"You, come here. I will give you an important task!"
Nafız called out to the man standing in front of his family, who had cowered in the corner. The shop owner, unable to recover from the shock of what he saw, would only be able to understand what was said after the third time.
"Coming right away, ma'am. Please, please!"
What had happened just a moment ago; the men seeing the scrawny female orc had trembled in fear and attacked each other with a single word of hers. A physique of human dimensions, hair turning red at the tips, and two coal-black daggers. There was no doubt; this orc was the person mentioned with hatred among humans.
"Blood God Nafız!"
"Wow, how famous I have become in this city. While I don't know any of them, all humans know who I am at first sight!"
Thinking he had angered the female orc facing him after her words, the man made a move to throw himself at her feet just as he did to the leader of the extortionists.
"Stand up! No need to make stupid moves; take your family and go to the mansion of the Partheni family without being seen by anyone!"
The man, walking towards his wife and little daughter, turned his back after a step or two.
"Ma'am, it is impossible for them to let us in there!"
The owner of the voice was right; they couldn't just stroll into the house of one of the city's three noble families. Nafız, remembering that something which was child's play for her could be very difficult for others, let out a deep sigh.
"Tell the orc guards at the door; Commander Nafız sent us to Lady Eftelya. If you don't believe, you can ask her if she knows Istanbul!"
While talking to the young girl, Nafız frequently mentioned this city where she lived in her previous life. Eftelya was also very curious; she would move heaven and earth to bring the subject there.
"They might want to get rid of you. Don't forget to add that she said if you don't inform her, she will burn you alive like those traitors when she returns!"
Those protecting the houses of the three noble families were members of the orc tribe in the Arid Region. Since they had witnessed both the war and what happened during the banquet, it was impossible for them not to understand the seriousness of the event.
"We are going immediately, ma'am. Through the back streets, without being seen by anyone, we will go to the place you said!"
The family quickly left the place where they had terrible times. They were leaving behind ten corpses and a female orc.
"What a mess! They are like novice butchers; they need to cut a man repeatedly to kill him!"
Nafız, complaining, was scanning the room covered in blood with her eyes. Fortunately, she had a transportation ring of massive size.
It was impossible to put a breathing thing into her interspatial ring because there was no air inside to breathe.
After gathering the dead bodies in one move, the Blood God threw the unconscious leader onto her back and let herself fall into the void from the window she entered.
After two steps downwards, she found herself on the opposite roof. Marcos's castle wasn't very far; before a hundred breaths passed, she had already entered the garden over the high walls.
Meanwhile, the young Lord was standing in front of the window in his study, watching the surroundings. When someone entering his castle caught his eye, he panicked slightly.
"No need to worry; the person you see is Commander Nafız, but I don't know what business the person on her back has with her!"
When Kübey understood the situation of the person she protected and made the necessary explanation, the City Lord breathed a sigh of relief. The leader of the bodyguards had sharp eyes and sensitive ears. Even if Nafız didn't know, she knew the person she was carrying on her back.
After a not very long time, the orc opening the double-winged door of the room and entering inside threw the man she carried on her back to the floor. The jolt would bring the leader of the extortionists to his senses; while looking around, his eyes fell on Marcos whose black hair danced on his shoulders.
There wasn't a distance of three steps between them. Thinking I shouldn't miss this opportunity, the riffraff leader transferred all his remaining strength to his knees and leaped from his place. While the man taking his first step started the second with hope, he saw the fingers of his extended hand turn backward.
"Ahhhhhhhhh!"
His whole body was advancing in the same direction with great momentum, except for his fingers which suddenly changed their mind. His eyes looking at the source of the pain would see the green hand gripping him like a vise; a breath later, one side of his face was sticking back to the floor.
"Ma'am, I speak with all due respect. I hope you don't have a plan to test me with such an insect. I would count this event as an insult to myself and our tribe!"
Since the female orc who was the leader of the bodyguards was on alert at every moment, it was easy for her to sense the intention of the person on the ground, but the low strength of the man annoyed her. She expressed her displeasure with the situation in a polite but firm manner.
"I caught the wretch while torturing a family; he was saying some things about the city lord and us. I expect a detailed report from you on the subject; let it be ready before the sun sets!"
"Do not worry! While you chat with my lord, I will be busy with this task!"
The Blood God's eyes shone; Miloş spoke highly of the female orc, but she didn't expect this much. Even though she received a task she couldn't refuse, while leaving the side of the person she would protect, she knew how to guarantee his safety.
"Brevity is the soul of wit; be quick about it! And work on places that won't show when he puts on clothes, friend!"
"Yes, ma'am!"
The leader of the bodyguards, dragging the man whom she grabbed by his twisted wrist on the floor, left the room and set off to go to her private office. The wide corridor had already started to groan with screams; evidently, Kübey was on the job.
The City Lord had neither understood nor been able to ask what happened. He just had an expression questioning why the person thrown into his room was in that state.
"Marcos, it seems unlike me, you know the person I brought. Shall we clarify this matter first?"
His inability to recognize the man was annoying Nafız a little; understanding this from the tone of her voice, the Lord of Parthenia didn't wait long for the answer.
"The young master of a family trading slaves. They are not a very big house, but they are in the position of one of the few powers effective in the market they are in. Specifically, they were working on orcs."
Everything was solved; the missing piece of the puzzle was completed. Although there were many sides going well after the revolution, for some, it had been the starting point of a rapid decline. Especially, the situation of those trading slaves wasn't very bright.
"They appeared before me a few times on behalf of the organization they established among themselves to object to the new laws. I told them a new era has begun; if they want to trade, they need to reorganize accordingly!"
"I guess you weren't very persuasive. From what I heard, it was understood that they found replacing you more appropriate than their business. As for their financial losses, they found binding shop owners to tribute as a solution!"
After the duo started sharing information, it turned out that the pains of change were not solved but only swept under the rug. These people were not the only ones longing for their old glorious days; as the regulations made for the poor people caused gold to decrease from their pockets, a lot of people waiting to bring the anger they kept inside to light were breeding.
"So their aim is to eliminate me and take over the administration. Their caliber isn't enough for this, but with strong external support, it's not impossible!"
While his life was in question, the new City Lord could consider the worst possibility and take into account what might happen. As those who hated him said, he couldn't be just a puppet; he deserved his position to the end.
"No option other than the dogs of the Black Lily comes to my mind. When they couldn't enter the city, they decided to try this method!"
Nafız found the address at the source of the problem in one go, but to learn the places where the microbe splashed, she had to wait for Operator Doctor Kübey.
