Alice's POV
I stared at him as he sat beside me on the bed.
"Well, I don't want to talk about any of it." I held the ice and placed it on my cheek.
"I just want to be left alone."
"That's not happening," Bryan said, walking over to sit on the edge of my bed. "Not when you're sitting here blaming yourself for something that's not your fault."
"How do you know it's not my fault?" I asked. "You weren't there. You don't know what I did or didn't do."
"I know Sterling & Cross killed Clara," Bryan said.
"I know they're the ones responsible, not you."
"But if I hadn't kept the evidence," I started.
"Then they would have found another reason to kill her," Bryan interrupted. "Or they would have killed someone else. These people are criminals, Alice. They don't need a good reason to hurt people. They just do it."
"That doesn't make me feel better," I said quietly.
"I know," Bryan said. "But it's the truth."
