Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 Sleeping with Xiaochun

Kawaze and Shuoma stood in the shadows, watching Danzo leave with hatred in his eyes.

"Wouldn't it have been better to just kill him?"

Shuoma's gaze was dark, his voice filled with killing intent.

He believed that with his own strength, he wouldn't even need to draw a second sword to kill Danzo.

"He's a disciple of the Third Hokage, and a high-ranking official of the Hidden Leaf."

"If we kill him just like that, there's no way to explain it."

"After all, our roots lie in Konoha."

As for Danzo's underlings—those corrupt small fry—they were insignificant.

Kawaze gave his older brother a reasonable explanation, and it was true.

Right now, Danzo's strength was mediocre, far from the level he would later show when fighting Sasuke. Aside from the Third Hokage needing him, he posed no real threat.

If the Third Hokage vented his anger on the Hatake clan because of Danzo, it would accomplish nothing.

"I'm curious what other tricks he has left."

"A man with ambition who lives in the shadows will always want to climb into the light."

Shuoma spat to the side with disdain as he spoke.

"There are always people in this world who crave power, but they just don't have the luck for it."

Kawaze smiled faintly, not taking Danzo seriously.

In the original story, after becoming the acting Hokage, Danzo was soon killed by Sasuke, ending his wicked life.

Who knew whether he would live long enough to see that day?

"Old man, he'll get what's coming sooner or later."

Shuoma's words made the others think he had suffered a terrible loss and felt guilty toward the person who killed Danzo.

"Haha, it's getting late, brother. Go get some sleep."

"Your wife is waiting for you in bed to make a baby."

Kawaze pretended to attack his brother's vital area in a lewd way.

Shuoma dodged and quickly headed to his room.

"You're already an adult, yet you still play dirty tricks on your big brother."

Liu Shuoma was speechless in front of Yuan Yuan. This younger brother was truly a source of worry.

She shook her head and walked toward the bed. Natsuki had been waiting for her for a long time.

Kawaze was still thinking: if his brother's child was born earlier, would Kakashi still be Kakashi?

It was a question worth pondering.

With Kakashi on his mind, Kawaze actually saw Tsunade in his dream. It seemed his nephew was just an accident—Tsunade was his true love.

The next day, at dawn—

Tsunade and Nawaki arrived again, neither of them having eaten breakfast.

Kushina followed behind them, and the three even began meeting up to eat breakfast together.

Ever since Shengshu went home yesterday, he hadn't stopped bragging about how delicious and plentiful big brother's breakfast was.

Kushina agreed to study sealing techniques for three days straight in exchange for being allowed to come eat for free today.

During the meal, Kushina devoured food like a whirlwind.

Otherwise, she wouldn't be worthy of the price she paid.

After breakfast, it was training time again.

Nawaki intentionally walked to the weapon rack and began squatting. Kushina followed suit.

Tsunade and the Kawaze brothers sat at the stone table, enjoying fine tea from the Land of Tea.

"Danzo came last night."

Kawaze spoke as he sipped his tea, his gaze lingering on Tsunade.

"What was he doing here?"

With that one sentence, Tsunade gave away the secret. She had no idea that the person Kawaze mentioned was Danzo.

"Because of the hospital."

Shuoma looked confused—his intelligence wasn't that high. Didn't they already agree they knew?

"Haha, all she knows is eating."

Kawaze mocked his brother's expression, and Tsunade finally reacted.

Trying to appear calm, she picked up her teacup and drank slowly.

"I see. I guessed wrong."

If not for the shy blush on her face, Kawaze might have believed her.

"So the people who came yesterday afternoon were from the lower ranks?"

Nawaki had told her about it after coming home. When she heard Danzo's name, she immediately recognized the ninja.

"Yes. He wants to become the nominal director and use his connections to protect the hospital."

"We won't be involved in running it, nor share in the profits."

Kawaze didn't expose Tsunade's act and instead pretended she truly guessed wrong, preserving her dignity.

"Isn't that a good thing?"

Tsunade didn't care about being director, and clearly there was no obvious harm to the hospital.

"He wants to use the hospital to boost his public image. Do you think that once he becomes Hokage, he'll keep the promises he made?"

Kawaze laid everything out clearly, worried the silly girl wouldn't understand.

Shuoma felt a surge of jealousy. Only last night, while lying in bed, did he think of this himself. Did Tsunade not need to use her brain?

"How did your talk go?"

Tsunade knew the negotiations must have fallen through, but she didn't know the details.

"Killed two of his men. Let one go."

Shuoma finally interrupted as he sipped his tea.

"Then he won't give up."

Tsunade understood Danzo better than anyone—he was the darkest man in Konoha.

So she needed to do something.

Kawaze already had a plan. Even if Tsunade hadn't come, he would have gone to her.

"What do you mean?"

"If I remember correctly, Advisor Koharu is a medical ninja."

Kawaze's gaze stayed warm as he smiled brightly at Tsunade.

"Yes, why?"

Tsunade couldn't think of any role Koharu Utatane could play in this. Her eyes were full of curiosity.

"I want you to invite her to be the hospital's vice-president. Just in name."

"And I'll pay her five million ryo a year."

Kawaze believed that for a middle-aged medical ninja nearing old age, this was an offer she couldn't refuse.

She wouldn't need to do anything—just be a figurehead, even if she was the Hokage's advisor.

After all, who ever complains about having too much money?

"But what's the point of that?"

Tsunade asked a barrage of questions.

"Don't worry. Just do as I say."

Kawaze didn't reveal his plans. He wouldn't say anything until things were settled.

"Then how much are you paying me to be director?"

Stars lit up in Tsunade's eyes. If a nominal vice-president made five million a year, then as the actual director, surely six million wasn't too much.

"When the year-end bonus comes, you'll be earning it for yourself."

He held his forehead and gave an answer Tsunade never expected.

Kawaze couldn't understand her thinking. If she loved gambling so much, why did she even care about money?

"All right, I'll go find Advisor Koharu."

After finishing her tea, Tsunade stood and left.

"Kawaze, wake up."

Shuoma couldn't bear to see his brother acting so useless and tried to shake him back to reality.

"Huh? What?"

"What's the point of hiring Advisor Koharu?"

Shuoma asked himself: why bother thinking? Wouldn't it be better to live life as a slacker?

"The Third Hokage has more than one disciple."

Kawaze only said that, confident that even with his older brother's intelligence, he would understand.

Flying Thunder God brought him directly to Nawaki—the entire house was now marked by the technique.

His sudden appearance didn't disturb Nawaki in his horse stance, but it scared Kushina half to death.

With a whoosh, a living person materialized in front of her, almost frightening the fiery redhead out of her soul.

But the move was so cool—if Kuchina could learn it, she'd be thrilled.

Her little head was filled with wild fantasies.

Shuoma sat on the stone stool, pulling his hair.

Damn it, he knew the Third Hokage had five fellow disciples.

Couldn't his brother say it all in one breath?
