Nathaniel parked under the garage in his home and turned the ignition off. He breathed out and leaned his head on his chair. I, too, released a breath I didn't know I'd been holding.
We were finally home, away from Elliot, Vanessa, and Linda. Benjamin was the only positive energy in that home.
"Was Linda always like this with you?" Nathaniel suddenly asked. "I was rarely at home whenever you visited with Elliot."
"I know," I muttered. "Well, we hardly saw each other, Linda and I, and no, she wasn't like this. She was kind, even though we hardly spoke. Benjamin was the most chatty one." I blew out air. "I think she's like this because I dated her son, and now I'm dating her husband's brother."
"Do not concern yourself with her," Nathaniel said, his eyes closed as he breathed steadily.
"It'll be a bit hard not to. She will be my sister-in-law soon, by the way, and she doesn't like me anymore."
