I slowly opened my eyes, my head throbbing violently. The moment my vision cleared, I jolted upright in bed.
Kaius was standing right in front of me—watching.
"What the heck?!" I shouted, my voice hoarse. "What did you do to me?!"
My head felt like it was splitting in two. The pain was sharp, unforgiving, as if something had been forced into my mind.
Kaius only looked at me innocently, his expression calm—too calm. As if nothing unusual had happened at all.
"What are you talking about?" he asked casually. "I didn't do anything to you. You just suddenly passed out."
Liar.
"Then why—"
Before I could finish, he abruptly pushed me back down onto the bed. Both of his hands slammed against my shoulders, strong enough to pin me in place.
My breath hitched.
He was smiling.
And that terrified me more than anger ever could.
Something about his eyes told me that if I made one wrong move—if I said one wrong word—he wouldn't hesitate to do something far worse.
