Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 Spiritualism

Shuoma and Naxue treated the whole thing like juicy gossip. Their eyes grew hazy with excitement, their ears practically perked up.

"What's this person's name?"

The Slug Sage sensed the abnormal activity in Kawakaze's cells, something he had only ever felt once before — in Hashirama.

"His name is Hata Kaede. He's my, uh… good friend."

When Tsunade introduced him, it was almost as if she were saying he would be her future husband.

Her face, already flushed, turned an even deeper shade of red from embarrassment.

"I wonder if the Slug Immortal has any advice for me?"

This was also Kawakaze's first time seeing the slug — a mysterious spiritual insect capable not only of healing, but also of fighting.

"I can feel the same intense cellular activity inside you as I once felt in Hashirama."

"If it's you… my Immortal Art of the Shikkotsu Forest might be able to be used again."

The Slug Immortal voiced its own speculation.

"Well then, learn properly."

Before Kawakaze could even speak, Tsunade suddenly produced a massive scroll — a summoning contract.

She spread it across the ground; it was several meters long.

Kawamine looked up and realized that the names written on it belonged entirely to members of the Senju clan.

Tsunade's name was signed at the very end.

"With blood as our bond, please sign your name, Kawaho-kun."

Tsunade didn't hesitate at all. The Senju clan was already extinct, and this slug would one day become a treasured summoning beast passed down in the Hatake family.

"Then I won't be polite."

The Slug Sage did not stop him — Tsunade could decide such small matters on her own.

Shuoma, however, was full of jealousy. This was one of the Three Great Summon Beasts! Tsunade was being far too generous.

Kawaho bit his finger and wrote his name next to Tsunade's.

He felt a tremor deep within his soul, as if he had formed a new connection with some mysterious place.

"Okay. At first you'll still need hand signs. Once you're familiar with the Slug Sage, you can skip them."

Tsunade rolled up the scroll, spoke a spell, and it vanished from her hand.

She taught Kawaho a few seals, and the summoning ritual was complete.

"If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving."

The Slug Sage dissolved into smoke atop the table, not even taking a bite of food.Compared to the snakes of Ryūchi Cave, it was truly elegant.

"Kawamine, do you seriously want to learn Sage Arts?"

Shuoma still remembered the Slug Hermit's words: "Not a single person has survived."

He couldn't help feeling worried. He only had one younger brother. Even though his brother wasn't very friendly with people, he was still his brother.

"If I get the chance… I'd like to try."

Kawakaze didn't hide anything — Shuoma had no idea how powerful Hashirama's Sage Mode really was.

But Kawakaze knew that with Wood Release combined with Sage Arts, he could snap his fingers and obtain anything he wanted.

And with Fahai's background music? Practically unbeatable.

The mighty Heavenly Dragon… Tathagata, Kṣitigarbha, the wisdom of the Buddhas… Prajñāpāramitā…

Just imagining it made Kawaho burn with fighting spirit. He was determined to master the art of immortality.

"Be cautious. Putting your safety first is never wrong."

Naxue added quickly — "No one surviving" sounded terrifying.

"Think it through carefully, Kawaho-kun. I'll support you."

Tsunade lifted her cup and drank again with the handsome man before her.

The feast went on. Everyone grew drunk, swaying back and forth.

After the fiasco at the Hatake household last time, Tsunade put down her cup before she completely lost control. She had eaten and drunk enough.

If things went the same way as last time, who knew what the outcome might be?

Shuoma still tried to push her to drink more, but Naxue slapped him twice and dragged him away to rest.

"It's late… why don't you stay at my house tonight?"

Kawakaze meant well. Even drunk, he wanted Tsunade to stay safely.

"No, Kawaho-kun… I'm afraid you won't be able to control yourself."

Tsunade stood up unsteadily and headed toward the door.

Kawaho rushed to help her, one arm around her waist and the other over her shoulder.

Two drunk people staggered out of the Hatake gate.

The night was deep, the moon bright overhead.

"Go back. I can walk on my own."

Tsunade struggled, trying to pull away. She feared that if she let him keep holding her, she truly wouldn't want to leave.

"Then I'll watch you walk."

They stared into each other's eyes — confused, uncertain.

Kawakaze's breathing grew irregular, his heartbeat quickened.

Under the moonlight, Tsunade looked even more alluring.

He leaned in, cupped her face with both hands.

He lowered his head… and kissed that red mark.

The moment he touched her soft lips, he closed his eyes.

Tsunade's pupils widened. She placed her hands on Kawaho's chest.

She tried to speak, but only muffled sounds emerged.

Kawaho grew hungrier for her. He held her cheeks, pressing her closer.

He savored the softness and agility of her tongue.

Tsunade's hands, weak and trembling, slowly slid from his chest to his waist.

Their lips remained locked for a long time.

Strands of her dark, glossy hair caught between their mouths.

They were both breathless.

After a while, Kawaho moved in again.

Just as he leaned forward, Tsunade shoved him away and ran without looking back.

He was already drunk, and now more excited than ever — he nearly tripped over a stone. After stumbling a few steps, he regained balance and soon vanished from sight.

Kawaho stood there, licking his lips.Alcohol was a wonderful thing.

With a faint grin, he staggered back home.

————— Dividing Line —————

The next morning, Tsunade woke up.

Her mind was still a blur; she vaguely remembered the kiss she shared with Kawaho.

A faint, shy smile curled at the corner of her lips.

Suddenly she smelled something awful — a mix of cigarettes, alcohol, and sweat.

She frowned. Kawaho… was really not the kind of man who sparked appetite in the morning.

She got up, washed, and ate breakfast. Time to get to work.

She headed out toward one of Konoha's most famous construction companies.

Most of the village infrastructure was built by this company — high quality, fast completion.

They employed a group of mid- and low-rank earth-style ninjas who were excellent human building tools.

When she arrived at the front desk, she found the receptionist was a short, dark-skinned middle-aged man.

He clearly recognized the famous Princess of the Senju clan.

He hurried forward and bowed slightly.

"Lady Tsunade, what brings you here today?"

Tsunade wasn't surprised; far too many in Konoha knew her, either for her strength… or for her gambling.

"We have a large-scale project and need your cooperation."

"Oh! Please come in, ma'am!"

The man's eyes lit up. A big project from Tsunade meant big money.

He led her to an office and enthusiastically poured her tea.

"I'm on duty today. If you need a major project done, just tell me."

"I'm not bragging — but in Konoha, there's no construction company stronger than ours."

His sales pitch was smooth and confident.

"Is a 6,000-square-meter hospital considered big?"

Tsunade sat with elegance, sipping her water slowly.

The man's eyes widened. He quickly bowed; this was clearly not a woman to take lightly.

"Of course! And may I ask when construction will begin?"

"Daily payment? Or contractual?"

He urgently asked about the timeline and payment method.

After half an hour of discussion, Tsunade offered him a trial assignment:

Hiring ten construction workers daily, starting in the afternoon.

She would use this construction crew as bait… and wait for the fish to bite.

Fortunately, the enemy was also from Konoha, so he wouldn't dare openly attack construction workers in broad daylight. At most, he would chase them away.

Otherwise, Tsunade would never have agreed to Kawaho's plan. The Senju clan's mission was to protect the village.

And at least for now… Tsunade still upheld her grandfather's ideals.
