She has Lymphoma for years.
Lymphoma is cancer in your lymphatic system, that helps fight off infection in your body.
The reason she's been sickly is because her immune system is already weakened so she's prone to infections.
She stopped going to medical school years ago.
She's been living in a care facility since there are days that she's been too sick to take care of herself .
Her parents are dead and her sister is living overseas.
She's been working as a part time editor and though it's been helping paying her medical bills, money is still tight.
There are days when she got too sick to go out of bed so she decided to stay in a care facility.
While she's been on treatment for years, some of the treatment wasn't effective and she's resistant to some medications. Mostly, it's been helping controlling some of her symptoms and managing the pain.
She told me that she's too exhausted and just wanted to enjoy her life.
....
I sat alone in the car for a long time, thinking of what to do.
I decided to take a long vacation.
....
The next few days, I convinced her to live at my place. I can take care of her. I want to make up years of separation. But before that, I realized that I haven't told her what I feel.
While we were busy packing up her things, I suddenly hugged her behind and told her my true feelings. She stopped and sighed.
"What took you so long?"
....
I was on leave for 2 months. We went shopping on the first week, bought all the things we both needed and wanted. I gave her one of my spare rooms and helped her decorate her room. Of course, it was space themed. Also, there are several bookshelves for her newly bought books.
We went out a lot, went to places like museums and parks. We bought some plants and decorated our place.
We also visited the hospital regularly.
Her appetite although it improved, she still couldn't eat a lot so we ended up storing a lot of food in our refrigerator.
At night, we talked a lot.
Cuddled.
Kissed.
And ended up sleeping with each other.
Sometimes we sleep together in my room. But most of the times, we ended up sleeping at her room.
We are planning to go to other countries as well but she got more exhausted lately. I know time is running out so I picked out the country which I know she would love and prepared all the necessary stuff.
Especially the ring.
....
We got married.
It was a small ceremony. We invited a few of our intimate friends and my family. Her sister couldn't make it but was on video call the entire ceremony.
The place we got married was a small park near the beach. The place was filled with all kinds of flowers, in every color and size.
Our reception was by the beach where we watched the sunset and enjoyed the evening sky. The weather was in our favor and the wind was cool enough. Stars filled the evening sky and we had a person playing violin, making the event perfect and romantic.
That evening, back in our place, after we had our lovemaking session, she told me she loved me for a very long time but I was just too stupid to notice it.
Then she told me her story.
