Chapter 25 - Chapter 24 2 Old Foxes

Tsunade hadn't even sat down yet when Naixue had already poured her a cup of tea.

"Thank you."

Tsunade sat down, thanked him, and took a sip.

"Bro, could you pour me some sake?"

Kawaze arrived a moment later. After sitting down, he turned and spoke to Sakumo.

Sakumo took a sip of his tea and glanced at him.

The contempt in his eyes was obvious. He was about to lose his temper. You still expect me to pour you tea?

Maybe the brothers really did have telepathy; Kawaze forced an awkward smile and poured himself a cup of tea.

"We should go to the construction site together this afternoon."

After finishing his tea, Kawaze spoke.

It was obvious Sakumo didn't want to deal with him right now. He didn't even respond with a "hm," just gave a slight nod.

"Alright."This was Tsunade's residence.

"Should we bring the ghost mastiff?"

Naixue, unsure what kind of situation to expect, raised his voice as he asked.

"Yes, its sense of smell is sharp."

As he spoke, Kawakaze dragged the massive ghost mastiff out from behind Naixue.

"Woof! Woof…"

It was probably screaming, "Save this dog!"

Naixue turned away awkwardly, pretending nothing had happened.

The ghost mastiff's eyes dimmed, its barking ceased.

After all, its feelings were gradually fading…

Kawaze didn't care at all. He placed the ghost mastiff's front legs over his own thighs.

A crazy RUA session began.

Tsunade watched, dumbfounded. She thought, If Kawakaze-kun did that to me, he might rub me to death.

"Do you want to join us? It looks ferocious, but it actually feels great to touch."

Kawaze invited her, but Tsunade waved her hands. She was still in shock from the disturbing thoughts she'd just had.

The ghost mastiff lay there on Kawaze's lap like a soulless corpse, completely unresponsive.

After a while, Kawaze got bored and tossed the ghost mastiff aside.

A decisive, ruthless stop.

By then, the ghost mastiff couldn't wait any longer for its master to feed it. It glanced at Naixue and walked off alone, its back full of sorrow.

Naixue, still worried, excused himself and went to comfort the poor creature.

The three remaining people sat in silence for a long time, the atmosphere growing awkward.

By dinner time, Naixue returned with the ghost mastiff and invited the three of them to eat.

The ghost mastiff, now comforted, seemed emotionally stable again.Naixue truly wasn't fit to be a member of the Inuzuka clan.

When they arrived at the restaurant, they still had important matters to deal with in the afternoon, so no one drank alcohol.

After dinner, Tsunade left and headed back to the construction company.

Kawakaze changed into his jōnin uniform, Sakumo strapped a short blade to his back, and Naixue brought the ghost mastiff.Everything was ready—they just waited for Tsunade to return.

When Tsunade arrived at the construction company, a ten-person construction team had already assembled.

The man leading them was the same dark-skinned chunin from the morning. His Earth Release ninjutsu made him perfect for construction work.

"Tsunade-sama is here. Let's get moving."

He waved his hand and prepared to head for the site under her lead.

But Tsunade handed him a land-approval document.

"Just go to this address."

I have other matters to handle. Decide for yourselves whether to survey or start building.

"And don't think about trying any tricks."

To prevent them from slacking off just because she wasn't coming, Tsunade delivered a final warning, her voice low and her eyes like crackling lightning.

"Don't worry, I'm not that brave."

The dark-skinned man trembled as he returned the approval document. There wasn't a single place in Konoha he didn't know about.

"You can go now."

Tsunade watched the construction team leave, then returned to the Hatake residence.

When she arrived at the dorm, the three were already prepared.

So they set out together toward the construction site.

When they reached the site, they found the construction crew already surveying the land's borders, taking notes and sketching.

They looked very professional.

The four people and one dog hid between two large trees nearby.

Their presence and chakra signatures were completely hidden—only a powerful sensory ninja could hope to detect them.

"I wonder if Danzō will make a move."

Tsunade asked aloud.

"No idea. It's a test of patience now."

"That's why I asked you to stay for a few more days."

Kawakaze didn't know either. All they could do was wait.

Sakumo, a mission maniac, was actually enjoying this downtime.

Naixue was on high alert, and the ghost mastiff looked serious, its nose twitching occasionally.

When the construction team first arrived at the site…

They were immediately spotted by Uchiha ninja stationed in secret.

Someone rushed back to report.

Uchiha clan territory, Council Hall.

The clan head sat cross-legged in the center, expression calm—neither sad nor pleased.

Fugaku knelt to his right. No one else was present.

He had been receiving strict guidance from his uncle.

Kneeling before them was the ninja who had returned to report.

"Clan Head, the construction team has entered the hospital site and begun surveying."

"Any members of the Senju clan with them?"

The clan head directly asked the crucial question.

"The leader was a ninja. I sensed chakra from him, but he seemed like an Earth-Release builder."

The Uchiha ninja reported exactly what he had observed.

"In that case, continue observing. Do not expose yourself."

"No rash actions. Relay the information to the Root contact."

The clan head waved his hand, dismissing him.The poor ninja had to run off again.

"What should we do next?"

Fugaku was startled by his uncle's question. He knew it was a test—a form of training.

He rested his right hand against his head, thought for a moment, and finally spoke.

"Wait until Danzō makes the first move or until a Senju member appears. Only then should we respond."

"We, the Uchiha clan, must never intervene first."

"Let Root stick its hand in first and test the waters."

After speaking, he looked at his uncle's reaction.

A faint smile appeared on the clan head's lips.

"Good. But still not perfect."

"Danzō is waiting for an opportunity—so why not give him one?"

The old fox was still a step ahead.Allies were tools to be used.

"What do you mean…?"

Fugaku was surprised. He realized he was still too soft.

"Wait for news and plan accordingly."

The clan head stood and left, leaving Fugaku deep in thought.

The Uchiha ninja relayed the information to Root's contact, then returned to the site to resume surveillance.

It must be said—at this point, the Uchiha were still united.

The younger generation had not yet been corrupted by the Third Hokage. No one had been fed the Will of Fire propaganda.

The pity was that their overall strength was far weaker than the later era's geniuses.

Even Fugaku was only a three-tomoe jōnin.

When Danzō received the report from the Uchiha, he made no special arrangements.

He sat in silence, face gloomy, and issued orders to the Root agents kneeling before him.

"Monitor the Uchiha closely. In the Senju hospital matter, they should be more anxious than I am."

"Report any abnormalities immediately."

"Yes, Lord Danzō."

The two Root agents departed swiftly.

As expected of the leader of the underground world—he saw straight through people.

He watched the Uchiha, and the Uchiha watched the construction site.

Now, all parties involved in the hospital plan had formed a three-way stalemate.
