Cain, Isolde, and Snack the Griffin stood on the sand.
The ocean was big. It was very blue and looked endless. The waves crashed against the shore with a loud noise.
"I hate sand," Cain said. "It gets in my boots."
Isolde looked at her map. She pointed at the water.
"The Water Kingdom is down there," she said. "It is at the bottom of the trench. It is five miles deep."
Cain looked at Snack. The giant bird was hiding behind a rock. Snack shook his head. He did not like water. He was a cat-bird, and cats hate baths.
"We need a submarine," Cain said. "Or a very heavy rock to hold us down."
"I have a spell," Isolde said. "But it is hard. I need to focus."
Isolde raised her staff. The green gem on top glowed.
[Spell: Sphere of Breath]
She drew a circle in the air. A giant bubble appeared. It was clear like glass, but soft like jelly. It floated over the sand.
"Get in," Isolde said. "This bubble will hold air for us. It will protect us from the water pressure."
Cain poked the bubble. It wobbled.
"It looks weak," Cain said. "If a fish pokes it, we die."
"It is magic," Isolde argued. "It is strong. Just get in."
Cain dragged Snack by his tail. The Griffin dug his claws into the sand. He cried like a baby.
"Get in the ball, bird," Cain said. He threw Snack inside. Snack floated in the air inside the bubble, looking unhappy.
Cain and Isolde stepped inside. The bubble sealed shut.
"Okay," Cain said. "How do we go down?"
Isolde tapped her staff. "We sink."
She rolled the bubble into the waves.
Splash.
The water covered them. The light from the sun got dimmer. They sank past the shallow water. They saw colorful fish and coral reefs.
"Pretty," Isolde said.
They sank deeper. The water turned dark blue. Then black.
"Boring," Cain said. He sat down on the floor of the bubble.
Suddenly, a large shadow passed over them.
It was not a fish. It was a Shark Man. He held a spear made of coral.
Then, ten more appeared. They circled the bubble. Their eyes glowed in the dark.
"Isolde," Cain said, standing up. "Are we allowed to open the window?"
"No!" Isolde yelled. "If you open the bubble, the water will crush us!"
One of the Shark Men poked the bubble with his spear.
Boing.
The bubble bent, but did not break.
The Shark Man looked angry. He signaled to the others. They all raised their spears.
"They want to pop us," Cain said. "I think we need to go outside."
"We can't breathe outside!" Isolde panicked.
Cain looked at his inventory. He smiled.
"I don't need to breathe," Cain said. "I just need to hold my breath for five minutes."
He put his hand on the bubble wall.
"Get ready to patch the hole, Princess."
