Archon himself."

The man stood a few meters away, his single eye meeting Jibril's golden crossed eyes, revealing undisguised scrutiny and caution.

"After all, with so many weapons surrounding this young lady. It looks more like she intends to kill? Are you truly a new ally... or a new storm?"

"Kaeya!?"

Amber cried out in surprise, interrupting Kaeya's 'monologue'.

However, Jibril thought it didn't matter. Since this guy has a calm poker face, no changes in his expression could be seen anyway.

She's prepared to handle him.

"Kaeya! you've come at the right time. Stormterror has started attacking Mondstadt! We-"

"Hold on, Amber."

Kaeya suddenly interrupted Amber as he carefully scrutinized the two women. However, rather than looking at Lumine, his gaze was fixed more on Jibril.

"Are you perhaps forgetting to introduce us?"

"Oh... right. This is Kaeya, our Calvary Captain."

After explaining to the two of them, Amber turned back to Kaeya.

"These three are Travelers from afar; Jibril, Lumine, and Paimon."

Kaeya listened and observed the two carefully. Lumine returned his gaze with a very polite smile, but Jibril was different.

She picked up a thin and long sword.

"Hey Handsome~"

Kaeya seemed unprepared for her opening remark. He then looked at the silent Amber beside him and then pointed to himself.

"Me?"

"Of course, there's clearly no other male here," The Flügel said as she turned the sword hilt toward Kaeya and handed it over directly. "A small gift for our first meeting, please accept it~"

"Oh~ Thank you, beautiful lady, I am undeserving."

"It's fine, Calvary Captain Sir. Amber said she didn't want it..."

A timely cold wind blew past, Kaeya's eyebrow twitched and he suddenly felt the sword in his hand weigh a lot more.

"...Since she uses a bow, I thought it would be more suitable to give it to you instead~"

"Haha, I see..."

Seeing that Kaeya seemed reluctant to speak, Amber quickly continued introducing the pair's background.

"Long story short, Lumine came to Mondstadt in search of her brother and as for Jibril... she's just her traveling companion."

After hearing Amber's introduction, Kaeya slowly let out a sigh.

"So that's the case... I see, then welcome to Mondstadt. Though you haven't arrived at the best of times, I'm afraid."

Kaeya looked at the blonde before him and said with genuine emotions. "I understand the anguish of being separated from family, Traveler."

"It's alright..."

"Don't mention it! Once the Stormterror issue is resolved, we will certainly assist you, especially since..."

Kaeya shifted his eye and looked at the Flügel who was counting the remaining weapons nearby.

"You have such a powerful and excellent friend by your side; you will surely find him."

Kaeya sighed slightly and looked up at the still gray sky.

"In any case, your fight to defend the city against the dragon just now was witnessed by no small number of citizens. The Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius is also very interested in meeting you all and formally invites you three to our headquarters."

Lumine looked at Jibril who made an unfamiliar gesture. It must mean... approval?

"Alright, no problem."

"Then please follow me." Kaeya led the way as he flourished his new black sword beautifully.

Taking small steps beside Jibril, the group followed behind Kaeya as they walked toward the headquarters of the Knights of Favonius.
