Chapter 25 - Invitation

"It's not something for us to think about now. Right now, we just have to focus on growing…" Daniel explained calmly, not feeling too pressured by anything at all.

Perhaps it was because he had long gotten used to the state of the world.

"Just like we can enter the Spirit Continent using portals and other cracks in our world, demons and other races can enter our world as well and cause havoc.

"Because of this, we take missions to track them down and eliminate them before they can harm innocent lives… which brings me to my main question, Sunless…"

Jane stared at Daniel and waited for his words. She knew he wouldn't have revealed so much to Sunless without a reason. As such, she was curious about what he truly wanted to ask.

Daniel didn't make the siblings wait for long and immediately spoke.

"Would you like to join the Dragon Martial Warriors University under my recommendation?"

Daniel had seen how Sunless fought and countered the old man despite being only a first-stage beginner martial warrior.

Such innate strength and talent was something he wanted the academy to have.

Besides, with his recommendation, if Sunless successfully enrolled in the university, he would be rewarded accordingly.

Perhaps with that reward, he could aim for a breakthrough. Struggling for resources was becoming increasingly difficult as all kinds of competitions were piling up.

If it hadn't been for the fighter jet he bought before tracking down the old demon, he would have long since lost his life.

Endangering his life like that for uncertain rewards was something he was no longer willing to do…

He sighed and waited for Sunless' answer.

Jane also glanced at her brother nervously, waiting for his reply.

Sunless contemplated for a bit, then ultimately shook his head four minutes later.

It was a great idea, and he felt it was something that would help him grow. However, the academy just wasn't for him.

Interacting with rich, spoiled brats… learning from instructors…

All of it would only stagnate him for now.

What Sunless needed was to increase his strength as much as possible and diversify in every way.

He could pick up attributes, so only by exploring the world would he gain all sorts of techniques along the way.

Who knew… perhaps he might even combine them all and create a masterpiece for himself.

A look of pity and regret flashed through Daniel's eyes.

"A shame indeed. The offer's still open for a few months in case you change your mind. Here's my contact details for when you plan to register…"

"I don't have a phone." Sunless gave a wry smile and explained just as Daniel was about to start calling out his number…

"Oh…" Daniel nodded, then shook his head and no longer lingered on the topic. "If fate wills it, we'll meet again. Bye." After speaking, he waved at Sunless and turned toward the fighter jet.

"There will be people coming to clean up this mess shortly." As he finished speaking, he smiled faintly and then departed into the fighter jet.

Sunless waved back in response.

Daniel's gaze lingered on Jane, a hint of confusion crossing his features…

In no time, Daniel boarded the ship.

As though it were controlled by high-level technology, something akin to a hologram appeared atop the vessel.

"Welcome, Master Daniel."

The voice echoed, and at the same time, Daniel's facial features twitched and wriggled as though worms were crawling beneath his skin, before forming into something slightly older.

Before, he looked like a youth in his early twenties. Now, he resembled a middle-aged man in his early forties.

"Interesting… hahahaha. How interesting… to think I'd meet a fated child here."

The man muttered as he glanced at the holographic display of Sunless captured by the artificial intelligence.

It showed Sunless' calm eyes staring back at him.

"A fated child…"

There were martial warriors who didn't awaken as elementalists but instead awakened something entirely new.

Something monstrous, something unique, something belonging only to themselves.

Such individuals were humanity's highest priority, and Daniel was one of them.

His talent allowed him to see one's future potential…

Normally, there would be red, blue, green, purple, or even white. However, Sunless' was golden.

Golden… a color he had seen only twice in his life.

The first went on to become one of the strongest powerhouses humanity possessed, while the second…

He had encountered her just two months ago, and she was already under his watch.

And now there was Sunless… the third.

"This is quite strange. Two people with divine martial potential in the same era… this isn't supposed to be possible, right? Could a cataclysmic event be coming to humanity?"

The man furrowed his brows in worry.

'No… I have to alert the other forces… not about these divine talents, but about the coming crisis… there might be moles in the upper echelons of the world who seek humanity's destruction for their own greed. Because of that, the identities of these two special ones can't be revealed. Not yet.'

'Hopefully, they'll be grown enough by the time the crisis finally arrives… I have a bad feeling about this…' the man whispered inwardly before ordering the artificial intelligence to fly him out of the estate.

His eyes roamed toward Sunless one last time, and he noticed that Sunless had already begun conversing with the girl beside him.

"A friend?" Daniel felt slightly puzzled when he noticed Jane's own divine potential was gray. The most ordinary color, one that only mortals possessed.

'There's something strange about that girl. Normally, anyone close to someone with divine talent would have their own potential rise by at least two grades. How is it possible that hers is still stuck at first grade?'

'Could she have hidden it from my probing?' The thought crossed Daniel's mind, but he immediately dismissed it, unwilling to believe such a thing was possible.

"That man is… strange." The moment Daniel boarded the ship, Jane spoke with a frown.

"Strange? How strange…" Sunless asked, noticing the worry on her face.

"Our lives might have just become slightly more difficult…" Jane muttered, regret surfacing in her expression.

The moment she encountered the man, she subconsciously felt as though he was trying to pry into her future.

Her talent had activated on its own and shielded her from his probing, but she couldn't say the same for her brother…
