Chapter 25 - The Reason for Being

Who was that man and how did he know that his parents didn't die in a traffic accident?

Jackson had investigated it; the little his uncle told him was that his parents died in a car accident, but there were definitely more things behind it that he didn't know.

He asked his master about this and he told him that if he really wanted to keep his teenage life calm, he shouldn't get involved in matters like these and that he should use his pain to become a better fighter.

That worked very well, since he became an incredible fighter.

But now things had changed.

The real question in this whole matter was to know if Jackson was really worth so much to the man who gave him this gift—was he truly someone so valuable?

In simple aspects, he was; Jackson was like a key that could open many doors for many people and make them earn hundreds of millions of dollars.

His master Boyka was also used as a fighter for powerful people and his story wasn't very good. Getting into these murky waters is definitely dangerous.

That is also why Robert first wanted to test him with the best twenty-year-old fighter he had and find out on his own

if he was worth it or not.

And in just a few moments, when people discovered that Jackson would fight, the bets began to move.

Without a doubt, tonight would be legendary.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

In the locker room, Jackson's figure moved from one side to the other as he punched a heavy bag that echoed strongly with every impact.

"Why will you fight now?" Devon had followed Jackson into the locker room, where he was now prepared for the fights.

"It'll end quickly."

"Aren't you going to tell me?" Devon wanted Jackson to look at her, but when she touched his shoulder, he grabbed her and cornered her against a locker.

Crack!

Devon got scared, but after feeling no harm she asked, "What's bothering you?"

"My parents died when I was a kid, my uncle didn't say much, but I knew he was hiding something when he talked to the people who visited him day after day. Everything became clearer when he told me he would teach me karate so I would know how to protect myself from those who wanted to hurt me."

Jackson's voice turned hoarse and he murmured, "That's when I knew that bad people took my parents from me and I thought for a while that my uncle would also be affected. From that moment, I trained all the time—fighting was the only thing I thought about because back then, I thought that if I was strong I could protect the only family I had left."

Devon stayed silent; she couldn't imagine the pain Jackson had felt all this time, and the only thing she could do right now was hug him.

"Were they caught, the killers?"

"My uncle says yes, but since they're criminals from the United Kingdom, where the death penalty is not allowed, they were sentenced to life in prison and that's all I know about them." Jackson then remembered what the note said and added, "If I fight today, one of those guys will be killed and maybe I'll get more information about my parents' deaths."

"Is it believable that they'll do it?"

"I have nothing to lose, this would be just another fight for me." Jackson let go of Devon, gave her a slight smile and said, "Even though my uncle is a millionaire, his power doesn't go beyond this country and money can't always buy everything you want."

This was the sad reality—his uncle only had influence in money and nothing more.

But now that the opportunity to erase those bastards had come into his hands, he would take it with such strength that he wouldn't let it go.

That hatred that had been calmed was completely erased from his mind and only the desire to kill existed.

And although he wouldn't be the one to do it, it brought him more peace that those idiots who killed his parents would be murdered in prison.

Devon knew she couldn't stop Jackson from fighting tonight, and even if she could, she wouldn't, because just thinking about being in the same situation, she would do exactly the same without a doubt.

"Are you going to let your feelings control you?"

"What?" Jackson looked at Devon intrigued.

"You'll fight and I'll support you, but right now you're so angry that you won't process the fights well." Devon understood this aspect better than anyone, something Jackson had completely forgotten.

And only now did he remember Boyka's teachings, who through many hardships taught him the way to master the mind to have control over his movements.

"Don't worry, I'll win the fights and I'll show you the right way to kick asses." The Jackson Devon was familiar with returned as soon as he remembered all the hard work he had done to stay centered.

Devon nodded and said, "Don't even think about getting distracted."
