Chapter 17 - The Diamond King

Cain walked toward the throne. He dragged the heavy dragon-skull flail behind him.

Terra stood up.

He was huge. When he stood, his head scraped the ceiling of the temple. Dust fell down.

"You escaped the mud," Terra rumbled. "But you cannot break me. I am the mountain."

Terra raised his arms. His grey stone skin began to change. It turned clear. It turned bright.

[Divine Art: Diamond Form]

In seconds, the giant rock god turned into a giant diamond. He sparkled in the dark room. He was the hardest thing in the world.

"Shiny," Cain said. "But glass breaks."

Cain ran.

He swung the Earth-Eater flail with both hands. He put all his strength into the swing.

BOOM.

The dragon skull hit Terra's leg.

The sound was like a bell ringing. It hurt Isolde's ears.

But Terra did not break. He did not even scratch.

Instead, the Earth-Eater cracked. A tooth flew off the dragon skull.

Terra laughed. "Dragon bone is soft. Diamond is eternal."

Terra swung his fist. It was a giant diamond hammer.

Cain blocked with his arms.

CRACK.

Cain was knocked back. He slid across the floor, digging trenches with his boots. His arms were bruised. His bones ached. This was the first time he felt pain in a long time.

"Okay," Cain said, shaking his arms. "You are hard."

Terra walked forward. THUD. THUD. The floor shook with every step.

"Give up," Terra said. "You cannot punch diamond. Your hands will break."

Cain looked at his flail. It was chipped. He tossed it aside.

"I don't need a weapon," Cain said.

He looked at the black ring on his finger—the Ring of Burden.

"Isolde!" Cain shouted. "Get back! Far back!"

Isolde flew to the corner of the room. "What are you doing?"

Cain twisted the ring.

"I am turning off the safety," Cain said.

He focused his mind. He poured his Killing Intent into the ring.

[Weight Multiplier: 100x]

Suddenly, the floor under Cain exploded. He did not move, but he was so heavy that the stone cracked just from him standing there.

Cain felt his muscles scream. His body weighed as much as a whale. But his Heavenly Restriction made his muscles strong enough to carry it.

He made a fist. His fist was now a wrecking ball.

"Let's see if you are eternal," Cain whispered.

He charged.

He was slower now, but he was unstoppable.

Terra punched down.

Cain punched up.

Fist met Diamond.

KRA-KOOM.

The shockwave blew the roof off the temple.
