Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

Brothers' Day Out — Training Grounds of Asgard

Later that afternoon, Thor and Loki burst into Roy's room without knocking—typical.

Thor: "ROY! Come play with us!"

Loki: "We're going to the barracks. Come."

Roy closed his book and nodded.

He didn't go out with them often, so both older brothers smiled widely.

Arrival at the Barracks

The training grounds were loud and alive with clashing steel and battle cries.

Thor immediately ran toward his friends:

Fandral, the charming swordsman Hogun, the quiet warrior Volstagg, the cheerful giant And Sif, fierce and proud

Roy greeted them politely.

Sif turned toward him, and for a moment, she froze.

Silver hair, glowing blue eyes, soft features…

Her cheeks turned pink instantly.

Sif (whispering to herself):

"By the Norns… he's adorable."

Meanwhile Roy and Loki sat by the side, watching the training.

Training… and the Wooden Sword

Thor picked up a wooden practice sword and struck a heroic pose—

THUNK!

Another wooden sword fell straight onto his head from who-knows-where.

Fandral winced.

Volstagg laughed.

Sif covered her mouth.

Thor groaned but immediately continued training as if nothing happened.

Roy and Loki looked at each other at the exact same moment.

Roy & Loki (together): "Muscle head."

They paused… stared at each other…

Fist bump.

A rare brotherly moment.

Roy & Loki's Conversation

While Thor sparred loudly—shouting heroic lines for no reason—Roy and Loki talked quietly.

Roy: "What do you do when you're free?"

Loki (smirking): "Sometimes I prank Thor."

Loki began telling Roy all his past pranks:

dyeing Thor's hair green enchanting Thor's hammer to weigh a ton turning Thor's bathwater into pudding

Roy couldn't stop laughing.

Then Roy gave Loki a few new prank ideas—clever ones.

Loki listened with sparkling eyes.

Loki (thinking):

"He looks so innocent… but his ideas are more dangerous than mine."

He became even happier that Roy was opening up to him.

The Question Loki Always Feared

After a while, Loki's voice turned quieter.

Loki: "Roy… do you ever think about becoming King of Asgard?"

Roy shook his head immediately.

Loki blinked—he expected everyone to want the throne.

Loki: "Why not?"

Roy's answer was simple:

Roy: "Sitting on a throne all day… thinking about politics and stress?"

He looked toward the horizon.

"It's better to go out, explore the realms, find what you love, and live freely."

Loki stared at him for a long moment.

No ambition.

No greed.

No competition.

Just… freedom.

Loki (softly): "You're strange, Roy. But… you make sense."

He nodded, feeling something warm in his chest.

For the first time in his life, Loki felt that someone truly understood him.

And Roy's words planted a seed inside him—

that maybe he didn't need the throne to find happiness.
