The bubble sank deeper.
They were now five miles underwater. It was pitch black outside. The only light came from the glowing moss inside the bubble and the faint lights of strange, deep-sea fish.
"We are here," Isolde whispered.
She pointed down.
Below them, on the ocean floor, was a city.
It was beautiful. The buildings were made of blue glass and white coral. They glowed with soft light. The whole city was covered by a massive, clear dome to keep the water out.
"The Water Kingdom," Isolde said. "Luna lives in the tall tower in the middle."
Cain looked at the dome. It was huge.
"How do we get in?" Cain asked. "Is there a door?"
"There is a gate," Isolde said. "But it is guarded by the Leviathan Guard. They will not let us in."
Cain cracked his knuckles. "I don't like guards."
The bubble floated closer to the dome.
Suddenly, a loud horn sounded. BLAAAAAA.
From the city gates, three massive shapes swam out.
They were War Whales. They wore armor made of gold. On their backs rode mermen with tridents.
"Halt!" the lead merman shouted. His voice was amplified by magic. "No surface dwellers allowed!"
Cain looked at Isolde. "Can I open the window again?"
"No!" Isolde yelled. "You almost died last time!"
"Fine," Cain said. "Then we crash."
"What?!"
Cain walked to the back of the bubble. He braced his feet against the jelly wall.
"Isolde," Cain said. "Steer the bubble toward the dome. Fast."
"You are crazy!" Isolde shouted. "If we hit the dome, the bubble will pop! We will be crushed!"
"Trust me," Cain said. "I have a plan. It involves breaking things."
Isolde closed her eyes. She waved her staff.
The bubble sped up. It shot toward the glass city like a torpedo.
The War Whales saw the bubble coming.
"Stop them!" the merman shouted. "Fire the torpedoes!"
The whales fired magic blasts from their armor. BOOM. BOOM.
Isolde dodged left. She dodged right. The bubble shook, but kept going.
"Brace for impact!" Cain yelled.
He grabbed Snack the Griffin. He grabbed Isolde. He pulled them close to his chest.
The bubble hit the city dome.
CRASH.
The bubble popped instantly.
But at the exact same second, Cain punched the glass dome.
SMASH.
The force of the bubble crashing, combined with Cain's punch, shattered the city's shield.
Glass rained down like diamonds.
Cain, Isolde, and Snack fell through the hole in the roof. They fell out of the water and into the air of the city.
They plummeted two hundred feet.
THUD.
They landed in a fountain in the middle of a market.
Water splashed everywhere. Fish flopped on the stone.
Cain stood up in the fountain. He was wet. He was annoyed.
He looked around.
Hundreds of blue-skinned citizens were staring at him. They dropped their baskets. They screamed.
Cain stepped out of the fountain. He fixed his coat.
"Hello," Cain said to the terrified crowd. "I am looking for Luna. She owes me a fight."
