Chapter 12 - La Signora

After some planning, the group generally decided on the next phase of their plan.

Lumine, Paimon, Jibril, and the Knights of Favonius personnel split into three groups, as they headed to three different temples.

"Lumine, once Kaeya and I are done here, I'll come find you~" Jibril said gently as she lightly patted Lumine's shoulder.

...After all, she really, really wanted to team up with Lumine! No... if Lisa could join too... *cough*.

Business first. It seemed Kaeya's group might encounter an Abyss Mage and... meet a new character, a certain red and very hot boy.

"Thank you all again." Jean said with a smile. "Are there any issues with the plan?"

"No issues."

"Then we will set off on time tomorrow. Everyone should rest well tonight... Lumine, since you just arrived in Mondstadt, you probably don't have much Mora on you, right?"

Lumine nodded awkwardly.

The blonde had been camping out for several days and was only finding a few Mora when opening treasure chests.

The total amount was only enough for one or two pieces of toast. Perhaps even less than what Jibril had.

"Then, as a reward for helping Mondstadt, I'll give you some mora. Consider it a small token of appreciation from the Knights of Favonius!"

Jean bent down as she took a large bag of Mora from the office cabinet and handed it to Lumine.

The heavy weight resting in the blonde's hand was truly reassuring.

'System, can you help me transfer the Mora from my account? We'll split it three-to-seven!'

[Let me see how much you have first...] After a stuttering electronic sound, the System clicked its tongue twice. [Three-to-seven split... alright. I'll transfer thirty million to you.]

'No way... I—I mean, you take three parts.'

Could the System really agree to such a request?

Of course not! This is the original Jibril's account. What does it have to do with her?

[[Fireworks] [Fireworks] [Fireworks] Congratulations! Your System has provided you with 100,000,000 Mora funds! 29,000,000 of which will be used for mission rewards]

[Tip: Extra service fee: 70,000,000 Mora.]

[So, hurry up and use 1,000,000 Mora to have a good meal, book a room, and enjoy this wonderful night~]

The System quietly departed just as quietly as it arrived. She waved her sleeve and all that was hidden was Mora.

Jibril: Isn't this bullying an honest person!?

"Jibril what's wrong?"

The Flügel turned her head as she looked at Lumine with a face full of despair.

"Lumine..."

"?"

Lumine didn't know why the other party suddenly wilted but it didn't matter. Paimon thought she knew.

"Jibril? Are you hungry... want to eat?" Paimon looked at the Flügel expectantly and had occasionally glanced at the glittering bag of Mora in Lumine's hand.

"Acting Grand Master Jean, I had promised the Traveler I would treat them..." Amber suddenly remembered her previous words as she looked apologetic towards Jean.

"It's fine, Amber. The Knights of Favonius don't have any extremely urgent matters as of now."

"Well then Acting Grand Master Jean, we'll be leaving now!"

Lumine waved towards Jean while pulling the still dazed Flügel toward the exit.

"Ah.. everyone, wait a moment!" Jean called out to them again.

"Jibril please... be mindful of the impact you can cause within the city. Thank you."

"After all, causing a disturbance would not be good." Jean said while looking at the Flügel.

"Oh, I'll be careful..." Jibril casually agreed.

She'd eat how she wanted, fly how she wanted, whatever. Close her eyes and just slack off.

As for disturbances?

Where is the disturbance!? All she saw were a group of devout citizens joyfully welcoming their savior!

System: Salvation, salvation.

Seeing as how Jibril agreed, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

They walked out of the Knights of Favonius headquarters. The sky had already darkened. Led by Amber, they walked towards the lower part of Mondstadt's City.

One hour later, Goth Grand Hotel.

This was one of the top high-end hotels in Mondstadt City. Although Jibril only had 1,000,000 Mora, she could stay for a few nights.

Unfortunately, it had been booked out by a certain Harbinger—who was possibly a twisted Archon Fan—to be used as an active base for the Fatui.

Knock, knock, knock—

"Enter."

The guard at the door opened it for the Debt Collector. He walked in fearfully and immediately saw La Signora half-sitting, half-reclining on the luxurious sofa.

She was fiddling with the chess set on the coffee table, her eyes completely ignoring the man as she drank her black tea.

"La Signora, what did you need me for?" Fatui Pyro Agentbowed his head, seemingly afraid to look directly at her.

La Signora remained silent, tapping the chessboard with her index finger, her brows slightly furrowed as if contemplating something.

The air was silent; La Signora ignored his words.

The Debt Collector's gaze fell upon the magnificent chessboard on her coffee table, then upon the piece she held in her hand—it was a Queen.

After several minutes of silence, La Signora elegantly sipped a mouthful of black tea, finally turning her gaze toward him. "Have you investigated thoroughly? Why did Stormterror's attack end so quickly?"

"...Y-yes, we investigated thoroughly. Someone helped the Knights of Favonius, otherwise—"

"Who was it?"

La Signora's voice suddenly rose and her gaze, as sharp as winter, startled the Debt Collector.

...Damn it, this is why he hated this woman; she was always so bipolar! He really wanted to work under Childe... "It's the same person who caused the disturbance in Mondstadt City previously. We weren't able to confirm her identity yet."

La Signora let out a displeased snort as she shifted slightly while crossing her right leg over her left knee, her eyes filled with arrogance and contempt.

"Just investigating one person's identity... You are all agents chosen by Her Majesty The Tsaritsa. Why is your efficiency so low?"

"La Signora... Please calm your anger. You... may not know. But that person is somewhat special."

"...Hmm? How could she be special? Did you see her means of attack?"

"N-No, we are temporarily unable to determine her threat level or means of offense," Fatui Pyro Agent looked up slightly as if carefully choosing his words. "Her specialty.. I should say is her appearance..."

Bang—!

La Signora slammed her hand down hard on the chessboard. Except for the Queen in her hand while the other chess pieces scattered across the floor with a clatter.

"Did you think my time is a joke? That I have time to waste here messing around with you!?"

Although La Signora wouldn't fly into a rage like a monster. Fatui Pyro Agent was sure she was angry and quickly lowered his posture even further.

"La Signora, please calm your anger! She- there's a reason, a very good... No, not good, she—"

"She looks... somewhat like the Anemo Archon Statue!"

The room fell silent for a moment, leaving only the crackling sound of the fireplace burning.

"Her travel companions don't look special. But she has a glowing halo above her head, a pair of wings growing from her back, and... she can even fly in the sky! I'm certain that it wasn't a wind glider."

Just as he was desperately trying to think of anything else to report, the man suddenly noticed a pair of bare, pale feet silently walking across the carpet right in front of him.

He neither dared to look up nor dared to keep staring at her feet; his entire body tensed up.

"Focus on investigating her identity. If you have any information, report it to me immediately," the icy voice came from a position extremely close to him. "You are an elite member of the Fatui; don't be misled by public opinion... The Anemo Archon won't appear this easily."

"Get out."

Fatui Pyro Agent felt as if he had received a great pardon. He quickly straightened up, bowed to La Signora again and hurried out of the room.

With a bang, the door closed. Just as the man, whose body felt weak, turned the corner, his subordinate rushed up to him.

"Boss! Boss! What did La Signora say? Do we have to work overtime?"

The man slowly turned back, looking at the closed door. He first adjusted his coat and then slammed his palm heavily onto his subordinate's back.

"Let's go. Time to work."

"Boss, where are we going?"

"Angel's Share!"
