Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 Everyone has their own agenda

The farce finally came to an end, but Shuo Mao still refused to call him "big brother."

After satisfying his desire to act like an older brother in front of Sheng Shu, Chuan Feng walked over to Shuo Mao with a mischievous grin.

"Brother, I'll teach you."

"No. You're my elder brother."

Shuo Mao was still angry. You little brat—already an adult and still daring to piss me off!

"Brother, don't make trouble," Chuan Feng raised an eyebrow and said with a teasing tone.

"You've got backbone. Even if he doesn't want to learn, it doesn't matter."

Na Yuki, seeing their strange behavior, came over trying to diffuse the tension, while Gui Bao wisely stayed far away from the battlefield.

This was a matter between people—none of a dog's business.

Shuo Mao glared at his wife, signaling that she was ruining his moment.

Who said I'm not learning?

"Let's go."Shuo Mao grabbed Chuan Feng and dragged him to the side, leaving Na Yuki behind.

"The most important thing about the Flying Thunder God Technique is sensing the power of space."

"Brother, I can't guarantee you'll be able to learn it."

When it came to business, Chuan Feng remained extremely serious.

Then his expression suddenly changed. He reached into his robe and pulled out a scroll labeled Flying Thunder God Slash.

"I only learned this by chance with help from Lady Mito."

"Study the theory first, then give it a try."

He handed the scroll to Shuo Mao.

Even if Shuo Mao managed to learn the Flying Thunder God Technique, his chakra reserves weren't enough to use it continuously like Chuan Feng.Still, using it to finish off enemies wouldn't be a problem—and as Konoha's future White Fang, his chakra was nothing to scoff at.

Shuo Mao accepted the scroll and began studying it.

Before long, he managed to apply the Flying Thunder God marking to his dagger—no difficulty at all.

But when it came to sensing spatial energy, he hit a wall.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't grasp the technique.

Chuan Feng was helpless; all he could offer was his own understanding.

His thoughts drifted, recalling the moment Tsunade had been in his arms.

Meanwhile, Tsunade had already reached the Third Hokage's office.

A wooden box filled with money sat open in the center of the room.

"Teacher, this is one hundred million ryo."

"With this, we can begin construction."

Standing before the Third Hokage, Tsunade looked calm and composed. No one tried to take advantage of her.

"Haha, the Hatake family really is wealthy."

"I thought this would take longer."

"Now the village school and other facilities can finally be improved."

"This is good for the entire village."

Sarutobi Hiruzen smiled around his pipe, and it didn't seem forced at all.

Tsunade deeply respected her teacher—under his leadership, the lives of ordinary Konoha villagers genuinely improved.

"We're lucky to have a teacher with Konoha in his heart."

"Haha, I'm merely the successor of the Will of Fire."

The Third Hokage laughed. He truly was the embodiment of the Will of Fire.

Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu wore nostalgic expressions—after all, their own teacher was long gone.

"You seem to be quite close to Hatake Feng," the Third asked suddenly.

Why is he asking this?

"He's never sent this much money before. Is he afraid of an old man like me?"

What he said was exactly what Tsunade had been worried about. She suddenly remembered how Chuan Feng had wrapped an arm around her waist in the warehouse.

Her cheeks flushed faintly.

"We're good friends."

Only the Third Hokage could tell whether she was lying.

"Is that so? If you're done here, you may go."

The war was about to begin—he had to be cautious.

For the first time, the Third showed concern for her. After all, her family had a Jinchuriki.

"Yes, teacher."

"Advisors, I'll take my leave."

After bidding farewell, Tsunade gave Koharu a polite smile—they had already reached a certain understanding.

Leaving the Hokage Building, she didn't know where to go. She felt too embarrassed to visit the Hatake household, so she wandered into a random casino.

The legendary big spender had returned, and Konoha's gamblers swarmed in, crowding the small casino to capacity.

Tsunade happily tossed the dice, unaware that her "generous donations" were being watched closely by Root operatives.

In a dark underground chamber, a Root ninja kneeled before Danzo.

"Sir, Tsunade has delivered the money to the Hokage's office."

"The progress is impressive—seems the Hatake family truly is wealthy."

Seated at the head of the room, Danzo still had people in the Hokage Tower monitoring every movement.

Ambitious and ruthless like a wolf, he was someone even the Third Hokage could hardly tolerate.

"They'll begin hospital construction next."

"Notify the Uchiha clan to prepare."

We shall see what happens.

Danzo ordered the message relayed, unaware that the Uchiha clan head had the same plan in mind.

Two old foxes—how could they ever cooperate sincerely?

Just as Danzo issued his order, the Uchiha had already prepared.

The Root operatives expected to move in and out freely, but the moment they stepped into the clan grounds, they were seized by two captains of the Uchiha Security Force.

They were dragged before the clan head.

"So they're from Lord Danzo."

"Why haven't you released them yet?"

The clan head's arrogance was deliberate—meant to intimidate the Root ninja.

"I thought he was a spy, so I arrested him."

The captains released the Root ninja and apologized insincerely.

"Lord Danzo brings a message—the Senju clan's hospital is about to begin construction."

The Root ninja, silent since his capture, finally spoke.

Danzo's brainwashing and the Tongue Curse Seal had turned them into emotionless tools—cruel to the extreme.

"Tell Danzo that the Uchiha will fully cooperate."

The clan head waved him away.

Then Fugaku spoke up, "Clan Leader, what should we do?"

"Don't we already have people monitoring the construction site day and night? Notify me of any movement immediately."

The clan head's patience was impressive, but Fugaku was far weaker than him.

~~~~~ Split Line ~~~~~~
Shuo Mao spent the entire morning trying to comprehend the Flying Thunder God. His determination was admirable.
But aside from gaining a clearer theoretical understanding, he made no progress.
Seeing sweat dripping from Shuo Mao's forehead from mental exhaustion, Chuan Feng tried to persuade him:
"Brother, take a break."
"This isn't something you learn in a day."
He had forgotten that he'd spent the whole morning performing demonstrations right in front of Shuo Mao.
"As expected… big brother is nowhere near your level."
Shuo Mao had no choice but to accept that his younger brother was a prodigy far beyond comparison.
While they were training, someone called out to them, and the two sat down at a stone table.
Na Yuki thoughtfully prepared herbal tea and snacks, her eyes full of sympathy.
Her husband was excellent in every way—except for being incredibly stubborn.
"Eat something and rest. Training can't be rushed."
She sighed, trying to coax him. She knew he was still holding a grudge against her.
"I understand."
Shuo Mao's gaze softened. He smiled at his wife and fed her a bite of cake.
"Kill that dog! Kill that dog!"
Chuan Feng suddenly yelled, startling Shuo Mao. Na Yuki blushed and hurried away.
The ghost mastiff, hearing Chuan Feng's murderous shout, leapt up from beneath the tree and vanished into the training hall in an instant.
The Hatake household only had one dog—if it didn't run, it'd be dead!
It followed Na Yuki's scent, found her, and buried itself in her arms, whimpering in fear.
