Out in the desert terrain where the sun hung above, two figures could be seen hammer a large metal pole in the ground. One was a tall muscular man, while the other was a young teenager. Between the two the pole wobbled as they took turns striking it.
"Left, left, right, left." Jura said suddenly.
"What?" Felix looked very confused.
Did this guy suddenly get heat stroke and begin turning into a singer? Otherwise, what kind of call out is this? How far left are they out, where on the left and right? Such questions rose up in Felix's mind.
"I counted three Graboids on the left and one on the right." Jura repeated slowly.
Felix wondered why he just didn't lead with that. Is it really that hard just to say he spotted four entered the range? Turning his head, Felix saw four rising dust clouds racing towards them as the ground rose and fell as a behemoth worm moved underneath.
Jura then began to use his magic and Felix soon copied it as the man stood before him. Under his Alpha Stigma, he quickly copied Jura's Earth Magic and began to use it himself.
"Iron Rock Wall - Submerge Edition." Jura called out.
Jura pointed his fingers at three of the Graboids heading their way. The ground before him rapidly hardened in front of the three and three loud bangs were heard. Two high speed moving met head on and it was almost safe to say the forming rock wall won this round.
Repeating Jura's actions, Felix copied the spell and much like what happened with Jura's three Graboids, this one too didn't win the battle. A tiny pool of orange blood surfaced as a terrible odor came over thanks to a small breeze.
"Are you an Earth Magic user too?" Jura was surprised to see his own spell.
"I dabble." Felix replied.
Jura looked surprised, but didn't say much else on the topic. It wasn't any of his business how much others practice their magic nor how many types they learn. This display did put him at ease knowing that Felix could handle himself in this job.
After banging the pole for once more for a while longer, they determined there weren't any more Graboids in this section. So Jura lifted the pole while Felix carried their hammers and moved to the next section they picked out before.
Repeating their actions, they soon found two more living Graboids which Felix easily fixed, turning the two into zero living Graboids. After which, both of them decided to take a break and snack as they cooled off. Swinging a large hammer at a pole under the blazing sun is quite exhausting.
Time passed and thanks to their effort, after dealing with a grand total of eleven Graboids over the next two days. Jura deemed the task complete at the end of the second day; they didn't manage to lure any more and the perimeter they set up didn't alert them either.
"I took out six and you five. Quite a few this time." Jura said as he handed half the reward to Felix.
"Does this quest come about quite often?" Felix asked.
"Every few years or so. Graboids eggs can either hatch quickly or lay dormant for around three centuries." Jura replied.
"Shouldn't we destroy the eggs?" Felix asked.
"The Graboids didn't evolve into Sherikers nor their third flying form, so there shouldn't be any?" Jura countered. "If there is, then it is from a previous time Graboids hatch which could be a century ago for all we know. If that is the case, these eggs would be very difficult and time consuming."
Felix nodded as this approach the amount of time looking wasn't worth this reward price. After giving a polite good bye, Felix headed back to the guild to report. The only issue is the lack of carriages to get to the train station from Perfection.
Thanks to the Graboids, no carriage was en route to this town for the time being. Unlike mages who could dispatch the Graboids, these merchants couldn't and since they didn't want to be eaten. They decided to just not come to this town for the time being.
After some thinking, Felix used Giant Magic he copied from Makarov to grow much bigger. Thanks to this, he crossed the desert in large strides, while making sure he didn't destroy the road under his massive feet. Otherwise, the guild master might reprimand him.
--
Felix stepped foot off the train in Magnolia Station, and weaved his way through the crowd. The streets of the town were bustling as Felix soon spotted a familiar building. On the front in a large banner was the Fairy Tail Guild Emblem as well the sign saying 'Fairy Tail'.
Pushing open the door, it wasn't a surprise to see the guild in the middle of a brawl. Walking along the way, Felix walked up to Makarov who was sitting on the counter sipping his drink as he watched.
"Mission complete, Master Makarov." Felix said.
"Already?" Makarov said, a bit surprised.
Usually it takes about a week to complete it. This is usually due to after taking out a couple Graboids, the others will wise up a bit. The other complication that might drag out this mission is the number involved. So seeing him return in only a few days is a bit of a surprise.
"I met Jura from Lamia Scale there. We teamed up and made quick work." Felix reported.
He followed up with a full explanation of how they managed to complete the mission and the total they disposed of. Makarov nodded as he praised their team work and quick work.
"Where is Mira?" Felix asked.
"She bought a house with her sibling yesterday. So she went to move her stuff in while Erza, Cana and Levy went to join in the fun."
Nodding, Felix sat at the counter to begin reading a book of magic again. Only he was stopped by Makarov before he could delve into it.
"Why don't you go give her a gift for moving into a new house." Makarov suggested.
"What should I bring?" Felix asked.
He didn't actually understand this type of thing as he never did it before in his previous two worlds. Should he bring snacks or some other little trinket?
"Just a house warming gift like food or small decor to warm up the use." Makarov replied.
Felix nodded as he slid off his chair and went to the door. Then he remembered he didn't know where Mirajane moved to so after a quick backstep he got the address.
--
A quick trip through the market, Felix came to the door of Mira's new house. In his hand, he held a small basket with various hair and skin care products. According to the shop attendant, this would be a wonderful gift. The shop lady also tried to sell him various clothing, but he didn't know Mira's size nor her sister Lisanna nor Elfman.
Felix felt this shop lady was just trying to get him to spend more, but since Mirajane might like these. He didn't feel like he fell for the trap too much.
Knock! Knock!
After knocking on the door a few times, Mirajane dressed in her black top and shorts flung the door open. The speed and violent door open made him blink once as he handed her the house warming gift.
"Congratulations on buying a house." Felix said.
"Thanks. Why don't you come inside." Mirajane invited. "The others are in the kitchen if you want to join."
Felix stood there for a moment before nodding. After she stepped aside, he walked in to Erza leading the charge in the kitchen with Cana and Levy right behind. The kitchen is a giant mess as various food and bowls are scattered about the table top and counters.
