'Hey, hey, hey! Third Hokage, don't ruin my system mission!'
Yagami's smile twitched as he watched the Uchiha squad — seven proud elites — all forced to bow so low under the Third Hokage's pressure that their foreheads were practically touching their knees.
He sighed.
If he didn't act now, his system task was going straight into the trash.
So he stood up.
"Lord Third—"
"And YOU!" Hiruzen snapped before he could finish.
"You just returned from a mission! Can't you rest properly for once!?"
Yagami froze on the spot, staring blankly.
Rest? REST?
I'm literally the victim here, old man…
But he swallowed the complaints and straightened his posture.
"Lord Third, please allow me to continue the match with them."
"Match?" Hiruzen frowned, clearly puzzled. "What match?"
"I want to take on all seven of them. Alone."
The entire area fell silent.
Even Hiruzen blinked, unsure if he'd heard right.
Sparring wasn't strange but one vs. seven? That was ridiculous even by his standards.
Yagami lowered his head respectfully.
"Please allow it, Lord Third."
The seven Uchihas, who moments ago thought the Hokage's arrival meant the fight was canceled, felt their stomachs drop.
Why… why is he bringing it up AGAIN!?
Spectators around them — chūnin, genin, even a few off-duty jōnin — all froze mid-conversation.
Most had been ready to leave.
But now?
The entire training ground suddenly came alive again with whispers.
"Is he crazy?"
"One vs seven?"
"No way he's serious…"
Hiruzen looked Yagami in the eyes.
"Are you certain about this?"
He wasn't questioning Yagami's battlefield performance.
He'd just seen the kid break through a full surround earlier... impressive for someone his age.
But sparring was different.
A real fight let you push past your limits.
A spar required control.
Even a small mistake could cripple someone.
Yagami hit his chest with a fist — a very familiar salute from his previous life.
"Yes. Please approve it."
Hiruzen turned to the Uchiha squad.
"And you? Do you intend to fight?"
Their faces stiffened.
Something about Yagami's calm expression made a chill run down their spines.
It felt… wrong.
Like they had walked into a trap and only realized it now.
But backing out in front of the Hokage?
Impossible.
They nodded, though every instinct screamed at them not to.
Hiruzen sighed.
"Very well. Since both sides agree, I won't stop it."
"However — this will be a three-round sparring match, just like at the Academy."
Yagami raised a brow.
"Three rounds? Sure."
More rounds simply meant more chances to look cool. More prestige. More system points. Zero downside.
Hiruzen continued:
"First — you may not strike vital areas.
Second — falling to the ground counts as defeat.
Third — both sides must perform the seal of confrontation before the fight… and the seal of reconciliation afterward."
Yagami's eyelid twitched.
"…Is that really necessary?"
"Rules are rules," Hiruzen said firmly.
Yagami sighed.
If he kept arguing, the whole match might be canceled and that would nuke his system mission completely.
"All right, all right…"
Hiruzen nodded in satisfaction.
"Good. Then the match will be moved to the Chūnin Exam Training Grounds. More space, and more visibility."
The moment he said it, the spectators exploded into motion.
Groups of shinobi sprinted toward the exam arena, shoving each other aside, trying to secure the best view.
There was a match about to happen — an authentic one-versus-seven showdown.
And no one in Konoha was going to miss that.
