Nathaniel and Lucas walked into the living room with Amanda behind them. She carried a plastic grocery bag, identical to the one Lucas held. Nathaniel's gaze landed on mine while Lucas stared at Hailey before Amanda beckoned him to follow her. She must have probably told him to help with the groceries.

​Nathaniel stared down at me. I thought he was too tall—or maybe I was just too petite; I was barely reaching his neck. "Drop," he said, using the nickname. Him saying that nickname in front of Hailey made me flush, especially since I'd told her about my morning activities with him. "You have company."


​His eyes flitted over my head to look at Hailey, then he looked back at me. "That's Hailey, my best friend." I then turned to Hailey and nodded for her to come over. "Hailey, this is my husband, Nathaniel."
