Cherreads

Chapter 19 - Glitter Powder

''I NEVER CRY!''

Luna screamed in anger. After putting all her remaining strength into that scream, she slowly sat down, completely drained, to take a break. For some reason, she instinctively pouted, showing an unexpected hint of cuteness.

She felt angry again, but this time, she was more angry at herself rather than Hector's teasing.

She hated the feeling of powerlessness when being surrounded by hordes of Orcs. It left a bitter taste in her mouth.

''Come on, dejection won't make you any stronger.'' Hector said, lightly pinching Luna's soft cheek.

''Ah… It hurts!'' Luna growled like a cat, giving Hector a hostile glare.

Hector just clicked his tongue as he watched Luna's funny reaction. It made him want to tease her again.

Well, he decided it was enough.

He shrugged and sat down, waiting for Luna to recover before continuing to clear the dungeon.

After a while, Luna hesitated for a moment before asking.

''W-Why are you so strong?''

Hector smiled. He didn't expect Luna to ask first. Still, it was good for him, since he could use this chance to draw some information from her.

''I have a blessing.''

Luna frowned.

''What kind of blessing can make someone that much stronger in a few days?''

Clearly, Luna felt a huge gap between herself and Hector, especially compared to the last time she saw him fight her brother. She was certain that if Hector fought Ralph now, Ralph would be defeated easily.

Was there some secret within the great Clan? If she could uncover that information, it would help her Kingdom greatly.

That was why she had to endure all the teasing and keep following Hector.

However, just a few seconds later, her face changed color when she thought about one thing. She said,

''Maybe...B-Blessing of a God?''

Hector smirked.

''Who knows.''

Then, with a sly look, Hector asked.

''You have one too?''

Luna answered immediately.

''I don't have one.''

Hector chuckled.

''You're lying.''

Luna snorted, showing no sign of panic or being shaken by Hector's words. She wanted to prove that she was telling the truth.

''Well, I have a blessing related to the ability to see the lies.''

Hearing that, she suddenly scowled. Her heartbeat began to race in worry, and sweat formed on her skin. Especially when she saw Hector's cold expression, she believed he was telling the truth..partly.

She gulped, then turned her gaze away.

''You're a liar.''

Hector smirked.

''That's right. I'm a liar, but your cute reaction earlier betrayed you.''

She gritted her teeth, but quickly calmed herself down and chose to say nothing. Clearly, she wasn't sly enough to go against him, so the simplest choice was silence.

''Tch, Princess, you don't need to do that. I already saw your reaction.''

He cleared his throat and asked.

''So, what ability does your blessing grant you? Why didn't you use it in the fight?''

However, Luna remained silent, not even wanting to look at Hector.

He sighed and scratched his head.

''You're quite a headstrong girl… but now I know you're one of the people from Hanyden Kingdom who has a blessing of a God.''

He stood up, looking at Luna for a while.

He uttered,

"Guess the first move is done. Next time, if I ask her, she won't be suspicious about why I know her blessing is god-level."

[You have slain an Orc]

[You have received three green mana cores]

Ting!

[You have received a Green-tier item]

"Damn! A Green-tier item." Hector smiled happily. This was the first time a monster had dropped an item for him.

Meanwhile, Luna beside him grumbled.

"You're quite lucky, sly fox… This is the first time I've seen an Orc have a Green-tier item. In theory, items only appear in monsters with over five mana cores."

Hector chuckled.

"You're jealous?"

Luna giggled. Her voice was full of mockery, but hidden beneath it was some annoyance.

"Why would I be jealous? Do you forget who I am? If I want, I have tons of Green-tier items."

Hector lifted the corner of his lips while waiting for the item to appear.

"You're jealous because your monsters don't drop items like mine… anyone would want to get items by themselves."

"Right? Princess."

Luna scowled. Either way, Hector was telling the truth, and she didn't like it. The feeling of being a loser stirred in her mind nonstop.

Why couldn't she even beat Hector in a verbal fight?

With a sulky snort, she stepped forward, leaving Hector behind.

 "Y-You're a bastard."

Clearly, she didn't want to see Hector's smug face anymore.

Hector chuckled.

"Yeah, teasing her is so fun."

Then he glanced at the system screen.

[Name]: Glitter Powder

[Tier]: Green

[Description]: A powder ground from a firestone in a fire mountain. Carrying the origin of fire, it can glow in the dark and radiate enough heat to keep you warm in winter. It's also good stuff for decorating your house.

Hector's face half-twisted in irritation when he read the description.

"Holy shit! What kind of trash is this?"

Three minutes later.

He let out a deep breath to calm himself, then calculated his next step in the dungeon. He needed to find another horde of Orcs to boost his mana core.

The gap to three mana cores was close.

Without hesitation, he sprinted after Luna. But now, Luna didn't want to talk to Hector at all.

She was sulking.

To soothe Luna's childish competitiveness, Hector told her about the item he had just received and handed her a handful of glitter powder.

Sure enough, she chuckled at Hector's unluckiness and took the glitter powder like it was a spoil.

Half a day passed after that.
